Okay, well i’m posting two in a row this time, but i think it’s hella important. I want to have a Tournament Announcement thread ready and up by tomorrow. This last tournament was a lot of fun and everyone wants to have another one. The only things that could have made it better would have been a larger turnout and better organization.
Now, we’ve already heard from CT players and the New City crew. Hiro’s coming (w00p!!!w00p!!! You guys will LOVE the way he plays) too. Xenster will bring his people to represent NJ. And there was a player from LI who said he and his (6!!!) friends woulda played if he had know as well.
But everyone says that they need some time to set up plans, take off work, etc.
By posting an announcement tomorrow, everyone should have enough time and our turnout will be great.
I definitely think we can get 16 people with ease, but even more means more fun and more of a pool for the winners to walk home with. Even more important that that, we’ll all meet some cool new heads and the gaming community here will be stronger than ever.
So, sorry if i sound like an asshole or if i’m on some power-trip, but i think that we should end our discussion about the tournament by tonight and have the thread up tomorrow.
Issues to be discussed are, of course, should this be a console tourney or arcade-based, and then, where should it be held. Once again, console tournament would allow us to have CvS2 and maybe even another game, plus it would be cheaper for everyone. MAS sticks are available so there shouldn’t be a problem with DC controllers or whatever. On the other hand, the arcade experience has a distinct feel to it, and maybe it’s essential to the experience.
The possible locations are the arcade, Xzone (if they’ll have us), or people’s houses.
IMO, we should do a double-elimination console tourney starting at 2 on Saturday the 13th at Xzone, with a $5 entry fee, prize distribution at 60/30/10. Games should be MvC2 first and then CvS2.
What do you think?
