Oh hey dude. Not sure what you mean or how it simply ‘wouldnt work’ when there seem to be so many options, some of which I’ve already done. You each join an empty or private arena server and fight until one of you dies - rinse and repeat. Classes don’t really matter either, ppl choose w/e what they think they can win with, tho you can mirror if you really really want to. And depending on the kind of fight you want it doesn’t even have to be arena mode, though that may be preferable map wise. And if the only option is a non-arena mode server you can use a dueling mini-game it will even keep track of the score and even make it fair by disregarding any capture points (if for some reason you decide to start capping which would be mostly pointless). As long as nobody else is in the server to interfere you’re fine. Worst case scenario you have to play in a public server with other people in it, just as long as it’s running a duel map you can usually get to your own little duel area and fight it out unbothered - but then again there are usually tons of empty servers too. Point is there are several ways this can be done.
And yeah logan it did get pretty ridiculous for awhile… I stopped playing for over a year myself. It’s pretty wild now and in some senses a new game, but I still like it. I actually do best with some mostly original loadouts (demo, spy). With the exception of very few must-have weapons it’s pretty balanced so you don’t necessarily need the new stuff.
edit: I think I can pull next weekend’s G.O. tournament for the MM and some overdue casuals. How many TVs do you have confirmed so far? If we bring our own we’re def gonna want to do casuals whenever we want…
And Shen that Q v 12 MM from 2 years ago is still on the table. This is the last time I bring it up. And don’t tell me how much you don’t play 3s anymore because I guarantee you between school, life and my other game I play less. It will be the scrubbiest match ever not to mention hilarious

And the only 3s mm I had on the table was my 12 challenge. No yun, urien or q. First to 1 round for 20.
Nevertheless, if you show up with the gear, I’ll do a first to 3 for $5 with you.

I’ll play a first to ten in ST, where I will exclusively use O Ryu and I will not be allowed to jump. – If I jump at all, you win that round-- If I win the set, you’ll never hear the end of it, and you will change your avatar on the SRK forums to something of my choosing. If you win, I will buy you a 6 or 8 pack of beer of your choice.
Speed set to 1; not sure if HDR Classic 1 is closest to ST 1; at worst, we can do this on a local GGPO or Supercade match. No items. Final destination. Fox only.
When I mean “it doesn’t really work”, I mean that’s it’s pretty imbalanced on 1v1 aside from mirrors. Like, medic vs. heavy or sniper vs. pyro would be ridiculously one sided. Not saying it can’t actually physically be done but you can’t use that as a measure of skill. Mowing down scouts and medics as a heavy doesn’t neccesarily make you a good heavy.
And like I said, if it had to be done, b-ball is the best way to do it.
