Other Publishers and General Comic Book Discussion Thread

MK is a good book. buy the hc for the first 6 issues. give it a try. you know you want to…

Moon Knight would be a great book, if it was a monthly.

The HC is nice, but they fucked up on some pages again. I have it, and the spread pages look horrible.

the thing about spending money on Marvel HCs, is…there’s so many DC Trades I want that I feel like it’s wasting my money to ‘try out’ something from the other camp.

I’m not trying to be closed minded, or to be an elitist, it’s just…I’m REALLY behind on the DC Stories I want to read/own.

Hell yeah Lego Batman Video Game! :lovin:

Judging by how shitty EVERY BATMAN GAME EVER has been, this has a good chance of being the best ever.

Do any of ya’ll know when the Uncanny X-Men are finally supposed to be done with the whole space thing. It’s getting old.

OMFG I’m getting it lol!!!

Seriously, if it’s good or better than Lego Star Wars II, then I’ll have to take a good look at it.

Is the Secret Six trade worth picking up? I’ve been following the team since before IC, but I haven’t read up on them after. But since they are in Birds of Prey for this arc I should catch up. Speaking of which, Birds of Prey continues to keep me satisfied every month, even though I have no idea what the Rocket Red team is all about…. I guess I should read up.

I really liked ASM. I mean, yeah he seems way different compared to New Avengers Spidey, but since all this happened the very same night the shooting went down and not some time later, it’s rightly understandable that he’s pissed like that. It would’ve been nice if New Avengers came out way after the Back in Black arc though…

Only 7 more days to the Clone Saga trade!

Daredevil TPBs-What’s a good place to start reading? Shit, what’s good in general? I was looking at buying Daredevil “Golden Age”. Is it worth picking up?

Visionaries/Man Without Fear/Any Bendis book

I just wrote up my latest backissue wantlist…

not too bad, actually…I knocked out one of my holy grails in the past year, so I’m ahead of the curve.

They come back from outer space in Uncanny X-Men issue #187 that ships in June.

I will get this…

Question though…has there been ANY good DC video games? I heard even the games based on Batman TAS were “okay”.

I started with Miller’s run, then read Yellow, then started the Marvel Knights Daredevil(starting with Kevin Smith, Joe Q., Bendis, then Bru). I don’t think I ever read Golden Age, so I dunno about that…

in a word?

no, this will be the first.

at least the first in a while…the Platformer based on the first Batman movie was considered adequate at the time.

Justice League Heroes is okay, at the very least the voice talent is top notch. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is soooo much better. But the team behind MUA has been making games for a while with the X-Men Legends games so Snowblind has a long way to go. JLH is pretty short though, you can pass it on a rental. Superman’s Shoryuken, Batman’s Guile-like Sommersault Kick and Wonder Woman’s Psycho Crusher are all pretty cool though heh heh!

Teen Titans for Xbox and PS2 is pretty cool for a rental, also really short. It helps that a new version of the game came into stores for only 20 bucks.

I liked the first NES (Super NES?) Batman game that was loosely based on the movie, even though I still have no idea what the game was actually about. Batman fights a bunch of robots until he faces the Joker. Last stage had some crazy impossible jumps you had to perform that were popular to put in games back in those days. I can’t believe I still remember the music to the first stage. I dunno man, that game was made by people who never read a Batman comic and possibly never even watched Burton’s movie. I dunno, still better than that old Spider-Man and X-Men game.

Oh, I l remember that old Superman arcade game when the second player could play as Shazam. Can’t remember if it was any good though.

Anyone ever played the Justice League Fighting game?

Allow me to add to that… Golden Age is one of the Bendis storyarcs. It’s TPB volume 11, the great story about the original Kingpin.

Also, the Marvel Knights era of Daredevil has some David Mack TPBs, Wake Up and Echo: Vision Quest. Neither of those are essential to the Daredevil storyline- they are only essential if you want to read something beyond awesome.

One of the key DD stories is Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli’s Born Again. That is considered to be a superhero classic, and the TPB is probably one of the best Marvels ever. The Frank Miller Visionaries are really good, too, but kind of pricey. Skip the first volume of the Visionaries, because volumes 2 and 3 are the ones Miller actually wrote. (Those are also the ones with all that heavy stuff with Kingpin, Bullseye, and Elektra.)

There was a Justice League Fighting game? What system?

SNES and Genesis:

Ha, oh man. Superman with a mullet. I love the description of the storyline, too. It sounds like Todd McFarlane couldn’t have done a better job himself.

Player 2 was actually just a Superman Palette swap (red in color). The game was pretty fun… although Superman did have the ability to shoot an energy ball from his fist a la Hadoken which he can’t do in the comics.

I played the Justice League Fighting Game for SNES. Graphics were decent, but the gameplay and control was shoddy. PRetty much every fighting game for the SNES is compared to the standard SF2.
