Onslaught Reborn - Best thing in it was the explanation on how Onslaught came back to life. The story wasn’t bad, the pacing was a little fast for my tastes. The colorist and inker did the best they could not making Liefeld’s artwork look as bad as it does. Still it’s best to not stare too long at his artwork and breeze through the story. Hmm, maybe that’s why I felt the pacing was too fast! Ohs well for me Onslaught was in MVC1 and a boss at that so I can hang with this title for a little bit. Capcom fandom wins out again! Or looses out, however you wish to see it… At least you have a choice between a Liefeld cover and a Turner cover and next month there will be an alternate Joe Mad cover (Joe Mad still works? He’s the one who SHOULD be drawing this series but who can wait six months an issue… I know he didn’t do ‘reborn’ but Onslaught’s his baby). Remember when Liefeld did that Deadpool/Cable cover a few months back? That one stopped my collection cold and made me run in the other direction…

So I dunno, buy Onslaught Reborn at the risk of _________________! Hey now I gotta save all of my Liefeld jokes for the 52 Poo. Finish this Liefeld insult on your own!

Rest of the comics, minor spoilers all over the place…

52 - Nightwing’s in it! BTW Supergirl was crushing on Nightwing in her comic last week, he’s sure getting a lot of love right now. They still need to have him kick some major ass. No, last time in Outsiders when he got knocked out by a poison dart to the neck wearing a suit that 52 backstories have deemed BULLET PROOF (and yes, the dart hit part of his suit) is not a good example… but Outsiders is still a good read.

X-Men - Dug the whole story with the Latino baddies called the Children of the Vault. So they came from the Aztecs and were about to wipe out man after a big event happened and for them it was M Day? Hmmm, sounds a little like Phobos AKA Huitzil of Darkstalker! Good story arc and Chris Bachalo is still the man.

Teen Titans - Nice tie in with Heinberg’s Wonder Woman, Diana shows up working her day job. I still don’t know what’s going on with Diana being WW in Justice League though, supposed to be Donna. All the writer of JL said about it is “Heinberg is a genious.” I mean he is because Young Avengers was tight, but I sure want to find out how any of this will make sense… I hope Donna doesn’t die again or something. She’s been doing a crappy job of being WW too so far… getting beat up all of the time…

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man - A fan pointed this out in a letter and got me thinking… it’s quite possible that Ms. Arrow, the blonde haired teacher is Marrow. Well it’s hard for me to remember details, maybe this was revealed in the last few pages of last month’s ish. That would be hella cool if she was. Spider-Man went out on a date with her when he thought MK was dead in a Spider-Man/Marrow one shot. Back to the ish at hand, looks like Debra Whitman was the one that wrote the tell all book. And now Spidey is still teaching at the school under a new human secret identity that’s really funny! Peter David is the man!

Sensational Spider-Man - Good story that focused on MJ and her relationship with Spider-Man and how she’s dealing with Civil War.

Bad news folks, Civil War#6 has been delayed by two weeks so it will come out on Jan 3rd. Civil War #7 is still scheduled to come out on Jan 31. Seems like Steve McNiven got Stepthroat and could of finished on time but Joe Q decided best to delay the books. As suvh Punisher War Journal #2 will delayed as well to time it with the release of CW#6.

Punisher War Journal is garbage. Save your money or hard drive space.

Ultimate extinction?

Wow, you didn’t like the new Punisher War Journal, ‘trixy? I thought it was really good. It’s got a sense of humor and it’s sharply written by Matt Fraction, indie legend and BRU collaborator. Of course it’s different from Ennis’ iconic and definitive interpretation of Punisher, but War Journal is a really fun way of bringing Punny back into spandex territory. And the art is purty. He does look weird wearing the white gloves and white boots, but that’s about my only complaint.

