PC: SSF4 AE - How is it online?

Plus, you lose PP extremely fast if you lose (up to 200points per match), so modding that has no point at all. Wasted effort.

Well, having it forced like this via D3Doverrider was supposedly the way to go. I assume you want it stuck on 60 fps, like I have it now, for fighting games. Vsync was always a big no-no for me while playing fps games though, but I honestly don’t think it’s any graphic issues. It’s more likely internet related, but wired 13mbit and 33ms on tests shouldn’t be a problem either.

I obviously ran into laggers on ps3 as well, but yesterday on pc it was like every second game and I only played green bars. Guess I might just be unlucky with wifi’ers.

lags like fuk and fps bugs cause fps lag

Its not just you I’ve had the exact same experience. I dont know how people figure that there are alot of players on pc I dont know what standard they are using to come to that conclusion. I think in time the player base will grow hopefully. I also come across alot of laggers and rage quitters on pc alot more than on console, and thats a BIG minus for me.

I had the same thought about PSN being better tho I will say on pc when the connection is good its pretty damn good.
I think game itself is better on the pc, it loads faster everything seems so seamsless.

For whatever reason last night I had something over 400 PP, then played and won a match and mysteriously only had 298 after that. I’ve got no clue what went on there, plus I went on a losing streak after that (everyone I played had like 2000 PP, whereas my highest was 511), so finally ended up somewhere in the mid 300’s at the end of the night.

Moral of the story: don’t care about PP lol, building it up seems pointless. Maybe I’ll just do endless more.

did you find player matches boring as well in vanilla? =/
2 person endless = player match. I would rather have a bunch of matches in a row rather than wait

Doesn’t change the fact that there are always people online for me to play against at all hours. How could it be then, that there aren’t that many people playing? There’s enough that I don’t ever have a problem finding a great connection, or great players. To me, that’s enough players.

Online felt really smooth today. Encountered a few laggers, but was lag free with just the few exceptions. Guess it was just bad luck with constant wireless people and perhaps some internet hiccups yesterday. Now if we could only get that patch everything would be swell.

I concur with what the gentleman above has so eloquently stated.

Console has been significantly superior to PC for me so far.

I had to turn v-sync off to get anything remotely playable and now I have constant screen tearing.

The menus lag too, WTF?

I have two questions I’d like someone to answer please, I’m considering buying this game but I have two doubts, what happens if the download stops? Can I download infinite times when I buy it? Or is there a retarded and draconian limit? The second one is, what does the game use to play online, Live? Steam? It’s own servers? What exactly? Because if it’s steam only, my country does not have it available and I’d be buying it needlessly (I already have ssf4 for ps3). So when I want to play, which servers or services does it use to play online?

If the download stops, it doesn’t matter, you can resume where you left off, and you can download your purchased game an infinite number of times with no restrictions. The game uses Games for Windows Live for online play, no matter where you purchased the game.

Perfect, thank you for the information.

Anyone who thinks this is the best version of the game is delusional. This is hands down the worst version of the game.

Most people online have A benchmark ratings, and theres still frame rate issues. If you get an A @ 60-70fps the game will still have framerate issues, even offline.

This results in the shittiest online experience ever.

Necrotrophic I’ve played you and there wasn’t a slight bit of lag.

Perhaps you didnt notice it. There have been like 3 games total that didnt have lag(by lag, i mean frame rate issues) for me. Im having a seriously hard time getting even simple charge moves out on time, and this does not happen on my 360, ever.

Then there’s something wrong on your end.
I just did a ft10 with a Blanka after a couple hours of Ranked and there was one single Cody player in the whole Ranked session where Input lag+weird framerate was occurring.

Claiming everyone is delusional just because you’re having problems is quite Egotistic.

By far this is the best version of the game. I’ve played all 3 to know this.

Average frame-rate of 60 FPS means your minimum frame-rate is below 60 FPS and cannot handle the game without slow-down. Either change your settings so you maintain an average of over 100 FPS, or upgrade your computer. I honestly feel like the benchmark needs some refining, and grades should be based on minimum frame-rate over a longer benchmark.

In over 300 matches, only 5 of them have been unplayable, only 10 had stuttering issues, and only 8 had noticeable input delay that messed with my combo timing. That’s a measly 7.6% of my games being less than perfect so far. Shitty? Not by any means.

The problem you are having, whatever it may be, is on your end.

Upgrade j00 pc

Don’t fixate on that “A” grade. An average of 60-70 fps is not enough imho. Go for 80-100 fps or play an hour and log the fps with fraps during the whole time.
It’s the minimum fps that’s important. Average fps tells nothing. The min fps shouldn’t fall a single time under 60 fps. Otherwise with vsync enabled (and triple buffering disabled) you’ll get a halving of the framerate => lag spikes.

And you’re delusional if you think everyone has the same issues you do. This thread is full of positive experiences, and Marn and Arturo have both praised the PC version in their tweets. In fact when they played each other, Marn said that it was like playing offline.

If you have proper hw and connection, this is by far the best iteration of SF4, and the closest to offline possible.
