After getting used to playing people who know what they’re doing, I lose rounds to scrubs pretty often because I forget to dumb down my game. Some people you just can’t condition to not DP on wakeup ><
In regards to kenuran’s post with some Cammy strats and combos:
This is the truth!
If you perform the close standing fierce “meaty” then you can cancel into a Spiral Arrow or a Hooligan. Why would you do this? Last night I was playing against a Gief and he had me cornered. He went for a jump in that I could have Cannon Spiked, but I performed a “meaty” anti-air with sFierce that I accidentally cancelled into a FP Hooligan and it not only anti-aired him, but it also got me out of the corner. After that I tested the usefulness of this in training mode; regrettably it’s a little difficult to anti-air with sFierce deep enough so that you can cancel into a special, but it’s worth knowing.
This is actually very useful. So long as you perform you Spiral Arrow within 1/2 screen distance from your opponent then this should trade or hit cleanly without fail.
For some reason I play better against people with better skills. I admit, I lose to Flowchart Ken’s once in a while. As others have mentioned, sometimes I would get too aggressive with them ending up eating them damn fiery DPs :arazz:.
After reading your tip against Giefs, I apply the same thing to flowchart kens and I would just stand there and do nothing or taunt them 99.9% time, them kens will either jump in or perform empty fiery DPs or naked Ultras, then I would punish.
Im at 3310 GP now.
I played against the top GP holder 3 times now with one of those times in the Championship Round. (I am 2-1 against him and I added him as a friend)
Im currently unable to play Champ mode any more cause I now got the connection problems that a lot other players got so I cant get search for or host any lobbies. Sigh
You were right about how dumb the Giefs are. Once I tried to make them come to me thats when I was able to best take care of them.
I am sitting at like 2500 GP, and I am already facing connection problems, but lag or not we must push forward for the crusade of cammy.
I’ve got a 360 as well, but the last thing I want to do is play SF4 on those Dpads. We have to play ghetto SF4 on the 360 with those Dpads at work in the break room and that’s more than enough torture as it is! On top of that you’d have to pay for XBL while PSN is free. D: Clearly the 360 people should shell out the massive cash for the PS3! I mean come on…it even has a blue-ray player…/entice
though I am getting my temp stick in the mail soon…does anyone know if there is a wired converter for PS3 to 360? I heard there was a wireless converter…
I haven’t been able to devote much time to the championship edition, though the low ranks were a random mix of skill levels on that first day. I was in a noob kill mode and ran into a Ryu in a championship match that actually knew what he was doing and I totally didn’t expect that. Also turtling Boxers are my bane.
was it just the crappy Gief I was facing or, does the j.hk>s.fp>Spike make for a safe chip combo when they let you jump in? I was just jumping in, doing the combo, it knocked me away after the spike, and I just held up/back to get away when I landed…he never seemed to counter that after blocking it. That worked infinitely better than my failed link combos I got to receive SPDs for.
i played for a few hours yesterday with cammy and a few hours today with sagat and if you have a shitty internet connection, cammy sucks. at times playing felt like pulling teeth, luckily next time i play online ill be on my sweet dsl. fuck cable.
I was talking to sallab0ut on #sf4psn this morning as he was playing champ mode, as he was about to play a Cammy player. I wanted to see that match, because I absolutely suck at fighting Rog, so he uploaded the match after its was done.
I went to go watch his replay versus that Cammy. After the first few seconds of the match, I knew that this wasn’t any ordinary Cammy, just judging by the movements. That Cammy pulled off some sick stuff like hitconfirmed cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.lk, into super.
After the match was over, I was thinking “wow, that Cammy fought Rog pretty well.” I walked over to my tv (because the text is so small) to look at the name of that Cammy player. As soon as I saw the name I was like “Oh snap! It’s Kenuran from the Cammy forums!”
Good stuff, man. That raised my spirits, and I learned quite a bit about how to fight Rog from that replay.
Thanks, the last replay I uploaded shows me playing against a turtle Guile if you wanna see that one too. (You have to look me up in the Champ points leader boards and then select watch replay)
I managed to break into the top 8 with 4730 GP last night. (the connection problems i had fixed itself i guess)
Some stuff I added to my arsenal:
Anti-Bison crossup Close MK
Anti-air (Some times anti-crossup) Close HP
Close MP for Vega wall dive and Blanka rainbow ball crossup
EX Hooligan for Fireball spammers
I honestly think that cammy’s hardest matchups come from Honda and Rog. Guile can be hard but it’s not nearly as bad as the other two.
