Paradise Arcade Shop, LED Joysticks, Buttons, Mods and more

How about adding the Universal mounting plates as a pre-order item in your store so that we can place an order along with stocked items to ship when the plates are available?

@emphatic great idea, we had a manufacturing snafu, and by snafu the original manufacturer said, ā€œOh sorry we misquoted, they are now twice the priceā€. I have three places that can stamp instead of cut (more upfront cost but lower long term costs) with samples coming in this week or next from one. If everything looks good, we’ll open up the preorder.

We were originally having these laser cut and machined, a stamped part will actually be a big step forward in quality.

I dont know whether to like that post or not. Always sucks when things cost more unexpectedly but better quality is never a bad thing.

Always fun when you deal with manufacturers. I thought you guys would like the cake we did last night for Tyler’s 5th.
Yes, I actually ran neon lights, and my sister did the cake. Best part was taking 5000 volts through my little finger…oops

Sucks that the kid has a dad who was an electrical engineer…! LOL

But seriously, nice cake. (Better than mine was… :frowning: )
What are the crossed neon tubes supposed to represent? Lightsabers?

Now that the New Year is almost here, how are things coming with the LS-32 replacement spring proposal?
I’ve gotten back to playing more of the CPS-2 era Capcom fighters and my general control problems have been due to the springs… It’s just crazy trying to get any consistency with spring mods using the Seimitsu (OR for that matter, Sanwa) springs. Year-to-year, they’re all over the place tension-wise and I don’t think any two joysticks of a given series are exactly the same because of the lack of spring consistency.

I’m beginning to think that spring tension is the biggest recurring issue many of us have with joysticks in general regardless of the brand name.
I know replacing the spring in my one LS-58 with a higher-tension 3-lb spring made a huge difference in the useability of that particular joystick.
I don’t think it would take a dramatic leap in spring tension to make the LS-40 or LS-32/Zippyy clones more consistent performers, either. It might be as little as 25-35% more tension, probably no more than 200% increased tension. Probably on the order of 1.25-1.5 times more tension. (That seemed to be the case with the LS-58 for my comfort zone.) Just a bit higher-tension would make the control inputs a bit easier, definitely more consistent. Looser tension makes hitting diagonals and doing ā€œdragon punchā€ motions harder IMHO.

Joysticks are wonderful when you you don’t have to do 3, 4, or 5-point maneuvering within a set period of time… Low tension doesn’t matter so much if you’re playing Donkey Kong or Pac-Man but when it comes to something like Street Fighter where your timing has to be just so those stock-tension springs come up short as it were.

The Japanese just love low-tension springs. Very clever. They probably get more coins for all the mistimed control inputs!
I think it’s the same reason why arcade controls swapped from being right-handed to left-handed. They (the game companies) just knew they would get more coins into the machines if they repurposed the controls so that it would screw up 90% of the population!
[Personal History: I’m left-handed but learned gaming with RIGHT-handed joysticks so it wasn’t that big of a deal for me to switch to left-handed controls after the Nintendo NES standardized around left-handed D-pads. As it stands, I still occasionally play right-handed, too, when I switch to playing flight games with aircraft controls. Those are all right-handed controllers!]

Arcade controls per se have NEVER been about making the play experience easier for gamers… Why make it easier for people’s coins/quarters to last longer? At least that’s the way I see it.

Home settings are a different story… People are expecting to find a home solution that makes using joysticks a bit more consistent and more comfortable at home and in tournament play.

You must be kidding about the low tension springs in game centers being a way to make more profit?

Seems to me most arcade players ā€˜place’ and ā€˜put’ the stick where it needs to be and don’t rely on the spring. Makes sense considering that they come from a place and era where you didn’t have your own personal stick, but had to learn how to best play using a method that was consistent on most joysticks.

As a disclaimer, I prefer a beefier spring myself, and I agree with what you are saying in that department… But I don’t see Japanese operators being that devious, especially with so many arcades sporting games made by the company that owns the arcade itself. Shit… From what I’ve heard, most big arcades over there will change out the joystick on the spot if you mention that its not working well.

on topic:

Still very much interested in seeing how Project Magenta pans out.

