Other Publishers and General Comic Book Discussion Thread

Doubt it’s Jim Lee holding up the book. He’s super fast when he wants to be and he hasn’t been late with a DC book until now.

Don’t care for the writing myself, just buy it for the artwork.

Oh yeah Ultimate Civil War Spider-Ham Crisis comes out this week! Spider-Ham’s another comic I grew up reading, ah the memories…

I kinda enjoy ASBRBW…

And I think Miller’s DD holds up really well, even today. Not the earlier stuff, mind you, but afterwards. I enjoyed it when I first read it, and still do. It’s odd, though. I tend to like it more than his more recent work(DKSB, the new Robocop comic and AllStar), because it seemed open to everyone. Nowadays it’s too rough to digest Frank’s work.

Still, his work does stand side by side with a lot of the classics. And if you can get a hold of that Miller and Eisner discussion, I think you might get what I’m saying. It’s good stuff.

Jim Lee hasnt really done anything for about a year I thought. He did Wildcats, and some loose work, but no comics as far as I know.

I read somewhere Miller was rewriting the script for it after the reviews and feedback it’s gotten. Still, that’s no excuse.

Anyone remember Ultimate Wolverine V Hulk? Still waiting for issue 3

All-Star Batman and Robin won’t be coming back it’s a dead comic, seriously if u wan’t to learn about robin get robin year one

Edit: I do have the first 3 issues thou, I would have to say if there wasn’t all those delays it probaly would have been doing good. I think it was the 3rd book when they show u the Batcave a three page line up, dat was kool

All Star Batman wasn’t exactly a Robin origin story because that’s not how it all went down. Everyone here knows that. Rumor was that it took place in the Dark Knight Returns universe.

Like said before, the book was riding on Jim Lee’s artwork a lot more than Frank’s writing. The story made almost no sense at all and was just too whacky. All Star Superman was infinitely better than All Star Batman.

What do you think of Booster Golds Fate do you think they really killed him off like that in 52, I hate skeetz

52

Spoiler

He’s not dead. Check more recent issues of 52. Or read the last few pages of this thread for a recap.

Im not shocked to kill him off like that, the last 52 issue i read was the one b4 New years so probaly around when the christmas issue came out, I get my comics from my cousin, so i havent seen him recently so im really u know late in some comics, except Nightwing im always up 2 date with him:rofl:

ban this walking spoiler please, thanks.

re: Comic Cartoons

  1. Justice League/Unlimited
  2. The Maxx (shame on all of you for not mentioning this show)
  3. Batman TAS

Nothing else matters.

Yeah I forgot about The Maxx. Good show. I remember reading a while back that they were going to make a live action movie about Sam Kieth’s Four Women comic, I’d love to see that.

Yeah, The Maxx was good. I still have the comics. Decent art imo.

Anyone remember Daredevil: Target? Still waiting for issue 2.

So you are questioning Frank Miller’s eligibility in to the Comic Book Hall of Fame?

Not a bad idea, and I bet there’s a good discussion in here somewhere.

But to first do that, we must first establish the standards of induction into the Comic Book Hall of Fame.

For example…who are sure fire first ballot Hall of Famers, and what does their body of work include?

Alan Moore? Neil Gaiman? Grant Morrison? Bendis?

…is Jim Lee a Hall of Famer?

New DMZ, Green Lantern is going pretty well, new Gen13 and I still gotta get Civil War. Yey.

holy shnikees!

talk about getting greedy…

Also the column has a really good rundown of the story behind THE BOYS cancellation: http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=13

yes, that would be fun. My Miller criticism is more towards his status within the upper echelon - not his being there at all. I would argue that he is in the top tier - he’s just at the bottom of it.

I think Moore is a no brainer, Gaiman might be for other people, Morrison a part of the next gen hall of fame, Bendis…

I guess people forgot about Marv Wolfman and Chuck Dixon

Edit: Chuck Dixon wrote the early years of Nighting and Marv Wolfman writes Nightwing Now just thought to say something so people can know

Edit: Hey whose bringing down my Rep

Ha ha we can do a second 52 Pool.

Peter David = Hall of Fame. Yeeees. If you’ve read any of his Hulk comics you know why. Hell if you’ve read anything he’s written you know why. PAD owns. Hulk The End FTW!

What the hell was the first 52 pool anyways?

Im confused

A pool we have going where we guess which week 52 will ship late.
