Other Publishers and General Comic Book Discussion Thread

Best comic of 2006 to me. It’s about a pride of lions that escape from a zoo in Bhagdad during thr bombings. It offers some interesting views on the war because you see it from animal eyes.

And the art is gorgeous.

Turned me into a Henrichon (the artist’ name) instantly.

anyone watch the cobert report about Cap getting capped?

Yeah, baby. ABC! I know Carpet Lint’s also read it. He was insanely jealous that I met Gene Yang and got my book signed. Pretty surprising, huh? Clinty may be Canadian, but he’s an American-born Chinese guy at heart.

American Born Chinese is just a great all-around book. It’s the kind of story that I believe resonates with any reader, because at it’s core it is just about the search for identity.

One of the things I liked a lot is how the three storylines eventually intersect. It’s pretty creative, yet logical in the context of the story.

I picked up a couple of Gene Yang’s other comics: Gordon Yamamoto and Loyola Chin. Haven’t read them yet, but I’ll probably like them. I’ve met Gene a couple times now and he’s a pretty modest guy.

RE: CAP

The Bru is writing. Captain America, the comic book, is in good hands.

I don’t care how people are already complaining of this “sensationalized, event-driven” comic. It’s superhero comics. It’s Marvel.

I don’t care how people are already complaining that the death “has no meaning because he’ll be back in two years.” I’m sure he’ll be back one day, too. But that doesn’t change the fact that the current story is really interesting. Everyone comes back at one point or another. But just because they do, that doesn’t invalidate the stories that came before.

The point is, The Bru is in the driver’s seat. He brought back Bucky and made it work!

HE BROUGHT BACK BUCKY.

How can anyone doubt that he could kill Cap and not make it an awesome story?

Doubters must be heathens who don’t go to the Church. To the TRUE BELIEVERS, I exhort you all: FACE FRONT. We will form an inquisition and begin a crusade against the pagan animals. They will believe, or perish and suffer an eternity of, um, eternal suffering.

RE: Pride Of Baghdad

Best book of 2006? Heck, that could be the best of the decade so far…

Professor Habeas Corpus, NO!

The ending to CRIMINAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!1111111!11 saddened me. Although predictable, it still touched me.

The latest JLA issue was fucking crazy. Brad Meltzer can definitely narrate a story pretty well. Very brutal fight between Reddy and Solomon Grundy.

The last two 52’s have too fuking good. Black Adam needs more panel time in this book. TOO fucking good. World War III looks a lot more interesting now.

Geoff Johns Action Comics was pretty damn good. I dig it. And the latest Green Lantern issue was too fucking dope for it’s own good. BATMAN got approached by the ring to join. “You instill great fear. Welcome to the Sinestro Corps.” HOLY FUCK GODDAMN!!! If Batman would join, it’d be a wrap in two pages and an advertisement. That issue was God Tier.

Oh, and Detective Comics not being written this month(and next month) by Dini?! Fuck Countdown. GIVE ME MORE DINI!!! Robin may as well should have the Condoment King in that issue. C4 adhesive ftl.

And Jeff Smith’s Shazam book is pretty damn good. It’s…happy, to say the least. I like it. Very fun story so far.

i say we begin by getting rid of lone hiryu saga. just cause

Big ol’ Joe Q interview regarding Cap’s death and other stuff like Dugan was not killed in Wolverine Origins like lots of people thought.

Captain America’s legacy… the torch has been passed:

(Note, not serious. Its a video from Colbert Report, and no, not the one about him talking about the death)

lol too damn good.
I didn’t think “Wakandan Vibranium” would ever be mentioned on TV. ever!

thanks that made my day.

On a more serious note. Cap’s Legacy… the torch has been passed?

Variant cover to a certain comic… with a certain costume.

lol with the 90s style pouches and everything. I hope Fraction/Olivetti isn’t serious about that and just an alternate cover like the Red White and Blue Ironman on Initiative.

Fucking stupid Marvel killing of Thanos and Captain America within weeks of each other

wait wtf? thanos died!!! when…

About Thanos:

Annihilation

Spoiler

He dies in Annihilation. Killed by Drax who was supposed to kill him all along. Annihilation #7 reveals that Thanos and Death are together after Thanos dies, wearing similar clothes and arm and arm together when they visit Annihilus who is about to die so this to me is a good death for Thanos and I for one hope that he never ever ever comes back to life because he did get his dream come true. Hell he and Death should be the official Grim Reapers of Marvel, they should visit Cap’s ghost after he’s killed too, would love to see that.

Anyone else digging Lady Mastermind in the X-Men? She’s like a bitchier, harder Emma.

Yeah, I remember getting confused at first with both of Mastermind’s daughters who was who when both appeared around the same time in different books and had ‘Mastermind’ in their names, Mastermind and Lady Mastermind.

X-Men is grrrrreat! I love Lady Sentinel chick!

Spoiler tags please if possible. I’m still getting all the Annihilation back-issues before reading current issues based upon the advice of my comic book guy.

She is the shit. I’m loving the vibe of the current team. I hope they don’t do away with either of them.

 My bad, figured it was an older issue so eveyrone would have known, I’m sorry
