Patch Q: Would you prefer a slight speed increase?

This is a great idea, please do it. I’d even vote more than 3% if you wanted to do that. Speed is good.

Thanks for more specific info regarding this to give fence-sitters a better picture on whats happening

Because I think every character should have unique balanced options?

Avoiding making characters who are better versions of other fighters is what every designer should do in my opinion.

I like the sound of a small speed boost that’ll have things closer to a GG-esque speed. GG always felt like it hit the speed sweet spot to me, so moving closer to that would be great. Generally, I’m happy with the speed SG is at, but I wouldn’t mind the small increase.

Though ignore my vote in the actual poll. I clicked the wrong damn option without paying attention. Not that I think it’ll matter at this point. Anyway, keep up the good work, Mike. Glad to see you’re still reaching out to the community about stuff.

Ahh, so this speed increase is strictly using frame skips? So a frame will still be 1/60th of a second, or however long they are, but it will just skip a bit more frequently? That would make that one frame vulnerability of assists have a more “vulnerable” feel, assuming THAT can never get skipped (that can never get skipped, right? XD) I can dig that. I’ll vote yes. It sounds like it’ll make the game just a bit more fun without making things hectic.

You don’t understand what I’m talking about at all, sorry.

A couple people have requested a comparison video… and I’ll second that. Hard data, even in the form of a video, gives us more info to make decisions on. Right now, some of us think this is gonna make the game incredibly fast and unplayable while others thing it will make the game more fun, and that’s because we are all just going by a theoretical definition of fast in our head.

You want an imbalanced game, I understand that much.

After Mike Z’s clarification post, I would go with a yes.

My concerns were wholly with the potential of frame data changing to the point where some things stop working.

I already voted no because I fear change, but I support a comparison video, too.

At first glance I thought this was a troll post about buffing Q in 3SOE lol! I’m kinda indifferent about speed boost, don’t think it would make much of a significant difference…

I think that, whatever happens, there should definitely not be a Normal-Turbo mode option. Keep it to one standard. We don’t need the Skullgirls being community being split when it’s just getting started.

A side by side comparison video would be great. That way we can see how much it changes and see if we like the look of it. I can’t see myself being sure on this until I actually play it at a 3% increase.

But I’m all for a bit of speeding up. Rushdown will become 3% more scary.

Further clarification: (will also put in first post)
Changing the frameskip number in SG doesn’t change the actual gameplay at all. Frame data remains the same. This is purely an aesthetic question.
All the gameplay still happens the same way it does now - assists are still vulnerable for two frames of game time, moves are still active for the same amount of time, just that some of the frames happen without being shown to the player…but SG already does that even now. (^.^) The reason I’m even CONSIDERING this is because it ISN’T a change to gameplay except for the feel. Even increasing the game speed to 150% wouldn’t change how anything works, it would just mean you have to do your inputs a whole lot faster.

Then hell yes, make it faster! =)

I say do it.
You forgot to put it on your Twitter!

I am all for this. I don’t have a problem with the current pacing and I certainly don’t have one with it being faster. Do it pl0x.

After much consideration I’ve changed my mind, I’m for this since the game is changing so much already, I have to adapt again anyway.

They announced about this on twitter

Btw would this be in the frontpage? Interesting to see some feedback on this from the frontpage lurkers. Eventhubs will probably hit this up as well.

I swear its like some of you don’t read a single thing. Mike shouldn’t have had to come in here and say the same thing that was clarified on the 1st page…
