will these mounting plates support the Myoungshin Fanta stick?
@pcornejo paypal has been not returning some orders to our store and we are working with them to correct this. Basically or store sends the order to paypal for processing and paypal never says it was processed, but they do process it. To deal with this we are checking paypal for the orders daily, in addition to our store. We expect a fix this week for this issue.
In regards to the emails, cancellations, etc, I do not know exactly what happened, that is a lot of activity in 5 days. If you ever get an email saying your order has been cancelled from Paypal it usually means the wrong shipping label was printed and another was printed. If this happens you should have an updated email with the new tracking. Please email me directly, armi0024@gmail.com, my personal email and Susan or I will address this tomorrow. If there is ever a confusing problem like this please call 651-332-3665. Mahalo!
@ashstampede This first version will not fit down over the middle ring but the holes will match. We are working on a way of dealing with this.
what would be the affects of boring a 35mm hole into the mounting plate? currently to fit the fanta into any standard case you have to make the hole on the stick top panel from 24mm to 35mm and drill four mounting holes for the stick with spacers for the right clearance height etc. your plate will negate the latter but i notice on the 3d rendering there are a lot of screw holes on this universal plate. will modding the plate with a 35mm hole have any divers affects to the plate?
A 35mm hole would elimnate jlf compatibility
Congratulations on winning Tech Talk Company of the Year and Tech Talk Accessory of the year (Kaimana LED Controller)! The recognition was well deserved. Keep doing what youâre doing. Youâre doing it right!
Hi,
Iâm happy with the holiday order parts but did notice a few things on the Zippyy joysticks I ordered.
- The microswitches on the Zippyy joysticks themselves were labeled âJinduâ or such. Theyâre not Zippyy-labeled and I know Iâve seen all-black microswitches with the Zippyy brand name on them. The casing on the microswitches included with the Zippyyâs is half-red with the supplier(?)/âJinduâ name on them.
- While the joystick build is very close to the LS-32, there are enough differences that are mildly irritating.
Hereâs what stood out to me â
a) the springs are NOT as much like the LS-32 as I believed at first. The coil metal seems to be thicker in addition to the natural aluminum/âshinyâ appearance. My impression is that the Zippyy spring may actually be looser tension than the LS-32 spring, too. I noticed that one of the Zippyyâs springs got stretched out after a tendency towards getting stuck on the spring retainer/holder; never had that happen with an LS-32 spring;
b) the spring retainer (not the actuator/cover piece held on by the C-clip). I never had springs get stuck on retainers or stretched out like that with any of the Seimitsu joysticks Iâve owned⌠I wonder if this issue is caused by the Zippyy spring design or has to do with the Zippyy spring retainer itself?
c) One Zippyy is working out very well in one joystick case, the other is acting up with symptoms of what I believe are a faulty microswitch or two. The switches in the 6 oâclock and 3 oâclock positions donât seem to register movements at times (tendency is to ignore some rolling motions or refuse to register downward motion) and it seems to be that the stick has to be worked âharderâ to register motion, period.
Iâve had joysticks (LS-32âs) get stuck because of spring mod issues but nothing like this before. I donât believe itâs an actuator issue, either. That part seems to be okay and was the only other thing I could think of that could be wrong with the Zippyy. To be honest, I could see no obvious part deformation and Iâve taken the Zippyy apart a few times to investigate what was going on.
Itâs very hard to distinguish performance-wise between a Zippyy short-shaft and LS-32 when all things are equal and no parts are acting up. âCloneâ is the best term for the Zippyy. If you have the spare parts and the harness adapters, Iâd still think that this is a decent alternative to the LS-32 (0.187-prong version, not the PCB models).
I know enough about the LS-32 parts that Iâm already making a list of potential spare swap-outs to rectify some Zippy issues⌠( => Good news â itâs STILL cheaper than buying a brand new LS-32! LOL <= ) Besides higher-tension springs (when PAS gets those â I can see myself buying at least 6-8 of two higher-tension tension builds for my LS-32âs and LS-40âs!), Iâm thinking Panasonic/Matsushita levered microswitches might be in the offing to upgrade the one faltering Zippyy â probably do the other one at the same time. I looked at the Omron model similar to the LS-32 Panasonic microswitches but it makes no sense to get them if theyâre the same spec and durability as the Panasonic brand. Youâre paying 33% more per part for a brand name! The Panasonic microswitches have functioned well in my Seimitsu joysticks. Never had issues with them⌠Iâve already found a US mainland supplier for the switches and the pricing seems decent for those parts.
