Petition for arcade release of SSF4

To ride the Ono hype-train. We all fell for it. Time to suck it up and play the shit out of it when it comes out for both consoles & arcades, lol.

This is not 1950s, business decision are no longer made by a small group of individual. Sometime the a corporation don’t even have the power to make their own decision.

Would you hire a CEO that ignore 66% of the opinion in the corporation?

ono always be turnin oyes sooner or later

ono i fell for a trap

I love when non-programmers estimate time allocations/requirements for programming efforts.

That is mad ignorant.

This has almost nothing to do with the issue at hand, but this historical nugget may be unknown to some members here:

Mega Man (1987, for Famicom/NES) had somewhat lackluster sales, so the executives at Capcom were adamant against making a sequel even though the development staff (Inafune and co.) really wanted to work on one. Eventually, the development team was forced to work on Mega Man 2 on their own time while working on other games that the executives wanted them to work on. Mega Man 2 ended up selling over a million copies and is widely considered the best in the series, etc.

I’m not sure how the story goes on how the execs reacted to the huge success of Mega Man 2, or if over two decades later, those guys are still in charge of Capcom making these decisions. I seem to recall more in-house disagreements like for maybe Dead Rising (also Inafune) as well, etc. But in any case, this is an aside that doesn’t apply to SSF4, which is a game that’s already being made. It’s a mystery to me.

I’m not a programmer. Are you implying that I’m wrong? If it seriously took more than a month, I’d eat my underwear on the stage at EVO.

I stopped reading right there.

This is the only smart post in the thread. Disagreeing with it only means you hate fighting games.

In any case, I want NY to get the upgrade. I like going to the arcade. CF was never more alive than when SF4 dropped. SSF4 arcade would only keep it going. Plus, I like being able to try games before I buy them.

If you live in a state that has no arcade, then sucks for you. Console was guaranteed for you anyway.

You could’ve stopped reading when I totally destroyed the point you’ve been arguing in every post.

Boo-yah!

If you are right about your costs then I’ll be happy to agree with you, but at this point you have no facts to back up what you’re saying.

Ive never been against arcades being released, what I’m against is Capcom losing money.

yeah fubar obv knows nothing about arcades

OH WAIT

Did Capcom lose any money with SF4? No. Will they lose money by releasing this in arcade in Japan/Cali/NY/TX? No. So, in conclusion: you sit and wait for console release while we enjoy the game. We’ll post about it.

capcom-has-not-given-up-on-arcade-super-street-fighter-iv

This is exactly what I was thinking. I think Ono is just fuckin’ with us for the most part, if he’s not then I know he’s trying to push for arcade release if not to make money but to appeal to the arcade fanatics in japan and america.

If they’ll go through the trouble of adding console characters to arcade they might as well put up an arcade release. Yeah it’s rumor but the guy that made it rumor was right about SSF4 in the first place. It’s hard to doubt this shit about being right.

I have patience (unlike ^ some) I can wait, but thanks anyways.

  • btw there is still no proof that it is coming to arcades yet, you just setting yourself up for a disappointment if it doesn’t happen.

Have patience until capcom makes an official announcement.

Wow. You are overlooking a LOT. By that logic, every business in the world that sells a product more than what it cost to produce is profitable and prosperous. Operating expenses and costs? What’s that mean??

Here’s the reality.

The only time they’ve really made money lately in their arcade business is with SFIV, and that was just one or two good quarters, and those sales are completely dwarfed in comparison to console.

Of all the turns this thread could make, of all the valid, respectable, fruitful, and idealistic arguments that can be made, people are actually trying to argue the financial benefit of doing this? Seriously?

Japan does not care about console when it comes to fighting games. The players don’t either. They care about American console sales.

I have no way of knowing if this is true or not. If that is true though that is pretty fucking heartless. We also happend to lose a few really good acrades here in the states, maybe they should show us some compassion.

^ E C Basically layed out all the info you guys should need regarding arcades and how they are failing.