^^^
Rog’s definately up there, but Honda? Not in my experience at least; so long as you watch out for his Headbutts then you should be able to shit all over him once you gain momentum.
If I was to gage her worst matchups it would look something like this:
Honorable Mentions (5-5; but they can feel alot worse at times): Dhalsim, Guile and Akuma: They can all zone you pretty well. In Dhalsim’s case all it takes is one opening and you can seal the deal from that point out. Guile’s style of play irritates Cammy’s style, but if you’re willing to adapt your style of play to his then I can’t see why it would be so bad (maybe I haven’t played any solid Guiles though?). I’m convinced that the Gouki matchup is even, if not in Cammy’s favor; so long as your patient he ain’t got shit on you, and if you have Ultra then you just shut down half of his game right there.
Every other matchup feels even or in her advantage. Although I’m unsure about Seth (Spiral Arrow going under his Booms is nice and his low health+Cammy’s high damage output = LOL DAMAGE!, but I’m unsure if that really suffices to make this match-up even in light of his other strengths).
booo… can’t see you on my 360 over here
btw…do u ps3 users use that “commenting” system on the replays?
The thing with Honda is, and I have played Honda quite a bit is that Cammy’s pressure is nothing he truly has to worry about. Once he has ex meter, he can sit there all day long, most of his standing pokes are far greater then cammy’s and her applied pressure really is nothing for him to worry about. She doesn’t do any block damage or has full to mid-screen pressure which is basically where Honda worries the most. Just like many of the comments said in other Cammy threads, she has a hard time vs. down back especially when the character she is up against is designed to keep the joystick in that position for a majority of the match.
I have learn alot from this site, I have read a lot of info, seen videos, like the ones of vasAZNion13 and others… When I reach the 3900 Battle Points, like 2 weeks ago, I guess I was playing good, but since that day I just Start losing against everybody, agains Kens, Ryus, Sagats, and almost everyone, the only character I feel good playing is against gief, and maybe guile, but against the others, I feel like they just need to j.hk to beat me, or spams hadoukens all the match, or crossUp me with lk, cuz if I guard, they can do a lot after that, and pretty safe… I feel like I have to do too much to score a win.
My cStrike and on guard or hit, throw its not working, I whiff the throw, or I get throw my self, or I get jab.
So im playing pretty bad right now, my battlepoints just keeps going down, right know at 2600 I think, and in championship mode, it has been really hard, I have almost 1000 GP, but it has cost me a lot.
I dont know what to do to improve my game and stop losing like Im right know.
plz some advice.
Here’s my record I pulled off my PS3. I play Cammy 100% of the time, so this is my tier list As you can see my below 50% ratios are the hardest match ups for me. For Gief I blame myself for not being patient enough but for others I have some major weakness vs them…
I don’t actually have anyone below 50% in my win/loss record but my worst opponents who are just about 50% are Balrog and Sagat, although I’ve been doing much better against Sagat recently. Balrog on the other hand, a good Balrog player can annihilate me.
Played a lot of scrub Ryu’s so my record against him isn’t that bad but I do have trouble with the better Ryu players.
My best match-up’s according to my player data are Dhalism, El Fuerte, Sakura and Gen. In fact I haven’t lost to El Fuerte ever, 61/61 apparantly.
Amazing how clear that “character win rates” is. On my screen it’s completely illegible…
Also, Rog, Gief, and Honda ftl. I hate playing against them.
Based on my experience (which could be entirely moot given that the Honda’s I’ve played might be incompetent) this match can go either one of two ways. Honda goes on the offensive, which isn’t very scary pre-knockdown, and gets hurt for it, or Honda turtles. If he turtles I simply counter turtle, staying outside of his jab headbutt range; this nullifies any safe pressure he might attempt. If your patient then he has to come to you and your defensive tools are simply better then his. Cammy’s grab, low Short, TKCS, wiff DK, etc. mix-up still applies here as well, so if you snag an opening on him he’s threatened by what Cammy can dish out, EX Headbutt or not. However, I haven’t played any terribly good Hondas or any terribly good Guiles for that matter so my opinion on both of these matches could very well be proven wrong; this is all based on experience ultimately.
