Man I haven’t played online in a long time. Mostly player matches and training mode for me. Yeah, my winning percentage is 55% or so. I feel like if I picked an arcade character I’d be having a higher win %. Oh well.
stick with it steinmania, ill be back on sunday, i took a two week vacation to visit my g/f. When i get back if you want to play some matches or simply go over strats im always willing to help. There are always things to be learned, im sure you can teach me some things as well
I think bison and cammy are about equal in that both of them have a super hard time against guile. Kim was tellin me that bison has a pretty hard time with rufus too. I dont think cammy-balrog is worse than 4-6 and same for Gief. bisons s.hk is great (s.mk too) but cammy has a collection of pretty good normals, some of which are special cancellable. Bison also lacks a consistent way to land big damage despite his strong ground game. It’s all theory fighter but if Bison is higher up on the tier list, it can’t be by much.
well i agree to you to a certain extent Dentron, I asked jchen to elaborate because at first i was thinkin cammy vs the 10 he mentioned, and not how they stack up to every other character.
But overall i’d say that after all the flash and shenanegins of the game it will come down to pokes. I would say cammys are a bit below average, where bison can shine in that category. Add in he has a very good crossup game, safe chip game, can nullify someone trying to put the oki game on him. He can be pretty much be wherever he wants to be with not much risk associated to it.
I do agree he doesnt have many ways to do big damage, and thus his comeback ability isnt high tier at all, but his ability to poke a lead and keep it, makes him in my mind have a much much easier time against most matchups than cammy has.
That’s odd, I’ve always thought Bison did well against Rufus, because Bison’s Stand Roundhouse owns up all of Rufus’s moves.
I’m curious as to your ratings of Cammy vs. Balrog and Cammy vs. Gief. 4-6? Whenever I play those matches against people who know that turtling is the way to go, the fight becomes really, really painful. If they ever get a lead, they can just sit there, and there is almost nothing Cammy can do. She can’t do chip damage to them at all. And ALL of Balrog’s Normals moves own up Cammy’s normals for free. Gief can jut be ready to SPD or Lariat and there isn’t much Cammy can do do attack a Gief that just sits there.
And I do have to adamantly disagree about her array of Normal moves. I personally think Cammy’s normals are just plain awful. To have decent pokes, you need at least moves that either come out really fast, reach far, or have high priority. If you look at Cammy’s Normals Move set, NONE of her Medium to Hard attacks come out faster than 6 frames outside of Crouch Strong (5) which has no range nor priority. Crouch Forward and Fierce come out in 6, but they both have a total count of 21 frames total and Crouch Fierce has very little range at all.
Bison’s Stand Roundhouse comes out in 6 frames, has godlike range, AND godlike priority. And it’s only 24 frames total. Standing Medium Kick also comes out in 6 frames, has way better range, and lasts 22 frames total. Ryu’s Crouching Medium Kick has great range and comes out in 5 frames and has good range. Ken’s is better with 4 startup and even MORE range. I don’t even wanna get into Balrog’s priority on his Normals. Ugh.
Basically, if Cammy had one fast and long ranged Normal, just ONE, I’d be happy. Her Standing Forward has no speed nor priorty. Roundhouse has no range. Crouch Fierce has no range. Crouch Forward is way too slow for how she should play and whiffing it leaves her stuck longer than she should be. Etc. etc.
So I dunno, I think she needs a much better set of Normals. But maybe that’s just me.

win ratio doesnt mean anything tbh, if u have that win % by playing skilled ppl and OP abusers then its ok
always better than picking a OP character and start abusing or noobashing just to get a good win %
I just got bodied by Sagat so hard online. Yep, I don’t know how to fight this matchup. Kara short tiger knee seems to beat everything clean, breaks armor, and safe of block. Unless the guy I played was light years ahead of me skill wise, I don’t know what to do.
this is supposed to be the “my spirits is better now” thread not the “i play cammy fml” thread =\
Against Sagat, the best I can usually do is EX Drill to get in under his fireballs and try my best to stay in once I get a knockdown. If he starts abusing Tiger Knee, try jumping back and EX Dive Kicking to dissuade him? It might hit him out of it, but for all I know, TKnee beats that clean too.
Get the knockdown, tk dive kick his ass, bait reversal. Not much else you can do.
Yah, I pretty much tried everything. Kara tiger knee covers tons of distance and can be reaction’d to a jump. Also, hard to stay inside when poke strings end with s.lk xx low tiger shot.
Yeah Sagat can be harder than Honda IMO.
Your Cannon Spike will beat a Tiger Knee. I don’t think you can do that on reaction though, just not enough time. So far, here’s what I do.

