I don’t see really good japanese feis, goukens, cammys, sakuras, gens… what is your point? I see tournament vids from usa/europe/ everywhere else and then watch japan and i don’t see a major differnence. People hype it up like it’s on another level or some shit but then again this is a anime community so what did a expect? People have anime avatars and a hentai thread…
We all know that at the end of the day, no matter who supports this decision or not, all the people saying that they won’t buy SSF4 if it’s not in arcades or whatever are gonna end up buying copies for both systems. -_-
yes arcade release. it is a must.
with no arcade release, is more likely that US will be better at this game than Japan
that’s because japanese fei gouken cxammys and sakura’s aren’t in the arcade. that’s his point he was making.
for the record, there are some really good japanese console character users. you just have to look harder for them on nico, and for a while, they showed up regularly on desoras youtube page
Hadn’t somebody within Capcom said that putting SSF4 in arcades would be as easy as updating the cabinets for vanilla SF4? Seems like it’d be silly not to update if that’s the case.
Maybe they’re being mum about confirming an arcade release for the same reason I’m guessing they haven’t confirmed a PC port yet: they figure the console release will pull the most revenue so they don’t want any alternative versions out on the market for a while lest they cannibalize sales.
I still no reason… uh sorry but having 20 arcade machines in the whole USA is pretty pointless
I’m pretty sure the US isn’t the main concern in this case.
DESORAAAA
Wow! His channel is very nice and has a lot of nice stuff O_O

On the subject of arcades: I think the software update is probably the route to go. I see no reason in releasing new cabinets but I do see a reason to release this to arcades.
I think the people who don’t care about an arcade release has never been to an arcade or an arcade with a proper SF4 setup.
I have an arcade with a vewlix setup near me and I can tell you the arcade setup is NOTHING like the console, even offline. The gameplay/execution is a lot smoother and there is ZERO lag. Even offline, the arcade release has way better input lag (I’m not talking about TV/monitor lag, I’m talking about input lag from the controller). When you play on PSN, there is absolutely no comparison even at 4 bars. It’s not the same game. Yes I still play on PSN regularity since capcom fucked us over by not having an arcade upgrade with console characters.
It’s sad because when SF4 came out there was a huge revival at the arcade scene which spilled over into other games like cvs2/marvel/3s. In the first month of the SF4 release I could show up at the arcade and there would be 20-30+ people in line to play SF4 and tons of people on the older machines. Lots of hype and lots of comp.
I actually like it better when there is NO console release and you have to go to the arcade to play.
I understand your point but for people like me, we have no arcades near us so we need the console version to practice. I’d be willing to travel to China Town Fair (the closest REAL arcade near me…just over 2 hours away) for a tournament but just to practice? Well then Street Fighter gets to be quite the pricey hobby.
Yeah it really sucks arcades pretty much died, but my point was capcom should serve those markets that still have arcades because of the points I outlined above. Yes there should be a console release but I think major tournaments should still be held at arcades, even if you have to drive 2 hours to get to them.
With the leak of BB:CS, I really don’t think this will happen. TTX2 prices have plummeted in Japan and the word is out that hardware is vulnerable. I highly doubt Capcom would release an arcade version now. They also won’t develop for a new arcade hardware platform because there isn’t one out there that is as PC based as TTX2 was.
Sad times.
Harsh reality - Arcades aren’t coming back. They’re destined for the same fall in Japan. I really don’t see the point of delaying the inevitable. Just get out there, find people who like the same games you play, and play them at home with friends. Besides, you can’t get wasted at the arcade.
That said, there’s a part of me that wants to cry every time I go to the mall and see the shell of the arcade that used to be there. I’d give up a lot to be able to go back thirteen years and play myself at XvSF, that first time I ever played.
says who
Well, i’m just speaking about arcades we used to have here, I haven’t been to a west coast arcade in almost eight years.
Public intox is fun though, good times, good times.
What is BB:CS? What about the TTX2 is vulnerable?
I don’t think arcades are going anywhere in Japan because of the culture of both the players and the Arcade operators. Japanese people still spend a lot of money at the arcade and where there is money there will be business.
Main stream Americans (people who play halo/MW2) are fat, lazy, and cheap, so they won’t go to arcades, but who cares? There are still a lot of people in the SRK/SF community that can keep an arcade running just as good as Japan. As I said before when SF4 first came out the SF community mobbed my local arcade that had a vewlix SF4.
The problem with American arcade operators were that they were buying cheap shit and not fixing their shit or keeping up with maintenance that contributed to it, even when there is money to be made. I myself and other SRK members have PERSONALLY seen once thriving arcade die due to extremely poor maintenance, and this was VERY recently. All they had to do is actually fix the machines and keep up with maintenance and they would likely still be here today.
My point is Japan has a working model for Arcades (better quality cabs, better maintenance, better culture) and we can do it over here. There is no need for Capcom to shit on our community and make it even harder for arcades to make a come back.
Times are changing. I’m all for an arcade release (in fact, I really want one) but the move to console is a step forward into bringing the community together (although not physically). If you play SF4 you most likely have a console but not everyone is fortunate enough to have a local arcade near them and/or the time to travel.
I really hope an arcade release happens…even though SF4 didn’t do as well as Capcom hoped (from what I understand)
