^ If you’d rather Ati over nVidia GPU, I find it really hard to go wrong with the 5850. It’s lovely.
How does the i7 920 compare to some of the better AMD chips?
Yeah. The selling point on the 5850 is its low power consumption, and DX11.
I have a GTX260 myself, but I’m not biased.
Just build a i7-Extreme rig with SLI GeForce 295 GTXs and you will be set for like at least 6 months. 
I personally wouldn’t buy AMD anymore simply because Intel has overtaken them too far. From what I have read in reviews on the current AMD Phenom chips, the performance is too uneven across the board compared to what Intel has to offer. IMO I think we will start to see Nvidia trying to push Intel out in the next few years, while AMD will slowly fade away. It sure looks like Nvidia is gearing up to make an entry into the general CPU realm in some way or another.

AMD processors are just simply outclassed right now by Intel’s 1366 and 1156 offerings. The new architecture is just superior. I’m not to quick to recommend the 5770 to people because I think its too weak (immature drivers) and ATI isn’t exactly that great with their drivers. I would suggest waiting for the 5830 if you want a value/performance card that is around ~$200, but 5770 isn’t too bad right now, its just dissappointing to see it lose to even the 4870 (which sells for like 100-130 bucks right now) in benchmarks. 5770 gives you a crossfire upgrade path however, 2x5770 almost equals a 5870 while the older gen cards are getting harder and harder to buy. You could also spend a bit more and go for a 5850 or a 5870 depending on your budget.

Not as fast as Intel’s but if you are just gaming anyway, these things are plenty fast. Motherboards cost like 100 bucks too and so you can actually buy a 5870 with the amount of money you save.

For P55/1156?
The Maximus Gene is decent for its price, microATX though (still just as good as the full ATX ROG board, just less PCI ports, its not like they are used anyway), 50 bucks less than the Maximus Formula. IMO it’s not really worth it unless you are going to overclock it hardcore, even then I’d still lean on an equally priced EVGA. For around 150-180 you can find really good overclockers that offer 8x/8x crossfire as well (Gigabyte P55A-UD4P, Asus P7P55D PRO, MSI GD65, etc). If you aren’t overclocking and you aren’t planning any crossfire/sli, any 130-150 from Asus or Gigabyte would do and just use the money on a better video card.
Can someone recommend me a good PC game for this PC I just put together? I don’t really know much about PCs, I just put this thing together with the help of a friend’s shop. But this is what I have already:
Unreal Tournament 3 - looks great, fun, but I play it a lot and need something new.
Crysis Maximum edition - Looks good, not all that fun though.
Dirt 2 - I like the game, it came with my video card, but I already finished it on my Xbox 360.

If you can run Crysis you can pretty much run everything. lol With your specs you should be able to run everything at 1920x1024 with MAX everything (except for Crysis maybe)

Yeah I suggested getting crossfire going with my card but my friend just told me that was a waste of money and overkill. I can run Crysis maxed without problems save the antialiasing is only at 2x or something. But yeah. I’m interested in Games like Empire Total War, and Fallout looks good too. Thanks for the suggestions! I’m looking forward to putting this PC to good use. It’ll be nice to give my 360 a break. It sounds like a dying animal when I turn it on. LOL
