PC: SSF4 AE - How is it online?

Strangely enough he had more lag with floe than with you, though that was possibly fps-related (not sure what kind of machine floe used).

i dont browse the web with windows machines(besides netflix). Windows is as insecure as it gets, even with all the bells and whistles that people naively believe in.

I am now playing in 1280x720 and sitting as close to my monitor as possible so that I can actually see the game.

I just played matches against people in Sweden, Canada, U.S.A., Brazil, and France. Amazingly they all felt exactly the same. Maybe this is the best version after all. Capcom just needed to make every match completely unplayable so that you can’t notice the difference between connections.

Except there definitely is, because lots of people are playing the game problem-free.
There is something wrong with the game itself.
On your end.

The problem is NOT on my end, the problem is more than likely in the coding, something you probably dont have any understanding of. You cant simply assume shit, you need evidence for a claim. Aside from the people running into problems, I see almost EVERYONE getting an A ranking, and I see the problems when I play them, even when i turn absolutely EVERYTHING down (in this case, the game does not have any issues what so ever offline and I get at least 200 fps), this indicates that the person im playing against is having framerate issues, and I have NEVER played anyone below A rank. If you get an A rank, thats what they coded it for, and guess what, you even have people in this thread saying A rank isnt enough. Too bad Capcom didnt realize that, and maybe this would actually be a more viable version of the game.

I dont suspect its merely the benchmark rating that doesnt match what its supposed to, but I suspect the algorithms that Capcom used are inefficient. Given Capcoms love of making as much money off of the least amount of work possible, this is not far fetched. Its also viable considering if you get 60fps(minimum) in the benchmark, that the game should be efficient enough to stay there, considering the machine can clearly accomplish that. Assuming theres no outside source causing problems, the issue on the coder, not the user. Anyone who thinks otherwise, please, stay away from the I.T field.

I mean shit, the game even has a framerate issue when “Fight” comes up, and Crysis, almost maxed out, maintains a consistent framerate.

Just because its a compiled program does not mean its infallible. Its coded by people, people screw up, and thats what Capcom did.

You seriously need to quit saying that. I’ve installed the game on two different computers, one amd and one intel. It does the same thing on both computers even in training mode. Have you played the console version regularly? Im willing to bet no, or else you would easily notice what "lots of people’ are talking about when they say there is something wrong.

Im willing to bet those people who you say are playing the game “problem free” dont know any better and this is their only version of the game. Its not the damn machine man, its the F’ing game. The problem is there its not just on our end.

turn ur fucking vsync off and set frames to fixed
if u play on a fucking atari its ur problem, most of the ppl get 190fps and not 60
its ur fault that it lag.

i played 592 matches, 5 from them were laggy because i played vs japanese guys
no frame rate issues, nothing

i can do all 1 frame links online and every other combo

Right well, i get 103 fps on all max except AA on a LAPTOP at 1920x1080. I have my fps set to fixed and d3doverrider on. Everything runs smooth as butter…almost.
Many times, maybe its just me, but randomly during training mode the game will seem a bit choppy, like its skipping frames of animation or something.

Just out of curiosity, those of you migrating from PC sf4. Who uninstalled the game already? lol

I got the game yesterday. My keyboard (M$ Sidewinder X4) and my gamepad didn’t work in the first place but I’ve managed to enter the game and reconfigure buttons with a M$ 360 pad.
Now everything works. Bench runs with ~200 fps @ 1080p and AA/AF @ max. It’s smooth, no lag in menus, no framerate issues, more than enough people with good connection to play against, all of the few online matches I’ve played felt perfect. Just like schisch, no problems to hit combos online.
I’m playing with vsync on (ingame setting, not forced by driver) and framerate fixed.

And yes, Capcom should have taken the minimum fps as a base for the grade. Then this “A” grade would actually mean something.

After playing some days im pretty sure vsync on creates some kind off a input delay.

Ppl telling that game is perfect on pc either dunno about input delay or havent touched the console version. the pc version isnt much different than the x360 version.

@raxzar: Because you’re pretty sure you recognized this on your PC setup, all other people ain’t capable of recognizing, if there is an input delay (or what an input delay is)? Sure…
Megalomaniac?
Ain’t it enough to share your experience and say that you’re pretty sure you recognized an input delay with vsync enabled? Without speculating about all the other people? Would be more constructive, I guess. Some info about how you forced vsync (ingame, driver, 3rd party program) would have been better.
Just my 2 cents.

Lag when game is using vsync is inherent to the way vsync works:

Did you even try and read my post?
"There is something wrong with the game, on your end"
Implying, no, this isn’t just your Computer being shit, that’s quite obvious, but it’s something that is not so Widespread as you make it out to be when you spout “EVERYONE IS DELUSIONAAALLLL I AM THE ONLY SMART PERSON HERE” when they say it’s the best version.
Which it is.

I own both SFIV and SSFIV on the 360, I played SSFIV regularly up till about 2 months before AE’s PC release.
EDIT: Also I play it at the Arcade now
Please calm yourselves, there’s no reason to get offensive and just spout “NO YOU’RE JUST STOOPID AND KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT”

Fact of the matter is, Fraps gives me an average ~120FPS on the Benchmark, which is exactly what the Benchmark reports.
Fraps gives me an average of ~120 FPS in Training mode, Arcade mode, and Trial mode.
This is the best version of AE, and your particular machines having issues with the game does not prove otherwise.

No the reason to get offensive is the response that it jst our particular machines. And when I asked if you played it regularly, I dont mean online where there is lag. I meant if you send alot of time in training mode, you will notice the difference. To keep saying some dumb shit like “This is the best version of AE” leads me to believe you are just contradicting what we are saying for some undoubltedly dumb fanboy reason?

I dont give a shit which version, ps3, xbox, or pc is better so you can save all that fanboy shit. The truth of the matter is there IS a problem and its in THIS version of the game. Its there when playing, its there when offline, its there even when watching a replay.

And your benchmark fraps or whatever else dont say shit about the damn stutter that happens. So whatever, I dont really care what yours or anybodys agenda is. I just decided to post to say hey Im having the same experience as the other guys and to say to whoever keeps saying “Everything is GREAT! it must be only you!” are full of it. So with that Im out, I’ve stated my experience theres nothing more to say about it.

Its great online for me, as long as they are not red bars. Orange and yellow even work. Its all about the bars, PC is awesome, even the pros say its best for least lag.

It’s your pc, or everyone should have that problem, period. If there are people playing with no problems, it’s obviously something on your configuration.

I am assuming that this mentality is shared by the majority who are claiming how great the PC version is.

The bars are completely irrelevant other than the fact that anything other the green is a complete waste of time.

You know how people say “This this tv has no lag because I dont feel any”. This is what I think is happening. At least with the people who are being honest and not on some PC fanboy shit. If its my pc, then why didnt it do it with SFIV? Why does it do it on two different pc’s? Its not like its playing underwater. It randomly starts to lag like Street Fighter 2 used to. It aint the pc , its the game.

Ok, so what you are saying is - the bars are irrelevant other than the fact that the bars are extremely relevant. I’ll take the pro’s word over anyone else in here.

They say PC is best, their opinion means most.

This is what the bars mean:

Red = Unplayable
Orange = Unplayable
Yellow = Unplayable
Green = Might be playable (except if you are playing the PC version)

Are pros claiming that orange bar matches are playable?
