PC: SSF4 AE - How is it online?

People with lag issues and supposed good enough hardware-try playing on the training stage. If there is noticeably less FPS lag then your computer just isn’t fast enough or you need a better video card. You could also accomplish the same thing by turning the stage detail to low.

The PC version is amazing with decent hardware although there are some weird graphic issues with character dust or shadows…even with everything on the lowest setting/resolution certain flame animations or dust trails slow the system down quite a bit.

The net is fine.
But the players are awful

Seriously if I lose to another random ultra on wakeup trash Evil Ryu I’m gonna personally go to their residence and go Duke Nukem on their ass.

Also I played a horrible Yang who couldn’t even block because he was so terrible and he pulled the plug when his fullscreen ultra didn’t connect.

Who’s more awful - the wake up ultra spammer or the guy who couldn’t adapt and got caught (apparently several times)?

I got enough mail with the same content: “Muah you have to play better so I can beat you!” No need to bring this here too.

Apart from that the PC version is imo the best. Best lag and best loading times. And I see no difference in the competition from PSN. I never played on XBOX Live so I can say nothing about the skill level there

I find there’s a lot more lag than there were in vanilla. I don’t know if it’s me but sometimes it lags when my opponent picks a graphic intense stage with a lot of animation in the bg. There are times where my connection is fine when played in these type of stages.
Pisses me off when there’s a sudden burst of lag during my combo and I get punish then die because of it. It happens too often in AE. I’ve also experience sudden lag where both me and my opponent couldn’t move for 5s or so. Never seen that happen in vanilla. I’m not sure how Capcom made the netcode worst than it was.

Mine is great online, I am very happy with it, IMO the best as well. Even good on yellow bars for me. There are some killers playing on PC too.

Benz, are you playing with renderthread=off, no AA, vsync=off and framerate on fixed?
If yes, then it’s strange that you got so much lag. Otherwise put them like that and see if it gets better.

This game is very bad. I get perfect green pings with people and the lag is horrible. I cant move, I cant do combos. The same people I have actually played with on 360, and no lag. I DONT GET IT AND IM RAGING.

Ugh…the more i play online the more I’m starting to hate it ONLY because of the complete retardation of blocking on reaction online.
Full screen dash punches, neckbreakers, MGB’s will all hit you despite you pressing back the moment you see them. Even Yun’s lunge punch isnt that hard to block on reaction but if you are lucky only 1/10 times it will be blocked. You can’t press forward for more than half a second online because you have no clue what random shit you will get hit by next.
I don’t have a problem with people throwing out random moves but honestly blocking them shouldn’t be this much of a fucking problem. If they do it right next to you i’d understand but this shit is fucking full screen and you still get hit…its amazing what you can get away with online.
Just my rant. This is starting to seem worse than vanilla sf4 online, jesus.

Another reason why MvC3 should just come out for PC. At least in that game what you can’t block online is usually what you can’t block offline since everything is moving at the speed of light.

Yeah reaction blocking is definitely a problem online.

LOL, I thought I was the only one experiencing this problem. I played this Yun who just kept doing lunge punch and jumping back. I wanted to be offensive and walked forward, he would lunge punch, I block and still got hit. Every single time this happened, I got hit, only when I held back the entire time would I block. Needless to say, I got random’d and was very salty. Of course he doesn’t come back, that’s another issue I have with AE PC. People don’t want rematches, they seem pretty content with getting away with one win, but that’s another story.

Bought the game but haven’t played with it yet, as I’m waiting for my MC Fightpad to be delivered, but you guys are making me feel like I’m gonna regret what I did.
Is the online really that bad?

No, it’s not bad especially when compared to the console versions. For anyone having problems there’s another for whom it runs perfectly. If your machine is at least semi-modern and you have a good stable connection, you’re good. If you read the whole thread you’ll see that there have been considerably more positive experiences than negative.

There was one dude I played on ranked yesterday named “magic user” or that sort of thing.
It was 1st round when it came to the point of me crossing him up, about to go for the rest of his (akuma, btw) life when the game suddenly froze and I thought “Yeah, of course, connection to the player has been lost”, but it wasn’t until 5 seconds later when the game unfroze and he began beasting on me while the game was totally ignoring my inputs. I thought that might be random until it happened in similar circumstances next round.
So instead of bothering him on PM trying to prove anything, I’d better warn you what you might expect from online play on PC.
Good luck next time!

on a shared 30mbps connection. I still lag a bit online =/. Dunno if it’s the fact I’m dual screening, though I only have MIRC on the second screen when I play~

kinda sucks that nobody knows that GFWL takes your regional settings from your own Windows to set your country. And I believe it’s set as US by default. Hence why 99% of the people supposedly live in the states. I changed my region to canada and looked for games but none were found…

Or maybe my roomates are just constantly downloading porn.

there is essentially no good comp on the pc version aside from a few rare exceptions. this is disappointing seeing as the netcode is better imo. i would rather play people who know what they’re doing though so i’m back on XBL. if you’re even an intermediate level player i’d stay away from this medium like the plague.

My gtag is Ishki O Sora Ni…and if another one of you fucks (not geared towards anyone), kick me WHILE I JUST WAITED 15 MINUTES FOR A MATCH…I’m filing a complaint trollface…also…please explain this…

I have played Japanese Players in Ranked…and the connection is bettter than the people who live 5 states from me…explain THAT SHIT

no don’t explain it because it is gdlk…I’m still adding Japanese players to my friendlist

competition is awful. i’ve been playing everyday basically since the pc release and have only fought a handful of skilled players: bagelobo, jadednoobgamer, and some others that i can’t even remember because of how rare they are

GFWL has to be the biggest piece of shit UI ever made. It fucking crashes the game if you open it too fast, even when signing into GFWL if you press enter too many times it crashes the fucking game. I wish this thing died already but stupid companies keep supporting games on it.

I get the same which is actually very frustrating, how can I be getting lag when my connection and my opponents connection are supposed to be full green? Sometimes the lag is like pausing the game.

When I get a good match-up (without lag) I have a lot of fun for the most part. Yeah you get the people who spam certain moves over and again, but then that’s no different than when I would play a bunch of my buddies back in the days of Street Fighter II Turbo on the SNES, so it doesn’t really bother me, and if they want to keep playing that way, I’ll punish them for it. If they disconnect, meh, whatever, it’s not like I care about the points, just the game.

And why exactly to you spam “Enter” ? Apart from taking a while (up to 20 seconds) to sign in, it´s not handicapping me.
But i agree with you that GFWL is an obsolete platform. Which did bother me the most was that there is no ingame option to mute your microphone, but that you have to do it via GFWL.

My online experience so far has been pretty good. Had some lags but not much more than i had on PSN.
