Pacific Rim Thread (2013)

Blehh! Whole thing reads like its trying to justify the movie to snobby critic types that wouldn’t “get” the movie to begin with. Trying its damnest to pump up and analyze certain scenes to be “deeper” .

Don’t waste the effort i say. Those that didn’t like it, will continue to not like it even if there was an artsy character drama hidden in there somewhere. Not that this kinda movie needed that sort of thing to be worthwhile.

It’s not just about the concentration but rather questioning just how many kaiju they managed to send through. They started off at a slow rate, months apart. For the numbers to add up they would have had to send through dozens of Kaiju over the course of the war accelerating as they got closer to the time of the movie.

Yet during the movie multiple kaiju in a week was unheard of much less a double event. So were the Kaiju coming on up to a biweekly basis before that, or something?

Though to be honest, when I was on my way to work it hit me that in like the last week’s worth if time this movie covered there were 6 kaiju so I guess it’s not too hard to believe.

Saw it a couple of weeks ago in iMax. As a longtime G-fan, gotta say the film was freakin’ godlike, and being Legendary is also doing the Godzilla reboot, the future is looking bright for a kaiju fanboy like me. That being said, the kaiju designs were kind of meh, but the awesome that is the Jaegers more than make up for it. Probably don’t want any of the OC kaiju to outmatch the OG kaiju that are no doubt coming to be coming out in droves once both Legendary flicks are out and about, since I think Legendary got the whole Godzilla rogue’s gallery along with him.

Pacific Rim: Final War…yesssss.

After getting 6 needles jammed up into my nasal cavety for a crown on my tooth, I was awarded 2 movie tickets. I love mecha shit but hate movies that lack action(which I briefly read another member mention this movie is lacking the action). Though, if the non action stuff builds up to the action then I’m all for it. So, would it be worth it for those that have seen it?

80% of the movie is monsters and robots fighting, that person that said it doesn’t have enough action is a complete fucking idiot.

I’m not sure how one could think this doesn’t have enough action.

Seen it twice - I can’t say it’s all action (more often than not for sure), but it’s definitely a well played balance and you never feel like “it’s that time again” or that it got slighted. The movie is edited very well and things just flow logically. I wish more action movies would be this well designed on the editing floor.

To answer your question, you’d deny yourself awesomeness if you did not see this movie.

DU EIT!

Finally saw this movie and I LOVED IT.
I have no idea why some of you gave the lead actor such a hard time. No, he’s not going to grace the oscar stage anytime soon, but he’s nowhere NEAR as bad as some of you made him out to be.

People keep describing the performances as cheesy, but other than the babbling scientists wacky duo, I thought the performances were pretty solid.

Fave part: “We need to check for a pulse.”

Also, the theater I was at had a pretty nice sized crowd and there was clapping at the end. That’s an encouraging sign.

This film def made me look forward to the new Godzilla. Goodbye, memories of lol98notzilla

Off-topic but the rumor mill says that Leo DiCaprio is interested in headlining a Robotech film http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/24/leonardo-dicaprio-interested-in-robotech-movie

A better international reception to PR might help get the wheels turning…

this was not even close to being as good as godzilla or king kong, and those aint even good movies (king was decent, god was mediocre at best).

1 thing ive learned, never listen to film reviews by gamers. you guys fucking blow, do you like being braindead and seeing braindead movies? this is one of those movies where every little bitch around here says they like it, and in a year from now everybody will say it was shit. grow some fucking balls and have an opinion of your own. at least understand when you see mediocre bs you recognize it. maybe its too much to ask for from the lot over here though. dumb motherfuckers.

p.s. im not saying action movies should all be as op as the original predator, but at least give us that ong bak/tom yum goong shit where something in the movie shines (action and fighting). this movie is as retarded as the audience its meant for.

Just saw this movie again. It still owns.

What i like is how it follows the Speed Racer (my favorite comic/anime inspired movie) formula. There were only 3 actual fights in the movie (the 4th being the australia daytime fight), but you didnt feel gypped by any of them. The double event is the “main” fight of the movie for sure

Seriously, just because I play games doesn’t mean I am a gamer, just as if I see a couple movies and have an opinion doesn’t make me the next Roger Ebert. You can hate all you want, but if the masses (at least in this thread) feel that the movie was solid, doesn’t mean you have to go on a holy crusade to prove otherwise. I can respect the opinions of others, but your comments just seem like you are disliking for the sake of being visible. I leave this gif as I admire your tenacity.

Blah blah blah don’t feed the trolls and all that shit blah.

Give em a morsel every once in a while LOL.

According to Box Office Mojo, worldwide gross, the movie has made a little over 30 million over budget. Let’s hope it has a little more steam left in it.

Now just wondering about the home release (date)

How do you go onto a forum populated by mostly women and then say romantic dramas suck?

Don’t answer that. It’s rhetorical.

I’ll try to watch this weekend

movie was good and the fight scenes were one of the best fight scenes of the year, plot wise i found everything cliche and predictable but still enjoyable overall IMO. However, i couldn’t love the movie for one MAIN reason, and that reason maybe very shallow to most people, but the only thing that made me “dislike” (or not appreciate) the movie was how it strongly reminded me of one of my favorite shows during the 90’s… infact, it furiated me that the movie I was watching felt like it should have been a live action of this

instead.

I didnt get that vibe at all. I def could tell that different sources inspired the movie but I didnt feel like any source dominated the movie
