Yep, that’s it. however if you keep the standard actuator the distance it takes to activate the switch would be longer, but since it is your first stick you may or may not notice. Hence why an oversized actuator is recommended since it will make that given distance closer to the stock feel or even more sensitive.
Ok. I didn’t think it would. Do you prefer the Zippy switches over the stock JLF switches? Would you say that 1.5mm with Zippys is comparable to .5 with stock?
Zippy’s are nice for silence but since I’m so used to feeling more heavy switches it took some time to get used to, but its definitely not bad. I wouldn’t take it to the switches, but rather to the actuator and strength of the spring. For me i care more for the tightness and sensitivity of the stick, leaning towards a slightly heavier stick in comparison to an LS-56, with similar engage. As for comparison I can’t say for sure but it seems like the 1.5mm actuates a bit earlier, but since I don’t have my .5 oversize I can’t say for sure.
@wakeupsalami the wire is included in the kit and the mod definitely needs a larger actuator. I would couple it with a slightly higher spring rate also for a smooth feel
Thanks for the feedback Pnoy, and you are 100% right, 1.5 is WAY to big for stock JLF Omrons.
We have some pretty fun stuff coming up, for those of you who thought the Kaimana was enough…
We do run things on Facebook, and I know “everyone” is on Facebook, but to us the heart of the FGC is here so we will continue to make big announcements here first
Susan is going to be announcing a crazy special on a modded JLF. Long store short we thought we’d have some fun What’s even crazier is that this is Susan’s idea, all I did was said, that sounds great!
We will be running a kickstarter shortly. I have quoting and prototypes of the universal adapter plate coming in this week hopefully! The basic gate plate will mount to the JLF, LS-32, LS-40, LS-56, Paradise LED Stick, IL eurosticks, JLW’s and a few more. It will allow you to mount any of these designs into the flat plate design of any of the other joysticks. Put simply, want to mount an IL Eurostick on a JLF mount… done! or want to mount an LS-56 in an upright Dynamo cabinet, done. The basic goal will be between 1000 and 1500. We will have a stretch goal that will provide a slimmed down version that eliminates the Eurostick and JLW mounting holes and a second stretch goal… we’ll leave that one under wraps.
3)We will be launching a new “idea” this week. I have been discussing this with a small number of people for quite some time. It is all set up on the site, and just needs to be turned on, hopefully with a few more people we contacted this weekend.
The idea is simple We are setting up a streamlined way for you to send purchases directly to modders for installation. Starting Wednesday there will be a new category in the shop. This category will contain the name of several modders from the community located around the country.
The way this will work is that you will contact the modder in regards to a project, confirm they are willing to take it on, arrange cost and payment, settle on what you need, and then order from the store. When you order, you will put that modder into your basket (zero cost item). Once the order is placed we will contact the modder, confirm the job, and then ship your parts directly to them. The installation service, payment, timing etc are between you and the modder. We provide parts, the modders provide service.
We are hoping that this will make things easier, but we also get a number of people in our store not plugged into the FGC and we are hoping this will help them with both building and getting involved!
Finally… We have a contest! You can review products in our store. Products you purchased, to make it fair. Right now you can earn a small credit for reviews and multiple reviews can be posted to earn multiple credits. We are going to step this up a notch. I have a Foe Hammer case, shown in one of the videos, that I have modded with the Kaimana and a bunch of other goodies We are going to hold a random drawing, 1 review = 1 entry. For the orders that showed up on Paypal, but not in the store, let us know we can make sure you can submit reviews. The contest will run all month, and the winner announced on Black Friday. More information will be posted, but if you have already submitted a review, it will count.
What else is in store for the month? It’s coming up on Christmas, my major yearly exam is Saturday November 9th, and I’m dying to bring some new products I have had sitting in CAD space to life. So keep an eye on the thread because we are going to have some fun.
Haha we will come up with something. It may seem silly but the
Actually the humuhumunukUnukuapua’a bracket Yes that’s a real word.
Susan and I are not Hawaiian but in living here we have a lot of respect for the history and culture. While it may seem a little cliche in some places, people from here who find out we are naming our products with Hawaiian words and giving the definitions in the descriptions are really happy to hear the Hawaiian language is getting some “air time”.
Maybe I can make this one easy… Pau (pronounced pow) bracket, pau means done, as in:
“Are you all finished”
"Yeh we all pau"
Because after this bracket, you won’t need another… you are all Pau
For some reason Susan’s post requires approval… Now she submitted it about a half dozen times lol, so it might end up posted a few times. She wrote the mods to ask what’s up.
I have changed the and of this post. I did make a joke about a current debacle, and it was purely a joke. After being on call for a weekend I didn’t think it would offend anyone but evidently, one person was quite offended so I will remove it.
I remember a thread she started with the arcade stick Halloween pumpkins (lol) and iirc the mods did not seem to like that post and closed it. I think they even said for her to remove the signature picture. That might have something to do with it?
