Mmhmm. And that makes me sad. I’d at least like another Digital Devil Saga or something in that vein. But I’m afraid that we’re not going to see anything like that for a while. Persona and Catherine, like it or lump it, have probably done a lot to chart Atlus’ course for the next few years. Maybe if I had any inkling at all that Persona 5 would at least be more akin to the Persona 2 games, instead of likely following in 3 and 4’s footsteps, I wouldn’t be but so salty. :lol:

On that note? I still think that Namco did themselves a huge disservice with Tales. Easily the RPG series most apt for a fighting game adaptation and what did we get? 2009’s rather lacking “Tales of Vs.” for the PSP. Really shouldn’t be rocket science to make a quality Tales fighter. Most people probably would have been happy with Team Destiny making a 2D fighter using the ToD:R engine, or something to that effect. There’s still time, Namco.
Again, remember, it’s not like ASW went up to Atlus and requested to make the game; Atlus stepped to them with the job offer. An offer to make ASW some more money and possibly expand their appeal to another audience altogether? What was ASW supposed to say? “NO!”? :lol:
Honestly, if you really want to see a new GG that badly (in spite of how much I’m sure a new game will fall short of people’s expectations in one way or another)? That’s all the more reason you should hope this Persona project does well. Because if it does well, ASW gets more money from what could be turned into another possible franchise, which should go a good ways towards funding a hypothetical new GG game.

You know if you posted legitimate proof that GG was pushed away for this, I don’t think people would get riled up. But you’re literally just firing around assumptions and guesses about this game taking priority over GG, so I don’t know how you expected to view you, other than just being obnoxious.

Because of the comments in this thread I gave some thought of the whole “I want a new GG” thing and I hope all you GG players would agree with what I have to say:
I don’t want a brand new GG in HD graphics or 3D or whatnot, which will probably be ruined by trying to cater to a broader audience.
I think the best future for GG would be the “KOF98 Final Edition” treatment.
Nesica x live, same old graphics, and delicate balance changes that cater to the current GG player base. (And of course console ports a-la 3SOE)
Just give GG the ultimate polished version it deserves.
Blazblue makes a lot more money than GG. They cant sell $15 costume packs to people like Capcom or $60 betas of MvC3 and only have a small team compared to the outsourcing capcom does. It’s a no brainer to do more BB related work and this Persona deal was likely lucrative for them to warrant their involvement. Why exactly would they drop these to make a new GG that will likely sell less than BB regardless of whether it is better or not?
Dude, you came into a thread full of people who are excited about the game, threw a hissy fit, and called the game shit. Imagine this: ASW actually did announce a new GG, someone made a thread for it and everyone was excited and then someone came into the thread and said “Wow why are they still making this outdated bullshit? Where’s my new Blazblue? Enjoy this shitty game.”
I don’t get the feeling you’d see that post and reply with intelligent discussion, mostly because the initial post was not intelligent discussion. If you really want to be mature on these boards, and I mean REALLY, honestly, truly mature, when a company makes a game you don’t like or is making a different game instead of the one you want them to make, stay out of the threads of that game and don’t talk about them. No one wanted your negativity and it’s quite apparent that not many people here share your viewpoint. I get that you’re upset, but did you stop to think that maybe every opinion isn’t of the utmost importance to vocalize?

It has nothing to do with taking it personal and I’m certain no one hates you, but negativity begets negativity. What you’re basically saying is that you should be able to go around and say whatever negative thing you want and no one should be allowed to say anything negative to you because you didn’t attack a person with that negativity when that simply isn’t how things work. Replying to you with personal attacks most likely wasn’t trying to get anything to stop, but rather let you know how asinine your post was and how no one wanted your negativity in the thread.
If you say something immature and negative about a THING, people are going to say something immature and negative to YOU. It’s not very complicated and it can be easily avoided by, as previously mentioned by several people in this thread including myself, NOT saying that immature and negative thing. If you specifically would ignore a post that is unambiguously and undoubtedly shitting up a thread congratulations, but that doesn’t mean that post was a good post that added to discussion or should be exalted from being mocked or attacked.

Wow, I’m really hoping this is trolling because even though I know people are stupid, I’d like to think that not as many people are this stupid. I’d be more than down for this, if only because I pretty agree with what someone said earlier that a lot of the people actively kvetching about there still going to be no new Guilty Gear are going to be among the subset of dancing mad when it turns out not be exactly how they wanted it to be.

Let’s not start a decision about whether those are “good” games or not; kinda besides the point, which is that a lot of people are really self-entitled “nowadays” (read: it’s always been there, but the Internet has made it worse and more apparent).
Hmmm… if “3D” = 3D *gameplay, *then holy hell NO, don’t do that for a new GG.
If it JUST means graphics, however… I think there is some potential for a GG (or BB) to go that route. I definitely would NOT want it to look like SFIV, however… something more like, as Lord_Raptor said, a “3D models that kinda look like really fluid 2D sprites” look.
Still, I’d be fine if they just stuck with sprites, as well. Certainly the screens of Ultimate Mayo (credit to d3v :D) look absolutely stunning so far; hard to argue with the idea of just sticking with 2D when these are the apparent results.
I can sort of see where you are coming from, Last Dragon, but… I have to agree with those who have basically said that even going INTO the thread just to say the game’s gonna blow and crap on the other non-GG game the team has done… why even DO that in the first place? Might not even have to imagine it, cause I guarantee you that when/if ArcSys does announce a new GG, there will of course be a thread for it, and someone WILL say exactly that (possibly word for word!). Speaking as someone who prefers BB to GG, I would still find it dumb to go into the GG thread just to yell and tear it down and declare that it will be crap because it’s not BB.