That being said, I wish there were a higher tension replacement spring for the LS-40. If I can’t find a replacement for it, I may end up buying an LS-56 and see if that works better for my shmup stick…

Hey guys, before these hit Ebay I thought I would offer these up here first. We have a stash, literally 6 boards of SFII Champ 920310 with the accelerator (we have a 7th board with no sound that will go CHEAP), an SF the Movie, SFII World Warrior 911101,SFII World Warrior 910214(with a graphics glitch), and two SF Champ ETC 920313. Let me know.

There are abunch of new springs arriving in Jan. We are catching up on a number of things, also look for our new kickstarter when the universal plates ship. We are going to kickstart a long awaited project.

LS-56 and LS-40 have very different feel to them. LS-40 is smoother and better to play on, but the LS-56 currently has more mods for it. That may change, maybe Bryan can get some LS-40 springs together, and that would be good, because they’d also be compatible with the LS-32, a more popular stick.

Also, if you are looking for shmup play and are going to get a LS-56, I recommend the short and no throw gates for it.

We ordered LS-32 springs

Hey, does anyone know if the Kaimana J RGB LED fits Gamerfinger HBSF-30 and HBSF-24mm buttons?

Been looking to deck my plexi hitbox out with LEDs for over a year now but haven’t been able to get a straight answer on button compatibility. Would love to rock a flashy hitbox by the time Evo comes around!

No, but the Pele’s will work.

The main problem with undermount are the silent pads in the Gamefinger buttons

Thanks. Any idea if I’ll have problems fitting Pele’s in a hitbox layout? That was the main thing keeping me from picking those up.

We made them to fit very tight spaces. I think Pele’s are what most people have used.

Interested. Let me know a price.
I PMed you back (twice) regarding the JLW brackets and you never got back to me, so I ended up ordering 4 iL black Eurojoysticks because I need to have the cab done ASAP. I’ll use the Fight Stick 1s for something else in the future and if I do decide to do the balltop sticks for the XMen in the future I can always use black iL sticks for something else.

EDIT- I’d also like to add eight White Seimitsu PS-14-K 30mm Pushbuttons, 1 player 1 imprint button and 4 US/EU button plugs to my order. Considering I made it on the 30th and haven’t received any shipping information I assume we can add those to the same shipment.

Try contacting Susan rather than Bryan. She takes care of all the shipping and stuff. @susaninparadise

@FrankCasleAZ - Email susan@paradisearcadeshop.com … give her the order number and what you want to add.

@FrankCaslleAZ i’ve sent you a pm, I forgot to mention, you can return the fight sticks if you’d like.

Hi everyone, I wanted to pop my head in and just say what a pleasure it has been chatting with Bryan at PAS over the past couple of weeks. He’s a great guy to bounce ideas off of and collaborate with. As I get closer to launching the Panzer Fight Stick Wide Body Edition, I wanted to let everyone know that I will be making Kaimana LED controller mounts standard in these cases. I was impressed with the videos, the layout, and possibilities of this board and feel its a great option to include in the new cases.

Finally, PAS and Jasen’s Customs has a very interesting project in the works that will show off what collaboration, creativity, and a little insanity can bring to the community! I know you all will enjoy it!

Sorry I’ve been so difficult to get a hold of, we’ve been really busy with the holidays.

Jasen and I have been having some great conversations about new projects. So many ideas, so little time! We are really excited about some of the projects we are working on and hope that this collaboration will foster others.

I am also interviewing for a move that will take place in July of 2015. The shop will stay and probably expand as we will be moving back to the mainland. The top possibilities are East Coast, Upstate New York/Connecticut/Philadelphia, or the midwest Minneapolis, and Madison.

Thank you again for all the support through the holidays, this year was pretty amazing. As always we will be working hard to bring new products out.
