lol but to be serious he was definitely beasting all night, boo seth boo
You missed the extra 20 or so in a row he put on me after everyone else left. Fun… but ouch.
Nice work in the video, turns out I was right about needing exposure to Seth, heheh.
ouch but fun is right lol.
frankly id like to say that i appreciate it when Simon plays at full compacity, getting beat by him is one of the best ways for me to learn ATM.
so thanks Simon:tup:
We are still on schedule for this Saturday, haven’t heard from anyone yet but people have a way of filtering in anyway. If you’ve been thinking about it but haven’t been able to motivate, make this the week you come out and we will offer you some uplifting competition.
I’m uncertain about my situation this weekend, I really really want more practice but unless it rains or my dad decides he doesn’t need my help with what-have-you, then I’m boned.
If not this week, then I will probably make it next week.
I got some practice at versis the last 2 weeks, but this thursday I spent like the whole night trying to teach my friend to play street fighter.
I’m gonna be locked in at Versis this weekend, but it’s a good thing–lots of birthday parties for once
But I’ll be with you guys in spirit and I hope you guys have some awesome, memorable matches!
Hey I think I should be free on Sunday, around noon or 1, if you are down for some games. I don’t have a stick though, if that is a problem.
It is possible that we could play some Sunday but we will have to play it by ear.
been looking forward to it all week, ill be there today and i may be free on Sunday to come play too but we’ll see. Jermoie, is jeremy coming this week?
Edit: nice to see Nick posting in here. itd be awesome to see you over there sometime, get some matches in since your usually fairly busy at versis.
Cool! PM me or something to let me know about tomorrow.
Nice chill day yesterday. We had another newcomer brave enough to come to my dungeon, Joe aka SLAYU2 brought some decent Ryu and Cammy to the table. Those who did not show, you were missed. Maybe it was the rain.
Next week will be open as usual, everyone practice and bring your FADC tricks up a level and show us what you really got.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the 3S and ST matches. Yogaaaaaaaa.
any plans for today?(sun) if you could get jeremy and me and monkiesarefun came we could have a nice session
I think monkeys is coming for sure, Jeremy is now here.
I gotta do house stuff, I can’t sorry. Thanks for having me over sat.
too bad monkiesarefun dident make it out(you shoulda called jeromie or something) but was still fun none the less, those random matches get pretty ridiculous lol
I feel like Im getting a better understanding of Gen. He still stomps me but I can sort of see things here and there.
I need to learn more focus attack stuff. Slayu2?(name escaping me) was really good with them. Stuff like owning jump ins or pokes followed by dash mixups seems really interesting. I need to practice that.
I also need to get SRK->ultra down and SRK->FADC->ultra too
Two things right away with Gen are gonna be:
#1. The wingnut grasshoppa crossup middle kick is going to lead you into a world of hurt if you don’t learn how to block it (this goes for all crossups obviously but Gen’s is pretty long ranged…)
#2. He has two different jumps, one per stance, and he can switch stance immediately (1 frame) so his jump distance is really unpredictable. This will mess with your spacing.
As far as ultra/super, you can punish people simply for jumping over fireballs with your super - just a little fyi just in case…
Also, I would love to see everyone stepping up their FADC game (especially me, i suck at it pretty bad right now) because its a fun dynamic to the game that can mess with people, as well as being a leadin to some really huge damage.
yeah im sure hes alot to take in at once, when you play someone really using both of his stances. but like i said he is generally slow, not the slowest in the game but when you compare his pokes to Ryu’s and other shoto’s(or high tiers) his pokes will get beat out if used repeatedly at the same time. which is why you see me jab alot because its my fastest poke and gives me the best chance of not getting stuffed(ive seen shoto’s sweeps beat about 80% of my other pokes), from MK range its a bit more of an even playing ground though you have fireballs so if you use your strengths against mine there is only so much i can do.
When i face Ryus that really shut me down they almost never allow me to jump in on them(SRK) and control the momentum of spacing with fireballs, cause if i cant get the spacing i want i cant cross you up, leaving me with only ground game which isnt gen’s #1 category(fairly slow). And like you said Slayu2(Joe) was busting out some nice FA work which can also work on me since i dont have a nigh instant low hitting SRK that can break the armor after you absorb my air attack. But i would say srk’s are usually the better option cause eventually ill figure out the FA pattern and just safe jump > throw or break the armor some other way like Gen’s 2 hitting j.HK that i dont utilize to its potential yet that could give FAs trouble.
Basically use faster attacks then i even have like jabs and c.LK(they’ll recover faster then Gen’s), use your bomb DP to wreck my air game(when im sloppy), and eventually youll notice that i have to play from like mid screen with you(MK & c.MP distance) which your not bad at either with fireballs and c.MK > w/e. At least thats my view on it ATM.
The up close game is kind of a wall that im stuck on because a lot of characters(especially high damaging high tier ones) can usually out poke me if we are up close which ends up with a decent combo on a character with sub par HP. So i havent gotten over the hurdle of figuring out how to have the advantage when im in that situation, throws seem to be my best option but theres gotta be more to it. i also need to mess with FAs more like FADCforward throw is pretty good, i just have trouble committing because i feel seasoned players wont fall for it(and having 900 hp i can only afford so many mistakes) and to dash after they block your FA requires even more commitment because it seems like you have to choose which direction to dash before you know weither your FA hits or is blocked, i could use more insight on that whole process.
edit: sorry for so many parenthesies lol
Yeah jab combos are confusing to me, it’s one thing to try and confirm a medium strength move but two jabs seems like a really short window to confirm something. I guess I don’t have very good reflexes haha.
I noticed a lot of my really good combos can be connected off of jabs though, I’m just not any good at doing it/hit confirming it.
yeah theres alot of links in this game, im not the biggest Ryu player but im pretty sure you can link jab into MP(though it might have to be crouching), an easier one that i know forsure is c.LP(up to 3 times) > c.MK > fireball(or w/e you want).
also on timing jabs, technically you only have to time the “last” jab perfectly so your able to link afterwords, if you do the combo i listed(with 3 c.LPs) you can chain/mash the the first 2 punches completely and even the third but after the third jab hits you have to time the medium strength move perfectly to be able to make it a legit combo. but if you want to be a perfectionist you can actually link all 3 jabs which honestly isnt that hard with most high tier characters like Ryu and Balrog, when you have like 4+ frames to get the next move out in time(Balrog has 7 frames to combo if his c.LP hits) its pretty easy, its only when you get to the more “disadvantaged” characters where you only have as small of a window as 1 frame to link some moves.
if you look at frame data you can easily check which moves can and cant be linked and see how much time you have to link them.
Edit: also if you ever have any questions like this you can always post them in the Oregon Roster & Discussion thread, thats half the reason its there:tup:(i know you werent begging for advice lol but its good to post in that thread, keep it at the top of the list)
