Cross-up short works on more characters in the corner. Off of the top of my head it works on the shotos and boxer (I don’t suggest doing it on boxer though, it only works if you perform it early on him making it (seemingly) impossible to combo).
man i gots to get me a scan of that book, that or goto the book store on my way home from work… its like 2000 yen right?
the guide is kinda cool, but for the most part there’s only one page of content per character, not counting frame data
the rest of the book is pictures of moves (the frame data isn’t even located in that same section, just in an appendix in the back), a list of like 5 or 6 combos per character (with good annotations at least), and then a really quick breakdown on the most-used moves per character
at least for cammy, the guide isn’t saying much that i haven’t already posted
Wow, that Meaty Medium Spiral Arrow is AWESOME. I love it. Well, not when opponents have Ultras built up, as I kept finding out the hard way last night. But then they don’t have Ultras, it’s a great trick to have. I was using it all day.
I’m definitely getting more and more happy with Cammy as time goes by. She’s still got some inherent weaknesses that I think should be taken care of, but for the most part, I feel really confident with her now.

I have a question.
With the mixup [Backthrow/Hooligan > c.RH Whiff > Fierce(?)Meaty Spiral Arrow]:
Yeah for sure she’s on advantage because she blocks every move thrown to her after the meaty.
But what if the opponent blocks the Meaty Arrow? What are the best options? I tried to doing a Spike after the blocked meaty arrow on a Sagat in Hardest but he still gets to me.
What concerns me here is that maybe the enemy can get a free throw off you?
Can the opponent do DP on wakeup and hit you out of your drill?
James, I tried back reading a bit but I do not know what you mean about the meaty medium spiral arrow. what exactly are you using it with that has you happy about it?
so here’s a few experience i have with it.
after blocked meaty arrow:
-DP fadc DP (probably one of the better options)
-mash throw (works well if they are afraid of random DPs)
-c.short -->combo or tick throw (i have trouble doing this sometimes, it might be i don’t get the meaty arrows with frame advantage that buk said it has. i.e. doing arrow too early/late)
-TK dive (only seems to work if they are a c.short masher…c.jab generally hits me out of it)
This is my problem right now, I tried this against a hardest Sagat (because CPU Hardest are psychics).
What’s funny with this is that after a blocked meaty arrow, I then do the Spike and Sagat does his uppercut. Sometimes I win, more often I don’t. What does this mean?
The reason your spike loses to his tiger upper is because Sagat did his dp after yours. Tiger Uppercut, like shoryuken and Cannon spike, has invincibility frames on startup. When he does his dp immediately after yours, his dp has invincibility “longer” than yours does (since he initiated it second). It doesn’t trade in that situation due to the fact that his dp’s hitbox is hitting beneath your dp’s hitbox.
Hopefully, someone will correct me if I didn’t explain that right I need sleep.
GG James. I can’t believe how much lag there was in our ranked match even at 4 bars. Hope to play your Cammy again.
why are you trying a mixup on the cpu =(
Because its psychic.
No seriously, because I know it will do an uppercut/react faster than I know of. I need a fast reaction to know if it will work or not. That’s why I tried it with the CPU.
So I’m the one reacting too fast? Hmm… didn’t expect that.
edit: nvm
Has anyone tried kara-canceling an Cannon Strike so see if it gets any extra range.
Like Ken’s EX air Tastu.
Im about to get my PS3 later today so ill be testing this myself.
Watch out for me in the future… (I prolly be in MagnetoManiac’s vids if the connection is any good)
well…here’s what i do to test out mixups.
i’d put cammy as the dummy…put her on record and have her do the mixup/setup, and then just have it on playback, and try out the ur own experience against the setup/mixup.
with “psychic” CPU. it’s hard to tell if they are trying to throw or DP you. this is my experience with psychic akumas back in cvs2/alpha3.
hey Vas what do you use to record your vids?
it’s pretty easy to get the drill meaty enough to juggle a dp, but its equally easy to mistime it enough so that you don’t have frame advantage afterwards
here’s an easy way to practice:
- pick two cammys in training mode
- record one cammy doing the entire set up, then immediately hold up after
- playback, block the drill, hold up
- check to see which cammy jumped first
the cammy that jumped first has the advantage. from there you can practice it until you can visually verify that you did the “correct” drill timing more easily
but yea, medium drill can get at least +1 for sure, and since she has a 3 frame short, that’s all she really needs
meaty rh drill after a dp is even frames at best, i think
Noob question, but what does meaty mean exactly ?
pinnacle studio plus.
nice method to test it.
i dont’ think i have the right definition, but it’s somewhere along the lines of hitting them with the middle of ur active hit frames. usually done on someone’s wakeup (can’t picture another situation at the moment).
i have no idea where “meaty” comes into play with the actual meaning though.
the net result is that you get more frame advantage cuz your move does the same block/hit stun, but you have less time needed to recover since you hit them LATE in your active hit frames
i think that may be a little confusing…i’m sure someone here has a better explanation.
