Nah consent is state based in the US, if I recall here in Iowa if someone’s under 18 there’s also a 3 or 4 year gap that makes it ok, even if someone’s 20 and the other is 17.

A distinction should be made between a pedophile and a sexual predator, IMO. I don’t think the majority of pedophiles act on their impulses / desires. Imagine being in a mall filled with gorgeous women, all of whom you’d like to have sex with.

That’s assuming pedophiles are exclusively attracted to children. Otherwise, I’d bet a good number of pedos only watch vanilla porn for fear of being caught. That said, I’m sure they fantasize about sex with minors, but we don’t police thoughts yet.

yeah i feel you on that one. its definitly not the same thing. A pedophile is someone that gets a boner watching Hanna Montana. I dont think someone should be locked up for getting a boner in his own home while hurting no one. But anyways, I’m in the same boat as “you can’t jail someone for thinking something”, even if it’s pretty messed up. Child porn and beastiality is illegal because it’s exploitation, not because it’s morally wrong. ??? shouldn’t be making laws. It’s bad enough that there are laws that have been passed in the US and other countries just based around morals.
