I think that it is more important for Microsoft/Capcom to release ST with minimal lag and random disconnects than having an arcade port.
I think a perfect arcade perfect isn’t that difficult, it’s just the matter of getting the ear of the people who have a say so in the matter.
In Capcom’s defense, they’ve done an excellent job with Alpha Anthology and Third Strike.
Edit: Plus, I think that a lagless fighter online would do wonders for the fighting game community. Could you imagine what it would do for the competition and overall growth?

aren’t they relesing an arcade “perfect” version for PS2 sometime soon ? I thought that was actually down the pipeline sometime, I mean, people are just goign to complain about the lag issues with an XBL version, so just have a cheaper version prepped and ready, plus it would be a better seller in japan AND america, but all thease resons aside, there really isn’t a legit reason not to have it on the 360, the more opportunities to play, the better for the community, not exactly the most sound fininacial decision tho, but whateva, the more ports the merrier, and if it’s arcade perfect boot, then, why not ?

Dude, 2.2 million people are you fucking kidding me? That’s fucking insane. Not to be overly optimistic, but numbers like that could not only lead to ST being ported, but maybe even 3s being ported, or dare I say SFIV being made.
You CANNOT ignore 2.2 mil in sales, think how much money that brought them, there is ZERO overhead (IE manufacturing cost), thats like pure profit on every time someone buys HF over XBL.

omski: yeah an arcade perfect version of st is coming for ps2 in CCC2. it was also displayed at EVO for an exhibition match. but, the point of the petition, as bunkei has stated 398753975938754 times, is to have capcom get off their asses and invest in new networking technologies. Some people can and will tell you, 2 frame lag at the worst is possible coast to coast. people like sirlin have seen and played technology like that first hand. It’s a matter of the companies/developers wanting to switch over to the new shit, and thats the biggest thing we want. it is possible, hell zsnes online is proof of it almost.
parry: yeah man, no overhead at all, and you know designing an emulator to play the ps1 version wasnt too difficut to make either, so much profit. the number just shows that everyone still knows what sf is, knows how great it was. just too bad that 99% of those people that downloaded the game have no clue how to play, but that’s ok. people showing love, in any case
I dont’ know about some of these extreme statement like ST is best game ever, but honestly, is that what you all want??? Do you really want Capcom to concern themselves with a game that is nearly 15 years old. Aren’t we tired of rehashes by now??? Aren’t you tired of the many incarnation of these old games. That’s like people asking for UMK3 when Midway rereleased it several times in various incarnations already. At least the fans of UMK3 had one trump and that is UMK3 was never online beside possibly emulators on PC. But beside also having that possibility with ST, didn’t Capcom in a sense released ST with the anniversary collection. OK it was an Amalgm but there is Nothing stopping people from setting up a rule to have it ST only matches, or better yet, I’m sure Capcom themsleves can have a “limiter” update to SF anniversary that limits the access to the other versions of SF2. That would be much cheaper and practical than rerelease a game they sort of rereleased just 2 years ago.
No petitions never work, I remember XBOX fans having one for to bring VF4:evo to the Box. Or everyone’s pleas to get Final Tuned here in the states. I know it isn’t the same as simply having it a download from an XBOX live service but look at just HOW many delays there were just to get HSF2 out and they still couldn’t get it smooth with online play. Shouldn’t we allow allow dead games to die and petition for SF4 instead???
I mean, I rather support the guys who petition for a FFVII remake, or a Xenogears remake since it will be more than just a rerelease, but it will be updated with P3 level graphics along with 5.1 or better digital sound, along with voice overs and all. Even without voice overs, the same game, just graphically superior, and a better script and in the case of Xenogears the elaboration of the second disk is fine by me.
All I can say is, if this petition works persuading capcom to emulate ST arcade perfect with lag-free online coding, then this will be a miracle for all SF fans worldwide.

Funniest thing happened today when i was on the train today going to the city. I had the opportunity (randomly) to meet and shake hands with the Senior Vice President of Microsoft X-Box LIVE. Triforce was with me, but yeah I brougt up and mentioned Super Turbo for X-Box LIVE and although I dont to spew too much info (for obviouss) they ARE aware of the petition and there is a possible hope for all the ST fans out there. How hopeful again i wont say but lets say that i was happy to hear what he told me about it. Once again this isnt me bringing info just to tease but as we all know this is how rumors and all sorts of wild accusations go around (the internet lol)
but its just a heads up I guess.
