Note this version fixes the kaimana.update() to kaimana.updateALL() issue.
Kudos to @ZonbiPanda for getting this code to where it is now!! Great Work!!!
Anyone please feel free to contribute, even if you donāt know how to code, pass the idea and we can try to code it for you.
just a question or two at the moment, found your site while searching for arcade stick parts and was quite impressed by your selection. me and a friend have both purchased our first arcade sticks (the hori fighting edge, and razer atroxā¦respectively) and I was mostly wondering how hard it would be to add a paradise LED joystick? as in is it purely plug & play, would it require some additional parts?
Short answer is no.
The LED joystick would require you to solder lines for the anode and cathode wires of the LED to the circuit board, with a resistor on either side. This would have the LED constantly lit with no animations. For special light up effects you would need an LED controller board such as the kaimana. If one was installed it would still require you to tinker with the wiring or solder a bit.
Other than that it is as simple as swapping the joystick. You remove the balltop first and then remove the screws mounting your joystick. Remove the balltop on the LED stick and insert it through the bottom panel and mount it with the screws. Lastly youād reattach your balltop with the LED inside.
@Kaptastr0phe
Pnoy Pryde gave a great summary except⦠single color leds we sell come with resistors in place already, so you donāt need to worry about that but you will need to tap into power somewhere.
If you decide to order add in a note to Susan with the order and she can ship the shaft with the LED and balltop already installed.
ah ok, thatās not a huge worry, we both know our way around a soldering iron appreciate the timely response from you both!
Iām wondering about the aqua ps-14-gs I tried to purchase multiples and Iām only allowed to add one. It says the single button is all the stock?
Those buttons are fire.

I will have Susan check and make sure the stock counts are correct, what color?
Btwā¦I changed the Little Kahunas to Big Kahunas on the PS-14-Gās and it didnāt make a huge difference if it made any difference at all. I need to do a side by side comparison of the two but I think the difference will be negligible. How well do Kahunas work on Sanwa buttons? Iām not home to test them.
Gās you shouldnāt notice a difference, KNās is where the biggest difference is. They work great in Sanwas, but I may be biased
I know that this is basic but it might help someone understand wiring the kaimana. I made the mistake of not fully wiring the joystick and function buttons and I could not get the animations working. I will try to add this to the wiki.
Wiring Logic Diagram:
This is the wire logic diagram for the kaimana with either .100 Pin Headers or Screw Terminals. The kaimana board is a pass through to the PCB. It is important to pass all your wires through even if you do not have LED on those buttons or joystick as this they trigger the animations. In the code base we have combos that look like this:
#define COMBO_PATTERN_1A ATTACK_RIGHT + ATTACK_P1, ATTACK_RIGHT, ATTACK_DOWN + ATTACK_RIGHT, ATTACK_DOWN
ATTACK_RIGHT and ATTACK_DOWN are joystick actions and the kaimana needs to know if the action actually happened so it will display the animation. So even if you donāt have an LED joystick (yet) the kaimana still needs to know if you had the correct pattern triggered so it can display the animations.

Very nice.
They are on the way!
I was hoping to use some old LEDās (ARCEYE2ās) i bought a while ago with the kaimana board, but iām not sure how to wire them in. I have an Kaimana Adapter, but iām not sure how they fit together. Is there any wiring diagrams (like the one @jwyder posted) that show the adapters in the chain?
You can use the Kaimana adapter with the Pele adapter harness, if someone can shoot me the pin out order for the Arc Eye 2ās I can post a diagram and video about how to change the adapter harness tonight.
If we can test a confiruation (I canāt do it because I donāt have Arc Eye 2ās) I can have a direct plug and play adapter harness made.
I am trying to collect questions and information on the Kaimana into a separate thread so people can use that as a reference⦠check it out here
That will be a big help!
I just got my first stick off craigslist with sanwa buttons and jlf stick. And now Iāve been looking into modding the sticks to make it silent along. (the buttons are straight forward). I think what I want is to get a bigger actuator along with a stronger spring and the zippy mod. What size actuator should I get though that will work with the zippy mod and will I have to open up and mod the zippy switches inorder for them to work properly?(I saw a video where someone put posted notes in them)
Zippys are a nice choice for the JLF, but they have deeper actuation (takes longer for the direction to register) compared to the standard JLF switches. Iād recommend a 0.5mm oversize actuator to keep similar actuation distance but it really depends on how sensitive you want your JLF. I personally use a 1.5mm since I prefer hypersensitivity alongside a 3lbf spring to compensate for the sensitivity.
You will not have to open your zippy switches as long as they are not the levered versions. Keep in mind that because zippys donāt come mounted on a PCB, you will either need a set of .187" female quick-disconnects or a 5 pin adapter set, all of which are found on Paradise Arcadeās site.