Zippyy issues aside â and I see that as a positive, solveable challenge; the Zippyyâs are kind of like those old AMT/ERTL Star Trek model kits that are just begging for âaccuratizing partsâ â, the other joystick parts worked out fine with no issues. I have a beautiful two-color transparent balltop (red/violet) on a Batman: The Animated Series-themed Mad Catz TE joystick and several other recommissioned joysticks with brand new parts.
The new transparent JLF shaft covers are very nice pieces. I mentioned this before but they actually make metal shafts look anodized after theyâre slipped on. Nice to have something besides black to work with!
They do seem a bit harder to customize/mod, though. Iâd swear the plastic Sanwa uses for the new transparent JLF-CD shaft kits is tougher than the solid black plastic. It does seem to be harder to file that plastic to fit the Seimitsu-32/Zippyy shafts. Oh well, thereâs another reason that I donât own museum-size collection of joysticks!
@FrankCastleAZ Sheâll get back to you Thursday.
@iNendoi thank you! Weâll wait for D3V to do the thread announcements
Good news on that Zippyy joystick â
Fixed it!
Itâs just like 90-some percent of arcade part fixes.
Before you buy anything new, take it apart, switch around parts, and re-assemble!
In this case, I swapped the positions of the existing microswitches. Basically flipped them diagonally.
Iâll be darned but that worked!
I re-tested against Darkstalkers 2 and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD. Near-flawless operation. Doesnât get better than that when it works well against high-torture games.
BTW, congrats on the LED PCB board Tech Talk/Company of the Year WIN.
For the past two years, itâs been obvious that LEDâs have become the hot new joystick add-onâs/high-end bling. The problem has always been installation and user-friendliness. Looks like your PCB is on the way to resolving at least half those issues!
(Canât do much about people who donât seem to be able to follow directions, though. I still dig out directions every time I have to reconnect wires on joysticks or the Cthulu PCB. I like diagrams! I canât remember all those details!)
I kind of expect LEDâs to become more standard on next-gen mass-production joystick releases â so far only the TE2 and Fighting Edge have (unlimited edition) production LED but only the TE2 has the kind of USEFUL LED most people want â but there will still be plenty of people who want to retrofit old joystick cases and cabinets with LED.
The Kaimana isnât the only LED controller of its kind but it looks to be the best-supported one thus farâŚ
Donât know if Iâll ever get one of those LED PCBâs unless I mod an existing HRAP or TE joystick case for LED.
I kind of just want to finish off my existing joystick cases before I get into something else I have to learn a new language forâŚ!
P.S. â I will STILL buy those higher-tension replacement springs after PAS starts carrying them. I have at least a half-dozen joysticks that I want to tweak. Itâs an economical, easy-to-implement mod!
Ok, I am sitting on a plane with Internet so I am going for an epic @georgec post. Itâs hard to do pics on the ipad but bear with me.
@georgec GREAT that you fixed the stick. I know itâs sill but there is a difference between Zippyy and Zippy. Thank you for the congrats on the win (more on this soon in this epic post). Just a small clarification though, the Kaimana is the only board of its kind on the market. No other board is using indexable LEDs, which allow amazing flexibility which I hope we will be demonstrating some more this week! Not only does it work with the indexable LEDs, we provide adapter so you can easily retrofit existing LEDs systems and upgrade you sparky or other led board.
@jasen_hicks we going to make a run for stick of the year this year
For those who havenât noticed Jasen and I have been communicating a great deal lately. We are both excited and probably have too many projects planned. Jasen can correct me if I am wrong but we have been talking a lot about the need to bring this community together instead of splitting it apart. There has been a very adversarial shift in some discussions lately, we are hoping to change this. Fight games are about competition, but tech talk is about moving the technology in the games forward. Tech talk isnât about reselling products, itâs about inventing new ones. I think Jasen and I will be a fun team in this respect, now how do we wake up the old crew and get this moving again, @toodles @phreakazoid @32teeth @purplearms
Tech talk awards were announced and we are unbelievably thankful for the support. But first I want to congratulate a number of winners/nominees.
2013 Arcade Stick(Non-Custom) of the Year: @markman, thank you for keeping this community and the little guys involved, we hope to give back this year to your projects!

