How’s Batman/Superman been these days? I can only afford to buy 4 comic books now as far as continuing series go and I’m thinking of making this one my 4th.
Good to hear Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is still a solid book. It has become my 2nd fav Spidey book now. Speaking of Spidey, are they gonna retcon the whole Secret Identity thing or keep the whole world knowing Peter is Spidey?
It’s ok. Not the best book being put out my DC right now. It’s fine for casual reading. Nothing too serious.

I don’t like the current arc, but I think it’ll pick up. The annual was nice, you might wanna get that if you didn’t already.

But has there been any way to set off his spider sense without actually putting him in danger? I don’t think Spidey would be a pushover for batman.

It depends on which version of the spidey sense. Old school spidey’s body would react for him to avoid situations (kind of like “the other” but not so easily distracted). I remember once he was about to get run over and he jumped as a reflex without knowing the car was coming. it’s also how he’s able to avoid being shot most of the time. It used to be that only large area effects required him to consciously respond to them. Stupid writers.
what do you guys think about batman year 100? i own all 4 books but i haven’t read them, i just can’t get over the artwork. if someone can tell me the story is actually worth reading it, despite the terrible (IMHO) artwork, then i’ll give it another shot.
also, i really need some flash comics. i don’t really have anything other than a few “fastest man alive” books but that’s not enough.
Batman: Year 100 is excellent. You don’t like Paul Pope? Interesting. I think he’s an ill cartoonist. His work has a real raw edge to it and a punk rock aesthetic. I think his art really makes his story work- it has a lot of energy and passion in it. His characters have fascinating body language, his designs are unusual, and his panels just look interesting.
The story sort of brings Batman back to his old, OLD school Bob Kane roots, albeit in a futuristic, dystopian setting. Very unusual approach to what sounds like a fairly cliche premise. I like it a lot, but if you don’t like the art, you might not like the story. Just read the first 20 or 30 pages of it. If you don’t like it by then, you’d probably get upset if you wasted even more time reading the rest of it.

that book is so good. i just love it when hulk falls into the atmosphere and ends up landing on some dude and totally fucking him up.
i’m not sure what the general rule for spoilers are, but i wouldn’t call that comic new so hopefully i didn’t ruin anything for anyone.
edit: in regards to paul pope’s batman… i just think batman looks dumb/fat. maybe it’s because i stopped reading it so soon, but honestly as soon as i saw his face he looked like some slow-minded 2-bit thug. i’ll probably check it out again because i’ve recently gotten into batman and i’ll take what i can get.
