Don’t care for the writing myself, just buy it for the artwork.

I kinda enjoy ASBRBW…

And I think Miller’s DD holds up really well, even today. Not the earlier stuff, mind you, but afterwards. I enjoyed it when I first read it, and still do. It’s odd, though. I tend to like it more than his more recent work(DKSB, the new Robocop comic and AllStar), because it seemed open to everyone. Nowadays it’s too rough to digest Frank’s work.

Still, his work does stand side by side with a lot of the classics. And if you can get a hold of that Miller and Eisner discussion, I think you might get what I’m saying. It’s good stuff.

I’m sure Jim Lee can’t be that slow and drawing shit and Frank Miller was supposed to have had the first 7 or so issues done by the time #2 shipped.

And I think All Star Batman was supposed to be bi-monthly(I think). If not, then shit, it sure feels like a seasonal book now.

Jim Lee hasnt really done anything for about a year I thought. He did Wildcats, and some loose work, but no comics as far as I know.

I read somewhere Miller was rewriting the script for it after the reviews and feedback it’s gotten. Still, that’s no excuse.

Edit: I do have the first 3 issues thou, I would have to say if there wasn’t all those delays it probaly would have been doing good. I think it was the 3rd book when they show u the Batcave a three page line up, dat was kool

All Star Batman wasn’t exactly a Robin origin story because that’s not how it all went down. Everyone here knows that. Rumor was that it took place in the Dark Knight Returns universe.

Edit: I would have to say if there wasn’t all those delays it probaly would have been doing good.

Like said before, the book was riding on Jim Lee’s artwork a lot more than Frank’s writing. The story made almost no sense at all and was just too whacky. All Star Superman was infinitely better than All Star Batman.

Im not shocked to kill him off like that, the last 52 issue i read was the one b4 New years so probaly around when the christmas issue came out, I get my comics from my cousin, so i havent seen him recently so im really u know late in some comics, except Nightwing im always up 2 date with him:rofl:

Yeah I forgot about The Maxx. Good show. I remember reading a while back that they were going to make a live action movie about Sam Kieth’s Four Women comic, I’d love to see that.

I’ve been thinking about Frank Miller lately and he really just doesnt make the cut when it comes to the all-time greats. He’s basically got DKR, One or two good Sin City’s, his original Daredevil run, and Robocop vs. Terminator. Only DKR and RvT really work on (or even strive for) any level beyond literal and I feel like his Daredevil run has not aged particularly well. Compare him to his contemporaries and those from the mold who have come since and I think he falls short.

For example…who are sure fire first ballot Hall of Famers, and what does their body of work include?

Alan Moore? Neil Gaiman? Grant Morrison? Bendis?

Expect official confirmation and plenty of news on that previously LITG-rumoured 52 weekly sequel “Countdown,” the DC Universe book being “showrun” by Paul Dini, in about a month.

One little titbit I’ve discovered is that, befitting the title, the issue numbering system will start at #51 (shipping the week after “52” #52) and, week by week, count down to #0. Instantly grabbing the considerable audience from “52” and getting them to commit for another year - albeit one that runs alongside current DC continuity.

Another titbit is that newly-DC-exclusive Sean McKeever will be one of the writers on the title.

yes, that would be fun. My Miller criticism is more towards his status within the upper echelon - not his being there at all. I would argue that he is in the top tier - he’s just at the bottom of it.

I think Moore is a no brainer, Gaiman might be for other people, Morrison a part of the next gen hall of fame, Bendis…
