"Our spirits are better now." General Cammy Discussion

ya, and the threads are a lot more clean too. look at the fuckin sagat thread or dhalsim thread, so many “i just wanna make a thread” threads that you cant figure out what to read…

organization and dedication

chensor…you jinxed me…I lost about 1000 BP the other night with cammy…sorry but I need a scapegoat and I am blaming you. LOL

Same BS happens in the Viper forum here and there. Rather annoying.

Hey Brown guess who this is?

Im quiting cammy too

my BP is around 4000 with cammy…

and I still feel pain when I face diffensive characters.

Cammy is just too weak.

After getting a good night’s rest, my cammy is leveling up and evolving from a Cammander to a Cammeleon. Hopefully this trend continues.

Having recent troubles with Balrog now… I know its not the matchup thread (thats a little unorganized anyway) but it seems that EVERY move he has is super safe on block… except his headbut and ultra

Knowing this… trying to be defensive doesn’t really work, because he has the ability to be a safe rushdown + godly turtle

look at the dhalsim thread… compleate shit. and he is a good char too.

for cammy to fight a turtle, she has to out turtle the turtle to win… seriously.

if it is a no good turtle, you can rush down. but for a really good turtle (dhalsim, blanka, gouki, guile, boxer, geif) you HAVE to out turtle them.

for boxer:
-dont jump back (so much) or forward (at all), only up cause he will bait a dash uppercut/straight or just move you in the corner.
-you can mp.SBF his far dash punches (med and hard only) and hit him.
-if you get him in the corner or in close range, you can Dive Kick (med or hard) at the peak of your jump to safely pass his headbutts/cr.hp/s.mp.
-early SA his dash punches to stop him moving in (if aggressive)
-EX HooliganSlide a med/far EX dash punch to get out of corners
-early Ultra/Super if he jumps to get out of the corner or cross over rape

that is all i can recall for now. will post more if i remember any.

I’m actually really enjoying cammy on here. She has some really nice stuff to use for mix-up in matches. I like the fact she can be played so aggressive. Speed and power make her a pressure machine.

[]Spin fist can be used well against projectile happy people, and kills akuma’s spacing bad since he can not block when landing after a air fireball (also can’t counter both hits lol).
[
]Can combo into the ultra and super from multiple moves
[]Great anti air game
[
]Good priority on the canon spike
[]One of the fastest/furthest ultras in the game, so it’s a great counter and punish move. Not to mention you can use the invincible frames at mid range to go right through a fireball for a easy ultra.
[
]Air throw
[]Fast poke game
[
]Insane air game spacing with the TK canon mixed with a mid jump canon, also 4x EX TK canon into ultra.

These are just a few of the really nice features she has, so I think it may take a bit for her game to develop, but she will be a beast. Right now the only characters I have a big issue with are guile and gouken on her, and every character will have counters.

She does have some minor downsides like the canon strike not hitting low blocked people, can’t land the entire ultra off the CS FADC, and too many of her offense entries rely on you jumping at the start.

you mean they could block it right? It hits them, just they can block it.

this question/concern was elaborated in the other cammy thread (for got which one), but the last part of the ultra is not that big of a deal. but it would be pretty sick if it did just for the looks of it.

other than that, good points.

even if the thread name is changed, cammy still loses to db and runaway :frowning:

Hahaha. Sorry, man. I’ll take the blame.

Yeah. She does. The only real way to counter that is Throw. What I’ve started discovering is that Cammy’s game seems to mostly be working to get in, and then really going to town with Throwing games. The Dive Kick turns out to be a great supplement to the Throw game (gets her in, gives her good mix-ups up close, punishes counter throw attempts, etc) and her walking speed helps a lot. But work on getting in, and the majority of you closing the gap WILL be done through walking, unfortunately. Don’t go too jump happy. But do whatever you can to close the distance and don’t be scared to throw.

A couple weeks ago I played against a co-worker of mine in a series of player matches. The fights first started off with him trying to out offense my Cammy, which ended with him being KO’d quite handily. Then he changed to the turtle game (with every character he chose), and those ended up being how the rest of our fights went. They were some of the most frustrating and aggrivating matches I’ve had to deal with. If I had some kind of tool that was collecting information on what I had used as my primary damage source, Throws would have been #1 by a long shot. I had to do so many throws, I almost felt like I didn’t need the other 4(6) buttons on my controller to do our matches. It got to the point where I started thinking, if this is how Cammy needs to be played in order to win against turtles, then this is one boring as hell match and it’s not even fun or worth playing.

Strangely I feel like that was somehow Capcom’s way of “balancing” Cammy since I’ve yet to experience any other character who could counter-rush down Cammy. They may start off trying to, but they always end up on their heels and needing to defend themselves from the onslaught of Cammy to survive. So if she also had a great (or even good) game against people who did super defense mode, it might be “unfair”.

chun and boxer

and guile

Wait wait, you’re telling me you think that Chun, Balrog, and Guile all have a better offense than Cammy? oO As in, they will out offense her offense…without playing the turtle game? I didn’t mean that there weren’t people who couldn’t “counter” her offense. Hell, any turtle player can really. what I meant was a character who could overpower her offense with their own. I know Balrog and Guile are really defensive and Chun can be…but that’s not the same. oO

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

misunderstanding :xeye:

scratch that

How come the two best Cammy’s I’ve seen are on PSN, I wish I could get a match or two in…

i think people greatly overestimate the importance of chip damage. it makes a little more sense in games like st or mvc2, where chip damage is a lot more substantial, but in this game you can pretty much not care about chip damage at all

these days, games are won by creating and capitalizing on big openings, which generally results in damage that is equal to blocking like 50 fireballs

of course, some characters’ entire gameplans revolve around chip damage, like o.sagat and guile. cammy is definitely not one of these characters. she wants to get in, get you to spaz and tag you with an ex dive kick for trying

look at rufus, everybody agrees he’s good. he has subpar normals (if you don’t count dive kick), and attempting to chip with spinny punch not only does “who cares” damage, it also pushes him out and ends his offense. i don’t think cancelling a move into spinny punch is ever a block combo either, so there’s a lot of risk there

so how does rufus hit people? dive kicks aren’t overheads, and they only cross up very rarely.

he dive kicks to counter mashing, and he throws you to encourage mashing.
(he also does offense behind the threat of an ex messiah kick)

i actually think cammy has a much easier time getting in than rufus, since her dash, walk speed and normal jump are much better, and she has ex drill. rufus has a scarier offense, mainly due to jump roundhouse

they’re both very similar characters, though. and they both die pretty horribly to balrog imo. balrog mashing low jab stops their dive kick attempts and is way harder than it should be to counterhit. also since balrog is dumb and takes that huge step back when he wakes up, it’s not reliable for cammy to pressure him with a verifiable low short combo on his wakeup

I too am having major issues with turtles. I guess I’m just not patient enough, but it seems like even when I’m trying to bait or throw, the other guy is a step ahead with his defense. Maybe I’m just not dashing quick enough with my standard controller, but I played a total turtle Balrog last night who did nothing but crouch and wait. I won once, but I just couldn’t phase him otherwise.
