PC Gamers Unite patch 2.0

yeah its too blocky. Some eyebrows look funky too, there’s one eyebrow that looks really good because you could see individual hairs up close but it looks stupid on the character. lol. Eyelashes look bad too.

k, I tried these settings now and looks best so far. Reverted everything to original then used these only:

DepthBias=0.030000
MaxShadowResolution=2048
(There are two entries of these. The 2nd entry of these almost at the bottom of the ini file is the one I changed, the first one doesnt seem to make a difference)

The shadows up close are now disabled during conversations but the shadows work during 3rd person views:

You guys tried quake live yet? I finally got to play it yesterday, it’s pretty good and seems like a “lot” of people are playing it. The maps look different, layouts are the same though. I haven’t played around with the site much so I’ll look to see if I have any invites in case someone wants one.

Looks pretty goddamn sweet. I wonder if anything can run it well though. lol.

Anyone have an idea why is NOLF2 stuttering in the early scenes where there is water (dips to 15-20 FPS) on my end? (8800GT and e8400). It’s really annoying. It rivals Crysis in slowing my computer down and it came out in 2002!! HELP! There must be some settings I could tweak somewhere.

EDIT: nm, buggy programming. shadows on medium and everything else could be high. apparently the trees are casting too much shadows. lol

hmmm, I tried to run Half-Life 2 on vista but it crashes to desktop. I tried running as admin and still the same. I added “-heapsize 2048000” to the command line (half my RAM) to get rid of the “less than 128MB memory available” message but it just crashes straight to desktop.

CS:Source runs without a problem though.

EDIT:
FIXED. There’s a patch (non-official) that fixes sound problems that also fixed it.

WTF does Bioshock crash everytime I save/auto-save? I can’t even get inside Rapture.

Also, if I do fix this…Is there a way to skip all the product intro logos in the beginning?

EDIT:
FIXED! ugh…Tech support says to disable tablet PC service + make sure the save file is not set to “read only”. Didn’t work, until I checked the folder that contains the save file’s properties and it was set to read-only and overriding the file setting in Vista for some reason. Now it works fine.

Trying unnofficial Bioshock tweaker now to disable intro logos.

Basically, Left 4 Dead will rape. If you haven’t been following it, you should. Easily looks like my second place contender for GOTY.

Picking up Silent Hill Homecoming in a few weeks too. Don’t know how I feel about the American devs changing shit like the camera, but I’m still interested.

Yah, I watched some demo play and shit from PAX. It looks hardcore, definitely will pick up on release.

Restarted Wizardry 8 for fun.

Also still on Eschalon Book 1 with the occassional Avernum 5.

Been awhile since I seen this thread.

Can’t wait for GTA IV.

Can’t afford a next gen, so my computer will have to do. But that’s good enough for me.

When is GTAIV for PC?

November 21st:

Damn, I thought it was next month for some reason.

I guess the extras [as mentioned in the article] will be something to look forward to.

And ‘Wow’ at the max resolution on that thing.

I’m waiting for L4D and COD5 lol.

SRK L4D room!

Oh, and Deadspace too.

Looking forward to Far Cry 2. The map editor = :lovin:

So i just recently upgraded my comp to a 2.7 ghz 4 gb ram radeon 4850.

I havnt really been PC gaming for quite some time so what have i missed?

Im playing FEAR and GRID at the moment.

i already have Half-life 2… wondering which pack i should buy. I will most likely get TF2 somehow though.

other games im considering playing are Crysis, Bioshock, Gears of War, Mass Effect.

I played Supreme Commander but I dont have the patience and drive to learn and micro a RTS. is that Sins of a Solar empire or wateva game more simple?

wondering if i should go back and play Ice wind Dale II…
dont know if i wanna play Oblivion. kinda played Elder Scrolls a whole lot.

I dont have a 360 or PS3. have a Wii though. playing No more Heroes.

Supreme Commander gets macro later in the game, except that when you’re playing online against other players it’ll never be later into the game, everyone rushes.

Sins of the Solar Empire is simple, but it’s a lot of micro. Also it’s very slow pace. There is no protection on the game so if you know someone who has it, just borrow it and install it. Doesn’t require a disc to play, there’s no real single player story mode thing, it’s all based around multiplayer. It can be very indepth or very stupid.

Boulders gate.

Forgenjuro, my personal thoughts:

Crysis - fun, for the first half hour.
Bioshock - overrated bullshit that gets stale like most other FPS games.
Gears - like Crysis, fun for only so long.
Mass Effect - short game, easy too.

I hated Sup. Commander but enjoyed the fuck out of Sins/World in Conflict/Company of Heroes.

Man knows what’s up. Even if they don’t have spelling in Outworld. I’ve got a whole host of classic games I’m about to start playing at work once we get the data center locked to all outsiders. It’s going to be an arcade in there.
