Hey guys, just posting an archived Skullgirls stream that took place on Saturday, if anyone was interested in watching it, the first hour and a half is the actual tournament and after that it’s casuals. I was using my signature Peacock/Double team and actually took the tournament, despite a valiant effort by Bmeister Any tips/advice you could give me on my playing style would be much appreciated, if nothing else you should watch 48:45-49:10.
Also, not sure if this was known or not, but you can dash-cancel any of Peacock’s normals. This means you can dash-cancel her j.HP, if you do it fast enough it will skip the dash animation and just look like you’re doing j.HP one after another. This essentially gives you a double backdash, so ya
I’m trying to apply Lenny to gameplay today. For those who have Peacock second on their team, and have their opponents in a corner combo, try DHC’ing into Lenny. So far I can see an instant overhead j.mp cr.mp cr.mk cr.hp s.hk qcf+lp xx qcf+pp (immediately off of Bang) would be a good setup. It’s a ton of damage for a simple setup too. Then again that’s assuming they don’t tech out… which then I guess you need to anticipate and throw them back in the corner and just go into Argus. Hmm Lenny… you fat immobile bastard.
Does anyone her know or have the gamertag “KiddxKhaos”? I fought that dude today, he was maining solo Peacock, and it was the best Peacock I’ve seen yet. He wasn’t using them zoning scrub tactics, he was in my face, doing all sorts of fucking crazy shit. And I was Solo Cerebella. I’m pretty fucking okay at this game, and I’ve never, fuckin… Just play this dude. Invite him to a room (he has a full friends roster), and Solo Peacock (just so you can see how yours matches up to his). You’ll learn some shit, I swear to god.
Sorry, didn’t mean to imply that Zoning takes no skill. I just have a passionate “dislike” for any and all Zoners from any and all genres of games. They make me so angry, and I can’t play one without getting mad at what I’m doing. “What’s that? I couldn’t hear you over the barrage of shit you’ll die from before you get a chance to fight me looooool!”
I don’t want to. That’s why this game lets you pick one character, so people can do it. I’m not going to pick another character for their assist (Which would be all I would be doing, since I don’t like any of them enough to main). If another character comes out that I honestly like, I’ll try her. Until then, we’re smashing in faces with Pinkbella.
No, I win against a majority of the Peacocks I fight. Even the dude who had the amazing Peacock, after I got used to his style of fighting the odds were in my favor most of the time. I can beat zoning Peacock, I just hate zoning. I much prefer to fight in someones face. Even in shooting games, I hate Snipers. I hate Archers, and Mages. I hate anyone who doesn’t fight straight up. Well, except for people who fight at mid range; like, with whips or lances.
Seriously… why is everyone even… Do you have xbl? Let’s fight, like gentlemen. We’ll see whether or not playing the game the way I want to is better than following the majority.
Dhalsim is a mid range fighter, imo. Yeah, his pokes are ridiculously long, but he can not only be hit out of them (like, they aren’t arrows or bullets), but they don’t reach the whole screen. I think in comparison, they go a little further than Titan Knuckle. He’s mid range combined with run away, though, and it makes him seem more annoying, but he can’t stand all the way at the edge of the screen throwing out moves that can hit you when aren’t in range. I think only his weak fireball will even reach the edge like that, and it’s slow (at least, in sf4).
This doesn’t have anything to do with whether or not I’m right in my opinion and personal preferences…?
Also, I may have not made it clear earlier, I have played characters that are not grapplers in other games. This one, with it’s limited character selection didn’t give me a great choice. So I picked my favorite.
That’s something you need to work on, if you are getting frustrated off the bat, then you’ve already lost. Zoning relies on the opponent getting frustrated or impatient, leading to poor/hasty decisions that will get punished. Be patient, remember your tools, mixup your approach, and try to control what buttons he presses by forcing him to commit to something predictable.