@Gummo Razer Atrox With Ouya
What can I say, Gummo does some great work and offers amazing tech support through FA
Runners up: - Ultimarc Servostick (mechanical 4-8 way switch stick)
Www.ultimarc.com is a competitor in the Mame market, but Andy Warner who runs the shop deserves more than a shout out for his constant innovation. Not only that, I feel like I need to fly to England and buy the guy a beer, even though we are basically competing down the line, heâs always nice to talk to and a great guy.
2013 Tech Talk Company of the Year:
Runners up:
- Phreak Mods ( @Phreakazoid) - I donât think Clayton won because he was nominated for company of the decade. @markman said it well when he nominated @phreakazoid and said he is the model of working with others in this community.
2013 Custom Arcade Stick of the Year:
TIE!
-
@b15sdm MGS stick with PSP and webcam - We love your stuff, even if you donât show the Kaimana love
seriously guys amazing work and it just keeps coming.
- @FreedomGundam Modular Custom ABS stick - I had this idea, but thatâs like saying I had an idea for an propeller airplane and you go and build the damn SR71. Amazing job, for those who havenât seen this, it was a work of art.
2013 Custom Arcade Stick Maker of the Year:
- @b15sdm - After winning they just kept going, posting more amazing work

2013 Tech Talk Product/Accessory of the Year (PCBs, Parts, Bags, etc.):
Runners up:
- Kahuna by @moonchilde- Keep thinking Tim, itâs only the beginning, you have a lot more product ideas in your future. This really was an amazing evolution to button silencing.
- Universal Fighting Engine by @Mistermind - How is this not a company making millions, this is anamazing piece of work. Reminds me of work being done by Galloping Ghost Arcade also.
- UD-CPS2 by @undamned - I am jealous of this hardware, great work.
2013 Tech Talk Case Maker of the Year:
- FoeHammer - IIIII, We hope to communicate a bit more with the boys this year⌠Congrats well deserved
2013 Tech Talk Rookie of the Year:
-
@nsc - IIII - Since you are in jail shouldnât this go to the runner up?
Sorry @nsc but I need someone to pick me up at the airport, and I know you wonât be there!
Runners up: - @SusanInParadise - For those who donât know, Susan is my beautiful wife and yes⌠Her profile is real. I canât say enough about the women who puts up with me, puts up with you guys and knows how to solder. Yeah boys, itâs time to man up to the soldering iron. Susan can make some videos teaching you how to do that, after she finishes the lube videos, lol
Finally, thank you for awarding both Company of the Year and Product of the Year (Paradise Kaimana). I know I speak for both Susan and I when I say that this community is an amazing driving force behind what we do. We need to sell buttons and joysticks to keep the lights on, but, we want to keep offering the niche products we have been able to introduce with your support. I only hope we can exceed peopleâs expectations this year and start more fun projects with people like many of the nominees, winners and other tech talk members who are innovating the way these games are played.
Nah, I broke out
@nsc Nice! But my guess is you still wonât be at the airport for me tonight so my previous statements stand
Which airport? Iâll try my best
Alternatively, I doubt youâd be here for me if I needed someone to eat cookiedough with and play 3Soe while crying about relationship troubles.
Which is why body pillows exist, I could probably rig up a body pillow to drive a car, note that it wouldnât be legal, safe, and would likely crash your car, but itâs the thought that counts right?
Wait, what me the voice of sanity? If I am the sane one than were all in trouble.
But really I am humbled by your kind worlds.
@armi0024 I know this is an odd request but would it at all be possible to stick two delrin 1mm actuators into a tiny envelope and send it to NYC? I want them like pancakes need butter but Iâm having trouble pulling the trigger on the shipping. I know Iâm being a cheap bastard, my apologies.
I agree Brian! Hereâs to 2014 and some sweet sweet new things!
::Crawls back into the hole to design more neat things::
@nsc just call, Iâll eat cookie dough with you any day
@darksukal when my head got hot, you cooled it off, thatâs a voice of reason!
@Zensouken we are always happy to do that, just hit Susan up, sheâs been a bit busy lately but shoot her an email. Or you can just catch me on the 7th of Feb in NYC more interviewsâŚ
@Jasen_hicks letâs rock this shit in 2014
kind of a stupid question, do you guys accept Paypal? I was trying to get some stuff but couldnât find it as a payment option. thx
