So does anyone else agree with me that if SOPA gets passed, someone is going to get capped? With the absolute outrage this has caused with anyone doing anything that isn’t outright “THIS BILL SUCKS”, you’d think an assassination wouldn’t be too far off…

Even nintendo? Why is this surprising at all? The wii is a complete trash system and the 3ds was a sales failure. They are running off of washed up icons who have repetitious games and have ridiculous business standards that total to make the company an annoyance for its gamers. For example, there is no fucking Ethernet port on the wii. You have to buy a wii adapter if you want to use wired internet for the wii. If you want to open a nintendo device, you have to buy a triwing screwdriver customized for nintendo products which isn’t available at pretty much any store in the world. Nintendo also uses graphics equivalent to the ps2 and xbox (180) in the year 2012. It’s no surprise that they aren’t doing that well. I hope they do even worse, so they realize they need to step their game up. . . fuck nintendo

We’re getting a bit off topic here but, The Wii may have been a “trash system” to some, but it sold millions and millions of units. It printed money for Nintendo. Nintendo is still beating the living shit out of both Microsoft and Sony combined right now in terms of overall sales and profit. However now that the Wii has become stagnant, PS3 and 360 and slowly catching up. 3DS actually has been doing decently since the price drop too. Also the reason Nintendo supports SOPA is because the original DS was one of the most pirated consoles out there as many bought R4 cards to play games for free and Nintendo wants to put a stop to those.

America could literally be easily destroyed by some foreign nerds as you call them who really know what they’re doing.

The US had its operation Iraqi Freedom or whatever, what if another country decided to do operation US Freedom and invade us?

The US needs to get its shit together. We are all Americans in this sinking ship called the US of A and we need to all work together and patch up or we’re going down.

As one expert consulted by GAO put it, “effects of piracy within the United States are mainly redistributions within the economy for other purposes and that they should not be considered as a loss to the overall economy.” In many cases—I’ve seen research suggesting it’s about 80 percent for music—a U.S. consumer would not have otherwise purchased an illicitly downloaded song or movie if piracy were not an option. Here, the result is actually pure consumer surplus: The downloader enjoys the benefit, and the producer loses nothing. In the other 20 percent of cases, the result is a loss to the content industry, but not a let loss to the economy, since the money just ends up being spent elsewhere. If you’re concerned about the overall jobs picture, as opposed to the fortunes of a specific industry, there is no good reason to think eliminating piracy by U.S. users would yield any jobs on net, though it might help boost employment in copyright-intensive sectors. (Oh, and that business about 19 million jobs? Also bogus.)

Does that mean online piracy is harmless? Of course not. But the harm is a dynamic loss in allocative efficiency, which is much harder to quantify. That is, in the cases where a consumer would have been willing to buy an illicitly downloaded movie, album, or software program, we want the market to be accurately signalling demand for the products people value, rather than whatever less-valued use that money gets spent on instead. This is, in fact, very important! It’s a good reason to look for appropriately tailored ways to reduce piracy, so that the market devotes resources to production of new creativity and innovation valued by consumers, rather than to other, less efficient purposes. Indeed, it’s a good reason to look for ways of doing this that, unlike SOPA,* might actually work*.
It is not, however, a good reason to spend $47 million in taxpayer dollars—plus untold millions more in ISP compliance costs—turning the Justice Department into a pro bono litigation service for Hollywood in hopes of generating a jobs and a revenue bonanza for the U.S. economy. Any “research” suggesting we can expect that kind of result from Internet censorship is a fiction more fanciful than singing chipmunks.

Piracy is NOT the issue here. It is censorship which I disagree with the most. People can create their own jobs through streaming and youtube and they want to take that away. EFF THAT! Piracy =/= theft. Take a look at Michelle Branch’s website, she lets you listen to her album for free and if you like a certain song there is a buy button(On a side note she supports Ron Paul =) ). Piracy is free advertisement and nothing different than if the radio were to play music or you go into a video game store and they have a game up that you can play. Most people resort to piracy as a service to see if they like a product. If the product is good then they buy it. I love Blizzard games and I buy all their games. Good products sells. Also, if I stole SC2 then an SC2 would be missing from the inventory physically. However, if I pirated or downloaded SC2 then I would have a copy and the original stays intact. Stores and companies can still sell their original
