Other Publishers and General Comic Book Discussion Thread

I just have to say it. I really enjoyed Hush. Yes, pretty, no substance. I agree. but damn, not every comic has to bend your mind to uncharted thought provocation.

=P

I’m just saying the first volume of Fables was shit. They gave everything away in the first issue, and I sat thru the entire thing, expecting something new to happen, but…nothing. There was no impetus to read the book after that. If it picked up at all since then(which is, you know, what I was asking about in the first place), I’d gladly give it a read.

As it stands, I’ll take 100 Bullets and Walking Dead over it any day.

Fuck you Shade. I KNOW you intended that for me to read. You fucking horrible-writing-loving-son-of-a-bitch. I hate you. So much.

I don’t see the problem with the Hush storyline. It’s not as good as the Dark Victory and Long Halloween storyline but the stellar artwork by Jim Lee more than makes up for it. As far as I’m concerned there hasn’t been a Batman comic worth reading since then.

The Paul Dini stuff on Detective Comics has been pretty good. As self-contained as the stories are, they’re still better than what Grant Morrison is trying to pull off on the Batman front.

I should definitely start checking out the older Batman stuff that has come out within the past 8 years or so. Catacalysm, Bruce Wayne: Fugitive/Murder and No Man’s Land. I’m sure there has been some other stuff within those 8 years that I’m missing, but, I’ll find it.

And I really need to catch up with Invincible. Last book I got was vol.3(?) and I stopped reading since then. Damn, so much stuff to read.

I would have to say the whole Hush story was good
Edit:I hated it when it came into Gotham Knight, that was shit

Geeze, I guess I can no longer accuse you of being elitist anymore

I just finished reading the last trade of No Man’s Land several days ago, and it was incredibly satisfying. I definitely put it above the Fugitive/War Games/Hush arcs. I gotta re-read the Red Hood arcs to find out where that stands though…

…Doesn’t the Titan’s East arc of Teen Titans start coming out today?:lovin:

Only comic I read so far was the Ultimate Civil War Spider-Ham comic. That was really funny, Captain America had the best lines and stole the show again! My only complaint is that it doesn’t look like the people behind this book have read a single issue of Peter Porker the Spectacular Spider-Ham and I would of loved at least an obscure nod us fans could catch. Ohs well, still funny! Off to read more comics…

Hell yeah it does.

Titans East, Deathstroke is the best villian, and the strongest dats why he is nightwings,

I read a couple of “superhero” comics in Green Lantern and Justice League of America but make no mistake I’m still as much of a comic snob as ever. I have no problem saying that I am and won’t apologize for being one either. If a comic doesn’t have at least great artwork and most of the time a great story line too it’s just not worth my time.

well obviously not if you consider hush, long halloween or dark victory good batman stories

Ummm Hush was a good batman arc wtf are you talking about.

Cheap shock value with the art stylings of Jim Lee. Come on, it was a chance for Jim Lee to draw Batman and up sales on a dying a book. No lie. Batman sales were dipping after Rucka left and shit.

@ P.Gorath: I hope you die. Long Halloween and Dark Victory were awesome. You keep hurting my feelings in this thread.

I liked the art for the hush, are we talkin bout the hust 2-part book cuz u must be talking bout gotham knight

This thread is a lot like a comic book. Every other week is a rehash. How many times can the same couple dozen people talk about the merits/lack of merits of Hush?

Psycho Giddy is also, like, the master of hurting feelings. He’s highly skilled in dismissing a person’s favorite comic and making it sound like a personal attack. From now on, I pledge only to discuss comics he enjoys, so as not to cross his wrath.

Matt Wagner is your COMICS GOD. David Lapham is your daddy. And Gargoyles = Best. Comic. Ever.

No junior. We’re talking about Hush. The 12-part “epic” by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. YOU own it in 2 TPBs(or Hardcover, your pick). I know what I’m talking about, 'kay?

Who knows? Maybe there’s some contuinity wall that needs to be destroyed. I nominate Carpet Lint to do the honors.

Hell, no. I refuse to play by his rules. Tell him to be nice.

Now, I’ll agree that Matt Wagner is a Comic God. But, only one of the few. His Bat-books have been insanely good. Mad Monk ftw.

How is Gargoyles? And is there a TPB coming out anytime soon?

Oh really. So which ones are better huh? If you knew any surely you’d have named them by now. Don’t just run to the Frank Miller Year One and Dark Knight Returns stuff either. Be creative. Tell me what i’m missing out on.

BOOM! Headshot!
