I always wanted 2 get with spiderman unlimited ever since i played and beat the game.
Sup guys. Once again I am a bit late. I did kind of enjoyed the january issues of civil war and still waiting for Guggenheim to do the Flash. I finished reading:
Moon Knight # 7
Punisher War Journal # 3
Blade # 5
Black panther # 24
Civil War: The Returrn (to be honest was a bit unecessary)
Thunderbolts # 110 (just wanted to give it a try to see if i bother to continue with the current arc)
Well marvel once again is milking the civil war thing a bit too far! Why the fuck should ghost rider give a rats ass about what is going on! It is one of the casualities of war tie-ins. I dont know how to do the spoiler tag so I wont bother with the story.
Picked up Batman Begins brand new for $8.88.
Does anyone remember any posters that were made with deadpool with a whole bunch of mask of various super heroes on his wall like trophies or a picture of micro sentinels or even a new rogue that was in all black like a leech or something? If anyone knows of what I am talking about cn you tell me what x-men series it is a part of.
Anyone reading Godland?
I picked up the 60 cent issue, it was decent and I guess a pretty good recap but I would like to know if the series is usually pretty good or just empty Kirby homage before I consider investing.
Also Nextwave is done with this last issue… fuck ya that didn’t give it a try. The two mastermind reveals in this issue make it the best book of the week, even beating out Justice Society of America.
I hate monkeys.
G0dland is worth it, man. Joe Casey won’t do you wrong. There are two TPBs so far. This series has heart.
So I went to Boarders during my 3 hour break from work (was working a double shift) and went to look for books in the TBP comics section. Wouldn’t you know it, they had two copies of The Dark Knight Returns. I thought this book would cost like $20 or so but it was only $14.99. I thought I’d have to have my comic shop order it but nope, there it was. So I snatched it up along with Superman Batman vol.1, Public Enemies.
The Dark Knight Returns looks ill!! I haven’t read it yet but I’ve flipped through it and read some pieces. Artwork is topnotch and I’m betting the writing is brilliant. I’ve heard only good things about this book and I’m glad I finally have it.
Superman Batman vol. 1 Public Enemies looks sweet. I’ve been wanting to check out this series for a while now this book caught my eye about a month ago. I LOVE Jeph Loeb’s writing and Ed McGuinness is pretty good with the pencils. Should be a sweet read.
does anyone read Manhunter? the trades caught my eye…
Yeah, I do. I enjoyed the series a lot. Too bad it’ll be cancelled.
It was a nice way of setting up a new, reasonably big character in the DCU. The art has been great too.
Anybody read Supergirl 14? Looks like prep time Batgirl is going to be top tier as well:wgrin:
Check this out.

I guess that means it is finally over then.

About fucking time. I remember reading up on this years ago. Todd should have just gave him the Sosa and McGwire balls.
Finished reading Superman/Batman vol. 1 TPB. Nothing mindblowing but still solid stuff, nonetheless. I really enjoyed the narration between Supes and Bats. They have different views on justice but they make an excellent team and they always have each other’s backs. And I finally got to see how Luthor lost his presidency.
Gonna start reading Dark Knight Returns next. Should be full of awesome.
I saw Batman: Year 100 mentioned a few pages ago and I saw the TPB last week. From what I’ve heard this is a really sweet book, one worth adding to my collection of TBPs. BTW, how is the whole Batman: Knightfall story arc?
Knightfall is ass. More of that 90’s sensationalism, along the lines of Superman dying, and that Spider-Man Clone Wars “Norman Osbourne impregnated Gwen Stacy” BS. I advise you to stay away at all costs.
Have you never read DKR? If so, you’re in for a treat (although how much you know about Batman can determine how much you enjoy the book).
And Loeb Superman/Batman is the truth. I have Vol. 1 and I think it’s frigging hillarious. I’d get the other three, but money’s kinda tight right now. How’s the new writer on that book doing?
The book was alright. Could have been better. Loebs final arc was ass. And the latest writer is alright. The book is still in some sort of limbo. It needs to be a little more stable.
I was under the impression that “Norman Osbourne impregnating Gwen Stacy” was a plotline carried out by JMS (Sins Past, I think?) and many, many years removed from 90s sensationalism/superman dying/clone saga/etc
I would also rank Knightfall as mostly crap, with really spotty art and a main thrust too unbelievable even for its comic setting. For these reasons and more I would rank the death/funeral/return of Superman arcs much higher (although Emerald Twilight kills em all)
Batman Year 100 is Paul Pope, babeee.
Knightfall is pure garbage. It’s nostalgic in the sense that it reminds you of everything that was wrong with comics in the '90s.
I liked some Superman/Batman. The first arc with McGuinness, I really enjoyed up until the part where they met the new Kid Toyman who built the giant robot. That’s what I call jumping the shark. But that art was really good. I didn’t like the Supergirl arc at all. The story and art felt like it was just trying to attract young boys to buy the comic, with nothing particularly worthwhile below the surface. I really liked the Carlos Pacheco arc about the alternate reality, though. I guess I am just a sucker for those alternate world tales.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who gave me recommendations for what to read when first getting into this stuff. I ended up getting V for Vendetta, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, The Watchmen, 300, Superman: Birthright, and DC: The New Frontier. Loved them all, they were awesome. Batman: The Killing Joke, Batman: Year One, and Green Lantern: Rebirth will all be coming soon. Anyway, thanks again!
