Haha. I was gonna be on the ask-a-JET panel, but will be at the PNWMajors instead. :S
Yeah, I don’t really know - didn’t make the schedule. There’s a pretty big number of people traveling for GG too, and if it’s the same crowd that I played up in Vancouver, they’re traveling even further than most peeps.
I think it may be a way to try to prevent from people having to play two games at once and getting things slowed down like at the random select showdown in portland. People who are heavy into marvel aren’t really into third strike. Just like GGAC and ST (I think I’m the only person who plays both  ). Then before that you’ve got the 3d games, most people like one or the other, and nobody really likes CvS2. Just FatBear 'cause he wins money off it. I’m sorry to hear you guys have to leave that early, you shouldn’t have bought tickets for a return yet and asked around for a place to stay! We’re chill peeps, there’ll be drinking and gaming sessions afterwards too, I’m sure.
I’m running 3s so when the time comes, if you want me to run your matches early, or get them out of the way as best as I can, I’ll be happy to try to cater to people to the best of my abilities. Hell, I can probably summarize the top 4 for ya if you have to leave.
That’s what I like to hear.
well I play st… but I won’t play it in teh tourney cause I don’t get enough play time around here… haha. Plus I didn’t feel like spending money for a tournament I have no chance of winning. Also lots of people like cvs2!
Well, about my only recent practice in ST is based on my work on STHD, which probably is almost going to confuse me than help me as I try to keep it straight as to what I couldn’t do before that I can do now. But enough of that stuff is useful that I’m entering it anyway just for the heck of it.
Axel Kelly, check your PM
The schedule is divided up by the consoles that all the games are played on. Three games are being played on DC, so they have to be played back to back to back. The two being played on PS2 (GG:AC and 3S) have to be played back to back as well. It was just a judgement call to place them in that order. Sorry if it causes any problems. We aren’t going to change it though because changing stuff around now is just going to get hectic.
I don’t know if I am going to be able to make it now, Job is fucking me over. Also I ended up selling my xbox, and didn’t realize that i said i would use it for PNW till after i came home with the cash…yeah sometimes i am dumb like that.
Hah, I don’t have to go but I signed up anyway. Besides, since I just got upgraded, I’m a bit behind everyone else.
That’s funny. Maybe I’ll see you there on Friday, though.
I just registered for T5 and ST. I am going to get so reamed in ST.
so yeah I will not be able to make to the NWM, blame it on my boss.
Hey Peter right? I think we met before at Ryan’s, well anyways, I’m 90% sure we will be on schedule this time around because I hate it when it gets f’ed up and everything runs late eh? honestly we will be wanting to be done by 10PM so you should have plenty of time for 3s eh?
Edit: Brent, on this note can we PLEASE enforce the fact that if people show up late past say 5 minutes they are DQ’ed no matter who they are? We need to enforce this rule or else we WILL run late IMHO.
I know we will have a PA system at our disposal, but I want to take it a step further. I will try to get a hold of a mega phone. They are loud and annoying but get your attention. I will try to get one sometime this week. I will grant Brent, and all official tournament organizers permission to use it.
Guys it is a WEEK AWAY now, we really need to a) GET HYPE, and b) ADVERTISE.
I am gonna put some flyers up in a gameshop in Kent and also at another nerd haven at Crossroads. I posted about NWM on craigslist also… if you can’t go anywhere and spread flyers, than at least go out online at any remotely fighting game website (Combo videos, tekken zaibatsu, etc) and let people know!
Yeah. It’s almost here. lol!
Yeah we can. We decided that 5 minutes late, we will move on to the next match in that round. When there are no more matches, 10 minutes late equals a DQ. I am at work right now, so I can’t write a long post, but I will update with all the things that got decided on yesterday at the meeting.
Mandel, Rob, Clayton, Nate and I all met up for a few hours, I showed them the room, and we decided on the ground rules for the tournament. (When to DQ someone, 3 registration times, security, and other stuff)
Im gonna be there now apparently, want me to run security!?!?!?
Confirmed: MBAC to be run at 7 PM

All right, so here is an update on all the stuff that got decided on.
Seeding- Players are going to be seeded by region so that people from the same region don’t face each other, and the top finishers from Season 3 at Zach’s and the Random Select tournaments will have seeds in their respective games.
Registration times- There will be three registration times throught the day, so that people showing up the day of for late games don’t have to wait 7 hours.
First Registration- 12:00- 1:00
Second Registration- 3:45-4:15 - Starts at the 15 minute break. Yes, it goes into the tournament times.
Last Registration- 6:45- 7:15 - Same as above.
These will be the only times that money will be taken and that registration is possible. People wanting to register throughout the day will have to be there at these specific times.
Volunteer Jobs- We need at least a few people to volunteer to help the tournament run smoothly.
Set-up Volunteers- (12:00-1:00) Help move equipment from the parking garage and move furniture out of the room.
Teardown Volunteers- (10:00- Finish - Help reset the room)
Tournament Helpers- Help find people and record match results. Talk to the individual tournament runners listed on the first page if your interested.)
Registration Table- Paullee has already offered to help with this, but if someone else could volunteer too, I think we should be good. Won’t take much of your time.
Violence/Fighting- Zero-Tolerance for Fighting- People fighting will be kicked out of the tournament and the building. I think the same should be said for physical threats, but I want to hear your opinions first.
Money Match Policy-- We are not a casino. We take no responsibility for anything regarding money matches. Period.
Casual Games Area- Casual Area is for everyone. Money Matches cannot monopolize this area.
Food and Drink- No alcohol. Keep all food and drink off of and away from equipment tables.
Disqualifying Players- We decided that after 5 minutes we would go onto the next match. If the person didn’t show up within 10 minutes the next time, they were DQ’ed.
Thinking about this, I feel it has a few problems.
- Moving the match back isn’t fair to the person who actually showed up.
- Changing the times of matches is just going to be more confusing.
- 15 minutes total is a long time to wait for someone who should have been there in the first place.
I am thinking we should just make it a 8 minute or DQ rule. That’s enough time that anyone should be responsible and be able to make it for their match. What do you guys think?
So that is a long list of the rules. I am going to write a short list here in a second.
Here is an abridged list that I want people to see when they walk in the door. We can print out and have it up on a big board.
PNW Majors Rules
Tournament Rules-
- Be aware of when you play. When you match is coming up, stay in the room to hear your name called.
- Respect other players. No heckling, trash-talking, or coaching while watching others matches. Cheering is fine.
- When your match is called you have 5 minutes to show up. After that, your match will be moved to the end of the round. If you do not show up after 10 minutes the second time your match is up, you will take a loss. ( I think the DQ policy is too complicated, so that is why I think it needs to be simpler.)
Violence-
- Fighting or physical threats will get reslut in expulsion from the tournament and being escorted out of the building. (What do you guys think about the physical threats? Just wanna ask since we didn’t talk about it.)
Money Match Policy-
- We take no responsibility for any money matches or agreements made between tournament attendees.
Casual Games Area-
Food and Drink-
- No alcohol.
- Keep all food and drink off of equipment tables.
- Throw away your trash.
That is what it looks like so far. It needs to stay short and easy to read.
Any suggestions on additions, subtractions or wording are welcome.
