Well reacting to things in Tekken may be a bit harder also because the inputs are frame specific. There are no multiple inputs for button presses like negative edging in SF. You can do stuff like hold down 2 and press 1 in order to get a 1+2 move but there’s no extra input for either command. So you can’t do stuff like piano or plink in tight frame juggles. You just have to have the right frame timing and if you don’t get it…you don’t get it.
Yeah Tekken 6 has me convinced that not a lot of people learned even the bare basics of Tekken. It’s like amazing to find a regular person online who knows how to set up and finish a juggle or do anything other than hold back on the stick to deal with offense. You know you’re fighting a scrub when they pull a SFIV and just hold on back or down back to keep from getting hit.
blazblue netcode remains king I would say, unless you don’t see that as a commercial fighter. played that a bit awhile ago with a bud across town, near flawless. still boggles the mind how good it is.
I’d have to agree with Glory here. I was playing ranked for after the patch was released, and I was using Bob’s uf3 more than I should have, because it kept connecting against a ton of new guys.
Then yesterday, I played somebody I consider my mentor in a private session, and he completely destroyed me.
In 3 hours of playing him, I couldn’t throw Bob’s uf3 once without being punished for it. I stopped using it again on ranked after I played him.
My point is: In my experience, T6’s netcode at 4-5 bars isn’t consistent enough to punish moves that need a space of 1-2 frames (e.g. punishing a -11 move with a 10f move), but as far as throwing out seeable stuff… nah.
Every snake edge, Lili db4, Law db4, etc. I saw online got suitably blocked and punished by me at 4-5 bars.
However… my 4-5 bar connections are practically flawless against locals. I really am getting only between 1-5 frames of delay at the worst times. High population density (short distance) + same ISP makes a big difference.
honestly, I haven’t touched T6 online that much since Thursday night. But I can say i’ve ran into more east coasters in general. (surprisingly more in MD with a few outside east coast state.) But yea…Fought a guy up in Connecticut who joined my room with good 5 bar connection. Most so far though i’ve come across joining the room and actually staying have been SRK peeps anyway. Others are just new guys/noobs with bad connection whom I kick when I don’t see a Green/Teal connection.
but i’m overall satisfied. It’s basically coming down to people who actually play the game seriously/know their shit in game that have good connection while the others usually tend to be the FPS kids who get away with sub par connections in FPS games…not realizing that stuff won’t work up in Fighters.
most glaring indications: game moves at full speed whenever they’ve got you in a juggle/bound, and craps out after a couple hits of your own juggles, so that you miss, or if they have Kazuya, once they notice you can block all the hits of the Hell Sweep, they lag you so you can only block the jumping spin, and keep using that move. If you are just superior overall, they lag you about halfway through their life bar for the rest of the match.
it’s not a lag switch…just the connection can waver a lot during a match…even with people you know, on good connections, that are close. it just happens. it probably isnt anyone using a “lag switch” or whatever, it’s just the way the netcode works, take it or leave it.
this. smart players will be able to level up, because they will be playing to improve rather than trying to win by any means necessary. if anything to beat scrubs just hang back and punish whiffs…
man for some reason i can play in a 4 bar match an then halfway through it says synching and i lose connection and this has happened to me on multiple occasions =(
yeah same here… online is pretty fucking retarded at times… it is what it is i guess and on ps3 were not paying for online so i aint gonna bitch. Im just glad i have so many people around who play t6 who i chill with.
