Peacock Thread: Straight From Toontown

yesh. it was asked 10 posts ago =]

Pretty minor, but one of her chainsaw reference in her qfc MP is Chain Sawd from PSO. Peacock<3

The evil dead chainsaw is one she uses in the air IIRC.

Alex mentions it in this video, around the 2min mark http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-art-style-walkthrough/714719

Peacock’s basic gameplan can be basically be summed up as chucking stuff at your opponent to try to keep them out of your personal space and harass their’s with a few moves, such as her Level 3, to punish those who actually get in close. However, she seems to have trouble covering the 45 degree angle above her. The “standard” assist combination with her is usually an anti-air assist. As far as I know the following are the possible anti-air assist available per character:

Filia- Updo
Cerebella - Excellebella or Devil Horns
Parasoul - Napalm Pillar
Ms. Fortune - **Nyantiair **
Painwheel - Buer Reaper? This can hit upwards from the ground?
Valentine - errr… does she have an anti-air?
Double - Luger Replica or Hornet Bomber

If I recall correctly from the SCR footage, Ms. Fortune’s Nyantiair seems to cover Peacock’s weak spots VERY WELL with great range too boot. However, I’m uncertain of how well they DHC into each other. Feral Edge is only good in the air and Peacock tends not to keep her opponents there for very long. With her head on, Cat Scratch Fever has Invulnerable start-up but is only effective from half screen or closer and is punishable on block. Fifth of Dismember of course can’t be relied on as its a Level 3 and only works up close. From Fortune to Peacock I suppose Cat Scratch Fever with head on > Argus Agony seems good. Anything into Lonesome Lenny always works and is pretty safe but I’m skeptical of its usefulness.

Updo has less duration and less range. It also hits straight up rather than at 45 degrees so your opponent has to be closer to you to use well. However it appears to be faster, have more invulnerability and DHCing into Fenrir Drive seems like a strong counter play. As an alpha counter, it appear to leave you in a better position to follow-up for combos.

**Excellebella and Devil Horns both do good damage but have worse range than the other options from what I can see. Excellebella **should be better since it knocks opponets away rather than up which should be good for Peacock. I’m not sure what Peacock offers to Cerebella though. Most of her moves are built to harasses rather than pin down.

Napalm Pillar has great range but from what I can tell but also hits straight vertical. What I like about Parasoul is that as the only other real zoner in the game, I feel she is well complimented by Peacock’s projectile based assists. George at the Air Show hits those who try to jump over the Napalm Shot barrage and Boxcar George harass those who try to duck them.

Luger Replica (MP I think) covers an awkward portion of the screen and Hornet Bomber could not be more unsafe on block but it also pushes the opponent quite far on hit. Argus Agony into Bandwagon Rushdown seems like an excellent DHC option, especially to counter those who try to take advantage of the pause such as Parasoul and her sniper shot.

I’m kind of stumped on Painwheel and Valentine. I’m not sure how they mix with Peacock and vice-versa. General thoughts on everything?

I played a bunch of Peacock/Fortune at Frosty Faustings and can confirm that nyantiair is a fantastic assist and that dhcs from Fortune to Peacock are very good, while the other way is not so great unless you’re in the corner.
I’m hesitant to put Peacock and Double together because they both burn meter so much. Peacock needs meter to get any significant damage off zoning and Double seems very meter reliant. Her supers are excellent for shutting down zoning, improving rushdown and doing massive damage, but without them she is a low-mobility character with minimal range game. The only way I could see it working if you run a team of three with Peacock/battery/Double.

What about little homing drop assist for CereCock? Opponent should stop and block - Bella could use this time to get little closer.

How quick is the recovery on Peacock’s teleport? It seems like throwing out a slow-moving projectile and then teleporting would actually make for some good mixups but I don’t really see Peacock players using anything but the fake teleport.

It’s because most people have item drops held all the time and you can only do the fake during it.

Loving her so far

Best design in the game hands down. Maining her. No question.

She reminds me of BB Hood… MUST PLAY HER!!! X_____X

oh hai everyone
i won’t lie i had no interest in this game
but i don’t know what happen a couple minutes ago i became a fan
and this is one of the chars i want to use

i needs an avatar now hmmm

Welcome to the club =]

The only way to not have interest in this game is to not know anything about it. I feel there’s a lot of people who just haven’t researched enough of the game to care or are just initially not seeing a character design they love. Which is not surprising considering you have to like eccentric character designs to begin with to get into the characters visually. Coming from playing 3rd Strike and Guilty Gear I love weird/different character designs that make you think. You don’t get all of the character just by looking at them basically.

I’m convinced it’s the best new fighter to come out since SFIV. Especially considering it’s a new IP and everything.

yeah, that was the case with me and still is, i have research to do. Having only 8 chars and being 3v3 was really throwing me off though, i really dislike mirrors and luckily in most games i wouldn’t run into the chars i used often (mvc2:ruby/tron/jill mvc3:hsien/task./hawk sf4/3s:ibuki sfxt:asuka/poison) but after seeing matches i can overlook that, it’s just so fast and i love that

Running Peacock and Parasoul right now. Not sure what assist to set Peacock to for Parasoul. Parasoul seems all around even, but there has to be something from Peacock’s moveset that helps her the most.

Yo Peacock is dope!

Anyone got a decent BnB down yet? Having trouble putting together an air combo for her…

I was thinking messing around with loops involving Flip the Bird that don’t set off the IPS, but it’s not working out so far…her air buttons are kind of awkward imo.

Let me know what you guys come up with, I’ll do the same…

Peacock’s George at the Air Show assist is absolutely amazing for Cerebella, and Peacock’s HP. Item Drop is beyond amazing in general. (Not as an assist.)

Anyone got any good day 1 bnbs for Peacock? She doesn’t have an OTG so I don’t see how useful air combos would be for her.
