Custom stuff could be like SDBZ, didn’t the arcade version come with cards that kept track of your character?
I think it would be more like Arcana Heart with the Arcana’s and such. I wonder if social links will play a role in that department as well; I imagine seeing stat boosts (and decreases for balancing) depending on with a social link you decide to use.
More than likely, the more i think about the more likely it is they’ll go the arcana route. Even going so far as to use the same base character upgrades based on the persona chosen i.e. Health boost, extra air jump/dash, increases dmg, etc
I think you’re expecting too much from the RPG side. If they do do something like that it will probably be in a separate mode like BlazBlue’s Abyss mode.
No reasons not to put a fighting game spin on RPG mechanics especially if its in the vein of arcana heart.
I’m not saying it’s impossible (if I recall Soul Calibur has been doing something resembling that recently) I just think it’s unlikely. Maybe I’m just a pessimist, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up about it straying too far from conventional fighting game mechanics.
Given the fact that the Persona team is collaborating with Arcsys its not that big of a stretch to see them wanting Persona mechanics to be represented in some form in this. I welcome it anything that would make this game stand out from other fighters.
Well then, YOU can DEAL with that FACT that Atlus and ArcSys chose to announce a fighter based off an RPG over announcing and showcasing a new Guilty Gear. So how about you START dealing with it and stop making yourself look like a selfish child with your retarded "QQ"ing.
Anyway, I’m hyped for this, even though I personally wish Atlus would quit it with the Persona milking already (I want another legit SMT game for console). Makes me want to see a DDS:AT fighter now.
If Naoto and Mitsuru make it in as playable, I’ll have no complaints.
Well Persona is by far their most popular and most profitable franchise, so you can’t really blame them for placing most of their focus on it. To be honest I wouldn’t hold my breath for a true SMT game on a console anytime soon, since unlike Persona they don’t really need to use that kind of hardware to make a proper SMT. (Although seeing SMT demons in HD would be great.) I do hope to see at least one non-Persona spin-off (a la DDS) on a console at some point.
Anyway, Naoto is pretty much a guarantee (I see no reason she wouldn’t be in if everyone else is) but I’m not sure about Mitsuru.
I would kill for Digital Devil Saga characters. Oh well.
(feels embarrassed for being a Guilty Gear fan like another certain person who is probably not trolling with his stupidity)
Ugh. SRK blew up on me yesterday and I got horribly sidetracked today. Damn lack of time management. I need the Chrono Trigger or something to get back my wasted life at this point. Save me, Marle!
Ah, right. Thanks.
I will again say that I’ll laugh my ass off if the “guest” character, if there is any, is 2D Dante.
The thing is, we already got a damn good “true” SMT game relatively recently: Strange Journey on the DS. And sadly, it TANKED. Badly.
So yeah, I can’t blame Atlus for opting to focus on the likes of Persona and Catherine. I DO, however, feel free to blame those who continue to cry out for a “real” SMT, but didn’t buy SJ and do their part to show Atlus that we still want games of this sort. At this point, it probably will be a very long time before we see anything like SJ, SMT3 or DDS again.
From what I recall it sold okay. It was no Persona, but it wasn’t a high budget release, so I don’t believe it actually tanked as bad as it might seem. But I do agree that there’s very little chance that they’re going to risk a major investment with a console SMT game after that. When we get another one I’m sure it will stay on handhelds.
Dude…just your mindset about the damn issue kinda pissed a lot of the people in here…so yeah that is what is going to happen if you say stuff like that and not think it through people would get upset.
Teddy for top tier sensei!
Brosuke, and Junpei…all day!
You reap what you sow.
I do hope that the game is sucessfull. Imagine if other RPGs do follow suit in the FG genre? That would be godlike.
I’d die for a Suikoden FG. Especially with all of the narcissists playable.
o_O yeah sure guy
I would die for a new suikoden game period lol
