Well, just got back. Not a lot of people there, not the usual boxers etc… No videos… ONE OF THESE DAYS HAHA.
I honestly don’t have trouble against turtles. Yeah, its a lot of grabs, but it’s not an impossible fight. Boxer isn’t too bad if you go batshit crazy on crossups.
SoCal Cammys - Lets meet up sometime in September!!! Anyone interested?
Well, I won’t go so far as saying Gief rapes Sakura. Sabre (Sakura) and CigarBob (Gief) play that match a lot, and CigarBob told me that Sabre knows how to fight Gief really well. No matter how often I play that match, I get owned by Giefs. Scrubby Giefs, expert Giefs, you name it. I die to them.
Yeah, Sakura, I will admit, has MUCH better pokes than Cammy. Her normals are a lot better for sure. They actually play almost identically, to be honest, though: get in and never get out.
I have to admit, my Sakura blows chunks. I’m so used to Alpha Sakura that I can’t do a thing with her in this game. When I say I think Cammy is much better than Sakura, it’s not so much that I think Sakura sucks, it’s more of a sign on how I actually feel about Cammy these days. She has so many stupid tricks and the best part is that every trick seems to branch into 3 other tricks, so it’s not like people can just see them and learn… they all turn into great options for her.
I dunno. Maybe I’m talking out of my ass these days and fighting G2 players online isn’t a good indication, though I have been playing a lot against really good players recently and holding my own. And even when I play against people like Ed Ma and Mike Watson, they win all the time, but I come really close. Hahaha. I guess that should count for something.
I should record some of my matches and see what people think. But right now, the best I could do is standard def direct feed or just a camcorder pointed at my TV. I should try to find a better way.
I’ve never actually gone to the LAN Center before, but I’ll totally do it if you wanna meet up. Lemme know if you wanna go Wednesday next week. I’ll make sure Valle is still having it.
Damn, I was wrong. Jut talked to Valle. On Wednesday’s, they go to someone’s pad to play, not the LAN Center. They do the LAN Center on Friday nights. So nevermind. I was wrong. Hahaha.
Well, I’ll figure out where the person’s pad is, and maybe I can show up to that this Wednesday night. Either that, or we’ll just have to play online or something.
On my phone, but I’d like to discuss how you feel about the sak gief match elsewhere. Maybe since you get to see probably the best sakura in the country play on a regular basis you can provide me some insight because I just don’t see it, and there’s nothing in the FD to make me change my mind about potential tools.
Well, I rarely see them play. I just remember at Evo, when Sabre was playing on the big screen against a Gief, I was talking to CigarBob at the time. “So much for Sakura,” I said to CigarBob at the time. “No way,” said, CigarBob. “I play him this match all the time. He knows it way too well now.” And sure enough, Sabre won.
Now, that has no indication of how good the Gief on the big screen was, and I know that CigarBob doesn’t play SFIV as religiously as most, but it sounds to me like Sabre at least has a strategy against Gief. I mean, I have a strategy against Gief as well with Cammy, but I still die all the time. sigh
I think one of the biggest things that helps Sak is that the LK Hurricane Kick is safe on Block, even from SPDs. However, I really am going by the word of what CigarBob has said and from what I saw Sabre do on the big screen (he actually was offensive and in Gief’s face for a lot of the time). I could be wrong.
i actually find myself doing better against gief nowadays. the problem was mainly always getting hit by the hail mary 720s near the end of the round and then the paranoia of it happening again killing me. i just learned to take a lead and stop pushing buttons to avoid ex slaps and just to jump everytime they try their hail mary 720 setups.
the other thing that helps is learning how to auto correct DP on my wakeup. gief tends to get a random knockdown in here and there. the key is to be able to auto correct DP if he goes for the crossup mixups. that way he nulls out all that oki bullshit that gief gets.
still getting 5-5 tho for putting much more work (imo) than the gief players. this is just tournies tho, so i dunno how they would do after playing a ton of casuals against me.
and recently i found out that i been playing on a laggy tv at home this whole time. lol. i’m started to implement ultra thru fireballs since it turns out that the laggy tv was what was killing me on doing it before.
GG’s to Faux123, I guess the last one lagged out because it was overflowing with awesome.
We both dropped a lot of combos, let’s just blame it on the netcode
Lots of execution screwups on my end, especially in the first 6 or 7. I just effed up Ultra a ridiculous amount of times lol.
That session really helped me think about where the holes in my strings are, which are also the same place I can bait DP (especially for shotos) or something unsafe from the other player. And I REALLY need to work on AA’ing jump-ins. I don’t know what’s the matter with me sometimes, I just don’t do it for some reason even though it’s big easy damage.
I liked your FA use a lot better than mine, I’ve gone away from it being a huge part of my game in favor of other moves, and I haven’t been able to find the right amount of it to use. Gotta test it some more I guess.
Wish I had set up the camcorder this time. Oh well.
