PC Gamers Unite patch 2.0

So…just finishing up my final run of ME2. Awesome game, but looking towards the future what’s coming out on PC? Is the platform totally dead until SC2 comes out?

No way the platform is dead, check Steam for upcoming game releases. Alan Wake for PC is going to be sick.

Not dead at all.

Calendar looks good for PC games.

Gimme my Supreme Commander 2.

Bioshock 2 and Call of Pripyat should be out soon.

There aren’t any other PC games I’m looking forward to except Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. That’s just as well, because there are some other PC games I need to playthrough.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Call of Pripyat has been out stateside since the 3rd i believe.

and i really recommend it for everyone…

whoops

no p45/35
i have a q6600/hd 4870/4gb ddr2 800
not really looking to go full fledge new pc
i did get a chance to look at the maximum II gene tho

looks pretty good

Your system still looks pretty good. The only real upgrade path is to go X48 motherboard so you can crossfire another 4870 there but I don’t think its really worth it since you should still be able to run games fine with your setup. Asus Maximus II Formula X48 still retails for $250-$350! I think that money is better spent on a new video card ($250 + sell the 4870 = 5850). Do you have q6600 overclocked? If you can get it to 3.0 at least you should be perfectly fine with everything, the steepest system requirements just needs dual core 3.0Ghz. But even if you don’t overclock its still fine.

SupCom2 does look pretty cool. I really liked Demigod so hopefully this’ll be up there too.

Soon it is upon me to upgrade my GPU…I got:

i5-750 (stock)
GA P55-UD3
4 gb 1333mhz G.Skill
8800 GTS 320

The question is, do I want to upgrade to a current high-end card, buy a slightly older one (gtx 260/4890), or wait for the gtx275/58XX to come down in prize a bit…hummm.
I think I may just spend the money on new game releases instead…blazblue (euro), bfbc2, ssf4…

I am a master of indecision.

yeah it ran the dx11 test pretty well. the new mobo is because my dfi lanparty has been acting really weird initially giving my hdd i/o errors and now its adding mem errors to the bundle too. even though s.m.a.r.t. and memtest86 show nothing.
so i just wanna swap out a new mobo before anything.

My old PC still plays current PC games just fine. I imagine I won’t have any problems running Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 when they’re out. Mass Effect 2 runs great with all settings maxed out.

What specs you got King?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 GHz
8800 GT
4GB DDR2 RAM 800 MHz

It’s a PC I got back in 2007. I did change the motherboard a year later because my old one wouldn’t work with the 8800 without flashing the BIOS in the card, and that proved to be more trouble than it was worth. I kept the CPU, and upgraded the memory later on.

Yeah 8800GT is a beast. I just sold mine today to a guy who’s going to SLI them. Another thing about Nvidia cards is that they don’t depreciate that much when you sell them compared to ATI cards :stuck_out_tongue:

…Setting up my new system now, running memtest before I install windows. Gonna be playing Mass Effect 2 tonight finally, although my brother called just to say how there’s a problem with mouse sensitivity in that game and there’s no patch for it yet.

I have no problems with mouse sensitivity in ME2, it might be the same problem Dead Space had where the mouse was sluggish when you had Vsync turned on.

yeah I have no problems so far either, I don’t know wtf my brother is talking about.

Man I can’t even fully load this new PC (i7 950). Mass Effect and Far Cry2 aren’t even sweating. lol only my HD is bottlenecking it. I think its time to try SSDs, but then that will screw up my budget for Fermis when they come out.

I hate the temps though, I double checked the mounts and its fine but OCCT max load is at 90C!!! and idles at 60 with stock cooling and clocks. ugh. I fuckin need an after market heatsink, now the problem is finding one that will work with my motherboard and will clear the tall patriot ram heatsinks.

I’m about to drop a a grand on a new rig what do you guys think?

  • Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz

  • OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

-ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0

-SAPPHIRE 100281SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI

I’m cool on any suggestions except for the vid card, the low power consumption is too nice I can’t pass it up (our electric bill is fucking nuts).

Looks good, all those total are around $1000. I’m assuming you have HD + psu already?

That new asus mobo is pretty damn kick ass.

seriously when are ssds going to deprecate in value
