also, expect the special prize to be ‘underwhelming’ to say the least. Some free alt costumes worth about $5. Best to trade in and spend the extra.
Rumor has it that they’ll give exclusive titles/icons of some kind.
If it was something that simple, then they wouldn’t be so tight-lipped about it.
Or maybe because it is that simple, they are being tight-lipped about it.
Bloody marketing loops.
I felt that needed fixing.
Well played, Sir.
They don’t want a bunch of people flooding the market with used SF4’s that NOBODY will EVER buy. So they’re hanging the carrot on a stick for as long as possible.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they hold it past the SSF4 release tbh, and tell people to keep holding onto it just in case.
There’s another thread about how gamestop is currently offering a whole $4 for SF4 tradein. So in theory, if you get $5 worth of costumes for keeping it you’re better off holding on to it!
I’m going to guess the latter because Capcom’s announcements are usually pretty underwhelming.
I remember months ago they said there would be a “big announcement” at an upcoming date and it just ended up being that there would be a playable build of the new characters at an upcoming event (which, at the time, was just T.Hawk, Dee Jay and Juri). They made us wait for a big announcement only to say that we had to wait longer for something mildly exciting.
It sounds like a whole lot of hype for the sake of hype to me.
3s characters were not very underwhelming.
Of course most of the hype for SSFIV got shitfucked because of the leaked list.
Ya, the character reveals were all pretty exciting, but we knew they were coming.
It’s the times that they say “We have something exciting to reveal but you have to wait to find out what it is” that it ends up being something totally lame.
“Oh Look It’s Cody.”
The “Hi. I’m in Delaware.” entry for non-Alpha 3 players!
They should have waited on showing the new online modes, THAT shit was hype.
i’m starting to think that the leak was intentional…
everyone get super hyped at new modes characters etc and then spends the next 9 months hanging on Capcom’s every word to see if it was true or not…
pretty good way to keep SSF4 in the spotlight…
I was still excited to know if Hakan was real up until the moment he was revealed.
Capcom played us well.
Confirmation of an arcade version?

My Vote is in.
Bring it to the Arcade! Street Fighter will forever be an Arcade Game!
If you could only buy those viewlix cabs they had at the San Diego Comic Con a couple of years ago. I’d buy it. They weren’t coin operated, they just had 360’s in it.
Arcade release looking really doubtful.
What’s this talk of trading in SF4?
I thought we were collecters. People who had all iterations of SF games, arcade sticks, import games…I thought this world deserved a better class of geek, and we were going to give it to them…At this rate Gamefaqs will forever taint our image.
I guess you guys look up to gamefaqs. What-with all this trading in talk and spacktardistic fanboy arguments of SF>KOF>SC<<Tekken>>VF<<<SSBB etc
P.F.F.T.
Talk of trading in sickens me. And for what? $4…maybe $5. You lot are worse than whores. WHORES!
Well actually SFIV would have been the first game I traded in in years since Super SFIV is basically nothing but a souped up verison of a game I couldn’t really stand to play. I’m sure I’ll actually find the new game interesting.
Lets pray that Nakky blog has something good so we can go ESPN on our favorite Japanese players.