Waste the first round. FIGURE OUT WHAT HE’S DOING. Watch his blockstrings, watch when he does Tiger Knee. Stay close, keep the pressure, punish and do your combos too. Don’t rush down, play the oki game to see if he wakeup DP, or train him to DP on wakeup if you’re feeling gutsy. DON’T DIVE KICK SPAM. You will probably loose the round, but you have to figure out Sagat’s habits etc.
-
Figure out when you can Cannon Spike. Cannon Spike when you BELIEVE he is going to Tiger Knee. Use up your meter in this match, you have to win here. Use everything you learned in round 1 to take him out here.

Hope the Sagat doesn’t adjust and do it again.
That’s basically all I do against Sagat. You have to be smarter than the Sagat. IMHO, the strategy players on SF4 don’t use Sagat.
edit: I’m going to a local SF4 meeting-type thing. I’ll bring my camera. I plan to record myself against all the Boxers/Hondas/Sagats I can.
Everyone should drop Cammy and pick up Sakura  Her shenanigans are actually viable =)
My problems with Cammy are pretty much the same as J Chen. She can do nothing against turtlers; in a rock [block], paper [throw], scissors [attack] match, turtlers basically take away the scissors option. Not to mention she has shite for pokes! Basically she has no offensive gameplan. Her main gameplan works around throw mixups :xeye: Are you fucking kidding me? If it wasn’t for her fast dash she’d be 3-for-3 useless. Could you guys even imagine if TKCS was never implemented?

Cammy is better than sakura man lol
TBQH I think they’re same tier. Sakura has more options (which is why I choose her) and Cammy has more damage if she lands them.
it seems really hard to advance with sakura. and once i finally do get in, i always manage to screw up her links.
oh well.
No way, dude. Cammy is so much better than Sakura in my opinion. Cammy has problems against turtlers, but not any worse than Sakura IMO. And against the three characters that can’t turtle her that badly, I think she actually does quite well. Really, I only give Guile and Balrog and Zangief – maybe Honda – as characters that really mess up Cammy. I dunno, but I honestly do feel a lot better about her these days compared to before.

I think Cammy’s main advantage over Sakura is having the wake-up option to cannon spike. I don’t feel Sakura’s dp counts as one as it simply doesn’t work well. In general, cannon spike is the biggest weapon she has that Sakura doesn’t.
That said, Sakura has safer attacks - notably her ex Shunpuu where her game revolves around of. She has nice normals with c.hp (for AA) and c.hk (good sweep) as opposed to Cammy. Biggest weapon she has that Cammy doesn’t is probably her reset combos.
For learning, Sakura had a much less learning curve for me. For example, it took me less time to get consistent her c.mk -> lk shunpu -> c.lk -> ex shunpu link than it did for me to get cammy’s normal TK CS -> s. FP -> Spike FADC -> Spike.
As to say who is better, it’s hard for me to say as I haven’t invested in sakura close to 1/5th of the time I put with cammy.
Hi James. That’s useful to know. I hadn’t played Sakura intensively yet and was wondering how she would far compared to Cammy against the opponents I suck against (e.g. balrog, honda, gief). While one might first think that Sakura’s fireball would give her an option versus these, it’s obvious when playing her that they aren’t really effective. Like cammy, she has to rely on mixups as well, and she then tends to be encounter the obstacles similar to what cammy faces (e.g. getting).
Great to hear that you feel better about her. Perhaps feeling down about her is a phase all serious cammy players go through that hopefully will passes even if we now know her faults well.
Ironically these are also some of Sakura’s worst matchups. Sak’s fireball can’t really be used as a zoning tool since its recovery is so slow.
The only problem I have against any characters are Blanka and Akuma as Sakura. Gief Rog and Guile are fair game unlike the lopsided matchups with Cammy.
It’s true Sakura doesn’t have a true wakeup attack unless you stock ex for insurance ex.SRK but that’s all Cammy has over Sakura. Sakura has her GDLK c.Forward and 3 variation jump-in crossovers! Not to mention that her lk.Hurricane, fk.Hurricane and ex.Hurricane are safe on BLOCK
I dunno, maybe not for you guys, but I <3 Sakura over Cammy. The only times I would pick Cammy is if I wanted an easy time against Akuma / Blanka.
