Pelican PS2 Real Arcade Stick Mod

How do you guys think my stick turned out? I got kinda pissed when I found out that my converters didn’t work for it. I abandoned a more ambitious idea for the art because of the fact that I can’t use it on my PS3. So as a last ditch effort I cut up a Tips & Tricks magazine and applied a SFIV decopage design to the stick. Feedback? Also how are you guys posting pics in your posts? I can’t get it to work.

Sorry to hear that it no longer properly functions with your ps3. I guess I lucked out with having a ps2 version since mine still works as of the last update using the pelican adapter. Maybe you could drop in a psx pcb and use one of the working ps2->usb adapters? It’d be a shame to put a perfectly good case and joystick/buttons to waste.

Unfortunately I never did find anything in regards to the problems I mentioned earlier.

Anyone have any input on this?

Using Pelican’s Universal Arcade Stick with PC?

Hello, fellow gamers,
I own the universal version of Pelican’s arcade stick (works with PS2, Xbox and Nintendo). I don’t have a console anymore, but I’m hoping to dust off this arcade stick and put it to good use when SF4 comes out for PC in July.

Does anyone know of a USB adapter that works for this stick? Thanks in advance!

The Super Joybox 10 converter works with the xbox plug to pc. Should work on mac too.

I found out long ago that most multi-console pcbs are a little finicky with converters. I used the innovation converter (psx to Dreamcast) which was supposed to be the best dreamcast converter, and found out it didn’t work with the stock pelican universal pcb.

Thanks

Thanks for the tip :bgrin:. The converter you mentioned is back-ordered at the moment but I’ll keep my eyes out for a restock. :karate:

Take care,

Thrust07 - do you know for sure that that adapter will work? I also have a Pelican Real Arcade Universal stick and would like to use it on my PC for SF4 and mame.
Didierb, did you end up getting one of the Joybox adapters, and if so, did it work for you?

Since I ordered a madcatz TE stick, I decided to sell my Pelican Universal stick rather than modding it out like I originally intended. I have the PS2 to PS3 adapter that works for PC. Haven’t tested it out yet on a PS3, but it’s the same adapter in this thread that people said worked with the PS3.
I’m asking $75 plus shipping obo
If interested, drop me a Private message.

i have this pelican real arcade stick, but i make a misstake because i wanna make experiments cutting the xbox port and try soldering the usb cable but doesnt work, now i dont remember the exact colors of the cable to resolde the cable to the xbox adapter, and some one can put how put the original xbox 360 controller on this arcade stick because its too diferent of the madcatz 360 controller, regard

Im not a big fan of Pelican but this looks like a good make and model for a simple PCB and button switch-a-roo.

its not too simple to convert to usb.regards

Here’s a picture of my Pelican mod. Took off the top plate and re-cut/fitted a quarter inch wood panel.

It’s an old picture, but for the most part, all the revisions I’ve made look similar. I’ll post 'em up later when I take pictures.

My best mod ever. I also love the fact that it has a cable box to store the wires.

As I mentioned in the coverters thread, the Gamemon USB adapter sold by Walmart works with the Gamecube plug. It’s 10 bucks with no shipping for those still looking.

So sorry I haven’t checked back here in such a long time, MakThaNife. I didn’t realize you had asked me a question. Yes, the SuperJoyBox 10 allowed me to plug Pelican’s Universal stick into a USB port on my PC, which now runs Windows 7. No driver was necessary and the stick works well in Street Fighter 4. I recently got a PS3, but the console did not like the adapter. I’m considering modding an old Namco arcade stick for PS1 I’ve had since the days of Tekken 2 to use with the PS3.

I dont know if this is right but I got a pelican stick and have the xbox to usb. When I plus it in the PS3 it says it doesnt recognize the device? Did I buy the wrong piece or what?

Gamer Daddy, I just got one of these sticks off eBay, and haven’t messed around with it much, but I can guess that the problem you’re having is that an XBox controller doesn’t show up as a standard gamepad/etc…on a PC, it needs a driver when you use a USB adapter (or just slap a USB plug on the cable)

The converters people are mentioning in this thread are for the PS2 plug -> USB, not the XBox plug.

Hey you guys have any pic for a hack pad? I am looking at faux123 tutorial and decided the time is now and finally do this myself. I have a pelican real arcade universal which I gutted and ordered parts from lizard licks. I want to kno how to hack the madcatz pad and had a question about the resistor. Why do you need them and how many do you need and where do they go? I am new to this and willing to learn it. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time.

I just picked up the universal version and when I plug it into my xbox the screen goes black. any Idea why?