I thought that the Ultimate Galactus trilogy was all right. The first two volumes have inconsistent artwork but I think Brandon Peterson’s art in the final volume really shines. The story is workmanlike Ellis- maybe not his best, but still better than most. There are a couple of nice character moments (with Cap and with Fury) but like a lot of Ellis’ stories, it’s more concerned on plot and crazy mind-blowing concepts. It also happens to be drenched in a healthy amount of typical UK cynicism. Fun stuff. I read the issues as they came out at the store, so it’ll probably be even more entertaining if you get all the TPBs and read it all at once.

What’s the ultimate galactus trilogy?

I’ll admit that I’m a little biased because for the most part I hate superheroes and wasn’t fond of Punisher being put into that world.

Punisher comics even way back in the 80’s and 90’s didn’t have much to do with superheroes outside of the occasional team-up with the urban hero (Spider-Man, Daredevil). And they always ended up the same way with the two parties forming an uneasy alliance only for the superhero to attack the Punisher because his way is wrong (whatever)and then as usual Punisher would get away. Been there done that time to move on.

Like I said I’m probably the wrong guy to get an opinion from because I hate superheroes, I pretty much hate Marvel Comics except for Daredevil, Punisher and couple of other books. If it wasn’t for Vertigo I wouldn’t even give a damn about DC comics. I read the first issue of Punisher War Journal and I’m happy to say that I won’t be reading anymore.

Spidey > you, noobie.

Which Spider-Man are you referring to? Amazing Spider-Man,Sensational Spider-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,Marvel Adventures Spider-Man, or Ultimate Spider-Man? Why a single character would have that many comics out is obviou$$$. How all of them could be so bad that’s the mystery. If anybody could tell me the last time a good Spider-Man story was released I’d greatly appreciate it.

It’s not like i’m totally biased either. The Spider-Man movies are great. The comics that they’re supposed to be adaptations of? Not so much.

You’re lost.

Warlockster- The Ultimate Galactus trilogy was written by Warren Ellis with art by various people. I forget the exact order of the titles but the names of the books are Ultimate Secret, Ultimate Extinction, and Ultimate Nightmare. The artists include Trevor Hairsine, McNiven, Epting, and Brandon Peterson, although I’m probably forgetting someone. Each of the three books was 5 issues long.

It’s pretty much about the coming of Gah Lak Tus, some kind of nutso entity that threatens THE VERY FABRIC OF REALITY ITSELF. Or maybe he just threatened all sentient life as we know it- I forget exactly. Either way, throughout the story, all of the heroes- The Ultimates, the X-Men, and the FF- discover the threat, learn more about it, make plans to fight Gah Lak Tus, and then eventually put that plan into action.

I think there’s a hardcover collecting all three TPBs. It’s a fun read but I’d probably have to reread it before I start encouraging people to pay hard-earned money for it. That means anyone who makes easy money should definitely buy it.

'trixy, what kinda comics do you read?

just read all my comics, and i gotta say : ultimate power is way better than i hoped. land’s art gives me eyegasms.

bp was great. i liked how he stands up to iron tool. good shit

Daredevil,Punisher Max,Fables,Blade of the Immortal, and 100 Bullets are what I pick up and read every single month. Pretty much anything else I just look at for the pictures. For example the new JLA comic. Don’t really know most of the characters nor do I care. I just like the artwork a lot. Civil War is a little better than usual Marvel crossover garbage but the art is great.

fables sucks. you need to start reading CRIMINAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!1111111

CW 6 and 7 have been delayed again.

Personally, I find the whole thing has gotten bloated as fuck.

I’m waiting until Civil War comes out on TPB. That way, I get all the issues in one convienent package, plus I don’t worry about delays to complete the story.

Although, this is comeing from a casual comic book reader. I just get the awesome TPBs (Hush, Long Halloween, etc). I’m not really a fan of weekly/monthly comics.

Ah, I gotcha. When you said you hated Marvel and DC, I thought you meant you were some uber-pretentious, The Comics Journal-reading, black-and-white-comics-only, indie/alternative publishing maven.

yeah, really. And 100 Bullets sucks. Azzarello is overrated

Wellman - it was my understanding that CW 7 was not pushed back and that both 6 & 7 will drop in January.

Because it was completey ignored/missed.
