What you should get all depends on what you want to use the machine for, and if you are interested in playing demanding games at good settings and 60 fps. If you want that frame rate, you should not go lower than an R9 390 or GTX 970. Note that SF5 isn’t one of those demanding games. Also, be careful about prebuilt computers. It can be a good way to go if you have no interest in building from parts yourself (which isn’t difficult btw), but I would compare the price to what the same computer would cost in parts so that you don’t get ripped off. There are also shops where you can pick out the parts and have them build it for an extra fee, that’s another way to go.
AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
3.4 GHz
24gb of ram
Can i run this game optimally? Or just in minimum settings? Sorry im a idiot, not really computer savy. Let me know thanks
We need to know what card in the 200 series you have. It goes from the super shitty 230 (I think that’s the slowest) to the quite powerful 290x. It’s the R9 series so the slowest isn’t the 230 becuase that’s R5 or something. Worst case scenario is that you have an R9 270 or something.
Go here: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html , download CPU-Z, run it, and click on the graphics tab. Report back.
ya unfortuantely everything i check just says 200 series it just shows up as… when i look at can I run it it says I have a 280 but i mean i cant say for sure cuz every other thing I try to check it as just says 200 series so im not really sure …
I assumed that the specific card would show up in CPU-Z, my bad. You could also go digging around in the AMD control center software. If it’s a 280 you should be totally fine for at least high settings. It’s probably about time you update the drivers anyway if you have never done that so go here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download There’s a utility you can download that automatically detects drivers for you, etc.
ya weird I dont get it either, ive tried multiple things and it just says 200 series, but when i tried canirunit or whatever it says I have 280 but like I said who can say I guess lol. I have a dell xps though and looking at the forums there people there dont even know what really comes wtih it, some say its a 270 shrug … so ya its kinda… iffy which makes me hesitant if I can even play this or not
As a final solution, if the new drivers also just says R9 200, is to go to Steam and search the store for 3DMark Fire Strike. Then run the benchmark, which will give you a score. That score will give us a very good idea on what kind of hardware you have.
"XPS 8700
The Dell XPS 8700 is Dell’s second most recent product in the XPS line. It is designed for moderate to heavy gaming and high-end workstation performance. It features a Dell 0KWVT8 motherboard with a LGA-1150 socket. It comes with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and an Nvidia Geforce GTX 660. A special edition is available with an AMD Radeon R9 270."
well i just looked this up, so maybe im gonna assume I have the 270 then? If so is that bad?
We shouldn’t assume anything in my opinion. We’ll get to the bottom of this, assuming you want to. Have you installed the new drivers? New drivers, then run Fire Strike. That should answer all our questions.
Just open the god damn case and physically look at the card. Jesus.
just run gpu-z then compare the amount of ROPs/TMUs/shaders/filrate to the r9 200 series specsheets
i7 4790K
16GB DDR3
ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 Mobo
GTX 980 (regular)
The beta on Steam was a dice roll depending on when I played. FPS would go from fine to a crawl randomly.
wow really? i have lower specs then u and it ran fine maxed. What res u playing at?
something is definitely wrong then
this should run the game max at 100+fps constant no problem (yes I know the game locks at 60)
Reinstall drivers?
turn off GeForce Experience
Yea with a 980 you should be fine.
But the game locks at 60fps.
Alright alright.
CPU: AMD FX-8350 3.9Ghz (OC’d to 4.2)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 980Ti 6Gb
RAM: 16Gbs
PSU: Antec 900 Watt
Overall performance: Runs like melted butter on a baby’s ass.
…So yeah, I’m good to go.
must be noice
so nice
It’d be **nicer **if I can find a goddamn cheaper G-sync monitor someplace.
But I suppose just getting a good 144hz one should suffice for time being.
do you still really need gsync
even with a 980ti?
I have a 970 and get no stutter or tear on recent games
Tearing isn’t fixed by having a better GPU. Tearing will always happen if your monitor and game updates at different rates when you aren’t using vsync/gsync/freesync. Tearing is less **noticeable ** when you run a higher refresh rate like 144hz because each individual torn frame is on the screen for a shorter amount of time. Playing SFV on a 144/120hz monitor is definitely an improvement over a 60hz screen in that respect even if you don’t go g-sync. But still, once you go g-sync you can’t go back. lol
