well the last 52 i read like i said before was week 30 so other then that idk
People were betting on which week this weekly series would be delayed. So far it hasn’t.
Oops. Shouldn’t play ds while browsing threads… haha. Sano answered it.
Hmm, countdown, huh? Led by Dini? I’m interested
Holy fuck, Dini doing Countdown. Who knows what the fuck it is about. But, it has Dini involved. That’s like sex. On paper. With ink. And DC characters.
So, wait, if we’re going into a countdown, that means DC’s next big event isn’t gonna be until '08. Damn it, DC. What are you doing to my wallet?!
I think DC is doing pretty well
It’s actually delayed because Jim Lee has fallen behind with all of his work. He issued an apology for it in Wizard about 2 months back. He took full blame for the delay and said that though Frank has been working on 300, he’s actually been ahead of schedule with All-Star Batman.
OH MY F*#&@(#()# G((#&@*()d!
I FREAKEN HAAAATE WIZARD
How in the hell are they going to blatantly and without warning in their BKV - best writer of 2006 article go out of their way and SPOIL

:annoy: :annoy: :annoy:
^Thats why I dont read the damn things. I let them stack up then use them as bathroom reading material 4-6 months later.
I started to buy 52 back in the week 1 and 2 phases, but I’m not going to pay $2.50 for one comic a week, especially not 52.
When 52 is over im sure they will come out with a book so just wait till that comes out.
Stephen Colbert’s going to be at New York Comic Con this year promoting his comic… pretty dope…
iiight kool, how bout marv wolfman???
Nope no Wolfman yet AFAIK.
Countdown is probably the most retarded comic book idea I have ever heard of.
52 was the second most retarded.
I’d boycott their stupidity by not buying any DC books, but All-Star Superman is TOO FUCKING GOOD, and that whole Vertigo dealie is like as good as most of their mainstream comics are bad.
Anyone read the last eight issues of Batman or the last four issues of Flash? You’ve forgotten them already, haven’t you? You’re the lucky ones.
Damn you DC!
I don’t even know how you guys can survive the insane climb up to 52 - buying a full prized issue of the most watered down and slow paced piece of nothing EVER - nevermind surviving the full trip BACK DOWN from 52.
That’s like 104 comics - like 2288 pages of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Instead of buying 52, just buy four issues of FAAAABLES!!!111 a week.
I’m looking at you, Painy!
RE: sano’s comic collection
Very sexy. I really like how the box in the bottom right corner looks like it has some weird water stains/mold growing on it. To me, that really shows how much character that box has- it’s like it’s saying, “I’m so alive with pulsating hot comics goodness that I can barely contain myself.”
Next up, I expect a hi-res photo of all of your comics laid out openly, on the floor, with a naked sano spread out on top of them. That would be hot. I understand this sort of blatant sexual imagery probably wouldn’t be appropriate to post for this site, but email it to me and I’ll keep it in my private collection.
RE: Frank Miller
I think Frank Miller’s got more than just DKR/DK2. Taken as a whole, I really do feel that his entire Sin City work is very strong. While I know it’s easy to kind of dismiss Sin City as a sort of one-dimensional literature, I think that they operate on a fairly advanced level of consciousness. Just for example, the storytelling style of the art is something that is rarely seen successfully- his use of full page panels to tell a story is rare from other creators.
And his Daredevil from the eighties doesn’t hold up as well as other eighties comics like Grendel or Nexus, but it all still kicks the collective ass of stuff like Uncanny X-Men and The New Teen Titans. Plus, DD: Born Again still ranks as one of Marvel’s finest comics. Sure, there are some narrative quirks in Born Again that make it seem a little dated, but overall, the writing still holds up.
Elektra: Assassin holds up very well, too, although I’d have to reread it to see how much of its greatness was Miller’s writing and how much was Bill Sienkiewicz’ art.
Ronin is another of his eighties comics that’s still pretty good, particularly in how he uses art to tell the story. While it may not be the best-written comic around, it is one of the most influential of its era, and I think being influential is an important element when discussing the merits of a Frank Miller work.
Batman: Year One is the quintessential Batman story.
His nineties work aside from Sin City is notable, too. Martha Washington is an interesting and amusing series. Big Guy And Rusty The Boy Robot is a really funny comic, too- although that might be more notable due to the Geof Darrow artwork. 300 has got to be one of the best looking comics around and it’s probably Miller’s peak in terms of how good his art looks.
I think Hard Boiled, which was also drawn by Darrow, is one of Miller’s best works. The story’s very strong and it’s just got a punchline that hits me in the gut.
The three issues of All-Star Batman that have shipped haven’t been very good, but I attribute that more to Jim Lee’s art not really jiving with Miller’s sensibilities. But even if this book is garbage, my point is that until recently, Miller hasn’t really had a misstep; most of his comics are really good.
RE: Wizard Spoiling Runaways For The Man P.Gorath
Fuck Wizard.
RE: The Comic Book Hall Of Fame
The undisputed members are Alan Moore and Will Eisner. Everyone else, we can vote on 'em. We shall continue this discussion when I get home from work- I have to go make a fourth grader cry now.
Zeph - Lol if you want a good laugh I can show you what my floor looks like when I just before I put my new comics away, I do that about twice a year. I’m a Never Nude like Tobias on Arrested Development so I can’t really help you out on that nudity thing.
Countdown - Paul Dini and McKeever working together. I’m sorry but that’s just gonna own all.
The first TPB of Fables is yawntastic. Are the other books worth picking up?
I think I could beast sano’s collection, but fuck if I’m opening myself up for that ridicule in the Battle Royal. Remind me after march.
If you didn’t like it you can pick up the collector’s edition. It’s made of jagged steel and crushed glass and can only be picked up with your anus. Fables >>>>>>>>>>>> uh, not fables.
Fables is the only comic I read at the moment… the quality of seems to escalate with age (although imo it gets a bit lost around Arabian Nights) and I think the second TPB is a huge step up from the first.
I guess that’s only natural, I find in most TPBs the first installment gets bogged down in introductions, and it takes a couple of arcs for the meatier stories to be told.
Im thinking about issued #93 when Nightwing got raped by Tralantrula
I’m always curious about what kind of comics (or books in general) that people who don’t like Fables do like.
I heard Painy is a big fan of Origin and All-Star Batman and Robin.
