You can preorder through amiami now.
A tiny bit offtopic, but it seems Umineko ep7 is already 100% translated, and like 50% edited so far… so expect episode 7 translation soon. Probably before Christmas. :o
I pre-ordered it last night. Remembered to do it when I woke up going to the bathroom at like 2 a.m., lol.
Yeah, i’ve yet to pre-order it. Gonna pre-order Umineko episode 8, this game, and the PS3 version of Umineko.
… Then AH3 comes out later… Oh God so much money… Fuck my life.
I actually did end up pre-ordering the PS3 game too, since it wouldn’t be right if I just played this game without knowing back stories. It’s a challenge for me since I don’t really like all this Ryuukishi 07 stuff in general. I hope I won’t regret it.
Here is to hoping the FG won’t end up a kusoge.
It could end up a kusoge… But, that will never stop me from playing it.
I mean, pretty much every game I’ve ever played is a kusoge after all!
I’m starving for something new so it should at the very least make for some quick entertainment now and then.

Going to prep this up once it comes out proper. Also going to be strict about edits, FGD took a big shit over the BBB wiki and that isn’t going to happen again
Decided to read the first episode chapters (didn’t know it was 4 volumes long, damn lol) so that I’d familiarize myself with the story at least and all I got to say is that it was a great fucking read. The mindboggling deductions, the MAINDGAEMZ, the drama, the dynamics of the relationships between each other, Maria’s loli psycho personality and Battler’s borderline hardheaded-ness of not believing in magic and witches and his determination to prove the murders through human made it really entertaining. And the fact that this was only just the beginning after everything that has happened is making me want to find out what happens later when I have time in the future.
But I heard that they haven’t finished the manga adaptations for the rest of the episodes so I guess my only choice is to read the rest of the episodes on the original VNs and deal with the horrid art.
But it’s a “sound novel”, so them being lazy with the art even though they probably had the resorces for good art (like the arc ending covers and this game) is totally justified!
That being said, i say you should go straight to the VN and don’t bother with all the adaptations.
Get your information straight from the source material.
I’ll help you along, here’s the translation group’s site (translated up to ep 6 with 7 only having editing left)
http://witch-hunt.com/
And in case you didn’t know, each episode in the two arcs contain every episode in that arc before it,
so to get the whole game, buy episode 4 (which is the whole question arc) and the soon to be released episode 8 (which is the whole answer arc).
I recall hearing that that’s because Ryukishi wants to do all of his characters himself actually. Dunno how true that is, but seriously, what else makes sense when they can make things like this?

Not to mention the portraits, seriously.
If he’s gonna buy Chiru he should wait a while until the ep7 translation with ep8 compatibility patch comes out though. If you read the VNs from the start just be aware that the beginning for ep1 is looooooong and kinda boring, to give you an idea the manga begins like half an hour/an hour into the VN.
Yeah it really strikes me weird when the (cover?) pictures and portraits look like masterpieces, while the ingame art looks like something my niece drew?
Anyway so I’m trying to wrap my head around this but basically Battler and his relatives and the servants are
regarding the characters’ fates
considered dead to the world outside of Rokkenjima right?
Yeah…you should read the text at the end of the EP1 VN…
stuff from the VN ep1 that’s not on the manga IIRC
[details=Spoiler]The storm passed, …and the leaden clouds that enshrouded the island for so long cleared away. From rifts between clouds sun beams shone…and yesterday’s storm seemed like a lie. In the harbour, according to someone’s wish, the seagulls returned once again and let their lively cries be heard.
Afterwards, an inspection of the crime scene was performed by the policemen who came.
The corpses of the children who were thought to have survived until the end were not found after all, but from the pieces of the corpses that were found in that unimaginably gruesome crime scene, the police had no choice but to conclude hopelessly that the lives of all of the eighteen people, including the children, were lost… How gruesome was the feast of the Witch? Thus, how beautiful the Golden Land is, is a tale that can only be told by them… There are no tales to tell to those who came after the feast had ended. They can only imagine what happened during those two days.
However, …the Witch was fickle.
She did not bother herself to hide this tale that had no need of telling, and she allowed its transmission.
Then, many years later.
A strange wine bottle that had drifted on the waves to the pier of a neighbouring island was pulled out by a fisherman. Inside it was a thin, tightly rolled notebook fragment, written upon in crammed small letters.
That was,…this tale.
People will know for the first time, through this notebook fragment, the enigma of the mystery-enshrouded October the 4th 1986, and the truth of those two days filled with strangeness.
This incident was later called “The Rokkenjima Mass Murder Incident”, “The Rokkenjima Eighteen Murders” or such, but connoisseurs of the world came to refer to it as “The Witch’s Legend Serial Murders Incident”.
People who delved in the occult claimed that it was the aftermath of an corrupt ritual that had sealed the island, and spread the two days filled with mystery embellished and twisted beyond recognition through each and every person’s interpretation. However, even with all their interpretations, they will not be the ones to reach the truth of this incident. And even though the notebook fragment in the wine bottle will tell of this incident filled with mystery, it won’t be telling it with the truth. That’s right, …perhaps not even the writer of the notebook knew the truth. …It’s possible that she wanted to know the truth.
According to the name written down,…her name is Ushiromiya Maria. Furthermore, as the result of an all-out police investigation, concerning Maria, a body part, …a piece of her jaw was found. It was a precious instance where they managed to identify the owner of a body part through dentist medical records.
…Since in that gruesome situation there were countless body parts whose ownership or even provenance couldn’t be determined, it can probably be said that this jaw was an extremely fortunate piece. The police, since the piece of jaw was damaged, and even though no other parts were discovered nor identified, judge it is hopeless to believe any are still alive. And so, let us tie this tale to the last sentence of the notebook fragment that Ushiromiya Maria left.
“By the time you have read this, I will probably be dead.
The only difference will be whether there is a body or not.
You who have read this.
Please find out the truth.
That’s my only wish.”

The Witch will praise the wise, and should bestow four treasures in the Golden Land.
There, they should resurrect the souls of the dead, resurrect the love that was lost. For, if what they desired were even a mountain of gold, it was not something for them to obtain.
For George it was the fiancee he lost. For Jessica it was the person in her thoughts she lost. For Maria it was the love of her mother she lost.
Sleep peacefully, Beatrice.
A sleep from which no one shall disturb you again.
The winner is the Golden Witch, Beatrice.
All the eighteen people’s time ran out before the riddle of the gold was solved.
All eighteen people are dead.
When the Seagulls cry, there are no survivors.

Don’t worry I did read the text, yet that special “epilogue” after the text left me a bit confused, I just wanted confirmation.
The yeah at the beginning was to answer your question actually, though I can see how it doesn’t look like it XD

I know that they’re really dead, including Battler, but does that mean that Battler is now a “spirit” or in some sort of afterlife since he’s still “conscious” and trying to beat Beatrice currently? /stupidity
Hi I am new here (yup, I am such a Umineko fan I registered just for this thread).
Kind of. Read the next chapter and things clear up (a bit, that is it).
PS: I suppose this mean you finished the manga? And have the game already? IF so, give a look at the TIPs and in the ‘???’(Ura Tea Party). They are short and you don’t lose much by reading. The Ura Tea Party is almost the same as in the manga, but have a few extra lines.
Believe whatever you want because I don’t think there is or will be an actual answer for that. I’m as clueless as you are, but more confused after episode 6 >__>
