Ougon Musou Kyoku - Umineko no Naku Koro ni Doujin Fighter ABC Yuu Agin

the presentation and system mechanics are leagues ahead at least.

Well for one, MKV always looked like crap in animation and visuals outside the sprites, and even those were inconsistent.

Necrosis and I getting into this game.

Pre-ordered from Amiami for 3.6k yen + those other figmas i was buying.
My wallet will suffer but at least January will be Christmas for me.

edit : First glimpse, I thought this was going to look Blitzkampf-like, but it looks simpler, which is not a bad thing.

Oh, I beg to differ. It probably will start out rough (like most games do before adequate testing and patching is applied), but this is looking to be a product that 07th wants to see do well and have a good deal of longevity in it, not unlike Higurashi Daybreak (Portable) before it. The Daybreaks were also damn fun games, even if they were almost shameless rips of Gundam Vs.

I like that metaworlds overwrite eachother, adds a nice layer of thought to when to activate.

Guess I’m the only one who didn’t have an issues with her little “quirk”, but that’s prob due to me having issues with so many other things in the anime.

Honestly, I’m of the opinion that if you still hate Maria and her “uu~” after episode 4 (of the VN at least) you have no soul.

Yeah, I can see this game lasting a while too, even if it’s just because of the rabbid Umineko fanbase

I dunno. MKV was pretty much written off as garbage from the first trailer and clearly didn’t improve onward. The only thing that stood out from that game was the soundtrack.

I’m sure most of the reason this game will last because it already has fan support via VN/Anime/Manga. Of course it’ll be interesting to see how they improve on this game as it moves forward.

I got over the quirk after a few episodes since it wasn’t heavily implemented later in the anime. It’s kinda weird because I can’t stant Maria’s quirk, but had no problem with Misuzu’s “Gao” quirk from Air.

And honestly, that’s fine too. After all, half of the reason Melty Blood rose above the rest of the dregs, was because of the zealots that make up the Japanese Tsukihime/Type Moon fan base. The rest was because the game was able to evolve, through testing that only the Arcade scene could provide, via MB:AC and its upgrades.

Clearly, 07th seems poised to follow in the footsteps of their pals at Type Moon. For the sake of “Golden Fantasia”, I’d like to think that taking a cue from MB is as good a move as any.

I did like the soundtrack. Only other thing I liked was Virginia’s design.

speaking of MKV, did they even finish releasing the last 2 characters?:wonder:

i dont know the last new on the site was this

but i dont remember seeing a patch with him or anything

belive it or not i still play the game with some friends, i remember the hype that was over the game, and then …

Let’s not overstate the power of the Umineko fanbase. First of all, it’s a lot smaller than the fanbase of Higurashi, and second of all, the fans most passionate about it seem to be mostly women. This isn’t to say that men don’t like the VNs and women don’t play fighting games, only that it will also have to be a fun game in its own right to fully succeed.

I’ll admit I was hype over the Persona rejects myself. I played the game quite frequently as Virginia/Nobuko but as time went on…

I see plenty of passionate male Umineko fans too though, I don’t visit too many places with Umineko discussions though. Also, pre-orders for the game are pretty much sold out everywhere for what it’s worth.

True, but let’s not forget: Higurashi has also had the benefit of being out much longer than Umineko.

Comparably speaking, for Umineko to have only come out 3 years ago, and yet has blown up enough to have gotten various manga adaptations, as well as an anime (such as it is)? That’s nothing to shirk at, in my opinion.

In any case, yes, a good game will definitely go far with helping to attract more people to the series as whole, through word of mouth and such. But much like with MB, I can definitely see more than some being willing to give the game a try, just because it’s an Umineko game. Especially since it’s a relatively inexpensive PC Doujin game, and coming out at basically the same time as the next episode.

dunno you but i seriously dont see this game failing as MKV, im not saying that it would be a great game either, but i really belive that it has the potential to grow, if they really are interested on working on it
as far as what i saw on the videos, they are least are trying to make a game with a good amount of quality, yeah the animations are kinda stiff some times, but the sprite work, the mechanics implemented so far, the move list per char, everything screams that are least they are trying to make something half descent, i really hope that this game grows, not really fan of umineko btw, havent watched or read the vn, but its always see new games getting some love

I’m talking about the Japanese fanbase. Overseas, I’d say the fandom is predomininately male.

You can usually gauge the passion of the fans by the people that are making the doujinshi/fansites/ect. In Umineko fandom, I’d guestimate a good 85% of doujinshi is made by women–even the porn. Fanart? Almost all drawn by women. (And we’re talking about over 30,000 individual pieces on pixiv alone.) I’ve seen only a handful of fansites by men, and most of them were pretty much abandoned by the time the answer arcs came out.

Umineko’s themes of romance and identity are also pretty appealing to women, sometimes in ways that aren’t as appealing to men. But Ryuukishi is really good at writing women in general, as Higurashi shows.

If it weren’t for the BL genre, I’d be convinced that Japanese women have the best taste in modern animez technology. The actual good shit either tends to be aimed at older women (Josei genre, Noitamina), or succeeds with them (Panty and Stocking, Bake)
