Holy shit, GTC sighting!
I’m not too down with waiting in long lines just to get a guy to sign my comic, either. When Jim Lee was at the Isotope, the line to get a signing and a sketch from him was 2 hours long or something- so I didn’t even bother with that. I just hung out for a while and left.
It’s nice when it’s more of a laid-back atmosphere. Brubaker was at the Tope twice, back when it was at its old, less well-known location. The first time it was “Arm-Wrestle Brubaker Night” and the second time was “Play Air Hockey With Brubaker.” And in between challenges, it wasn’t like he was sitting around behind a table waiting for challengers. He was standing around and mingling with people, and we could have conversations and stuff. He wasn’t no autograph robot sitting behind a table.
BKV was also at the old Isotope a couple times, and both of those times there was no table. He was just chilling with the people, shootin’ the breeze. I wouldn’t have even known BKV was BKV, except for the fact that he was like one of two bald guys in the room (the other one was Brian Wood, who used to live in SF).
The past few times I went to WonderCon, I don’t think I got a single signature. It just feels kinda awkward sometimes to wait in line and get a signature without really having a chance to say hello and make at least a little small talk.
I also don’t like how, at conventions, really fat old men dress up in Frank Quitely’s New X-Men leather-style Wolverine outfit. I saw a fat guy dressed in skintight gay biker leather and I just knew, somehow, that he was “WOLVERINE: THE END.”
at Wolverine The End!
Man when I went to a Jim Lee signing at a comic shop I was on line outside in the freezing cold all day one Saturday because he came super late. It was when he was doing FF Heroes Reborn. Never again. I do have X-Men 1, 2 and 3 signed by him and Chris Claremont though, but I wouldn’t go through that ever again.
Eddie Brock was spotted in Amazing Spider-Man after Spidey revealed his identity. Eddie was resting in a hospital bed. He’s in a coma. After he gave up the suit he slit his wrists, and he’s still in that coma because of it.
Oh and the symbiote suit gave him cancer. It feeds off adrenaline thereby weakening the body of the user. Peter Parker’s body could take this abuse because with his powers he produces more adrenaline than normal but not Eddie Brock. This is a bit confusing but there was a clone of the suit (Last Venom Limited series), it recombined with the original suit and got pregnant, they were going to give birth to the most powerful symbiote ever, like the antichrist for example. So it wanted to recombine with Spidey to have the energy to birth it. But Spidey tricked it into recombining with Eddie to save him from dying from cancer. Eddie later auctioned the suit off and tried to kill himself because without the suit he would die of cancer. Chances are his cancer may have come back and he’s in the hospital coma because of that and the massive blood loss.
Heh heh, they did use Eddie Brock Venom and not Gargan Venom for that Avengers / Guiding Light (Was it Guiding Light? One of them soap operas) crossover though. Well, they didn’t say who it was in the comic version, but he looked like Eddie under the Symbiote outfit with the flat top haircut at least.
Eddie Brock will prolly be back once the Spidey 3 movie comes out, heck they are already gonna have Spidey in the black outfit again… like Spidey 3 too…
thanks Shade and Sano
damn it…
melts back into the shadows
Not to be rude, but the last thing we want sneaking in the shadows and hiding around here is a gay guy the size of potemkin. I’m too pretty.
all that implied rape. mmmmmm rape sweet sweet rape
j/k
DC’s teasing something… DC heroes from different realities hanging out…
Yeah, really like the Question in the pics. Those fucktards.
I can only imagine that the dead characters are gonna catch a good ressurection. There’s been a LOT of talk about the multiverse coming back(which has to do with the whole 52 clue that was going around. BTW, does anyone have that link?).
That Batman looks dope though.
yeah that pic is very nice.
I’m reading Absolute Watchmen right now and it is quite the thing of beauty. The stuff in the back is really great to read, especially the exerpts from Alan Moore’s script for the first issue. Talk about detailed, he types 4 pages worth of script for the first page alone. Also the story itself is just grand. Moreso than DKR or Kingdom Come, Watchmen is really the book that defies all question of “overrated”. It is truly a great piece of comic literature and deserves all of the merit it gets.
I read a review of Spidey Loves MJ #13 at Spiderfan.org. Gwen is fed up with Peter’s constant ditching her so he can do his Spidey thing. Peter always makes up a lame excuse but she’s done buying it. Sounds like another winner. I guess I just gonna have to buy the mini TPBs of this series so I can catch up.
My fellow DCAU fans, how is Batman: Sub-Zero the animated feature? I saw it on DVD for $7.99 but wasn’t sure if it was worth picking up. Any input would be great.
sano, much thanks for the rep, man! :wgrin:
It’s pretty good. It basically explains why Mr. Freeze is the way he is in The New Batman Adventures(Vol.4 of Batman TAS). It’s basically Mr. Freeze on his journey to revive Nora after failing the last time in the OG series.
Its watchable and worth a measly $8 imo.
The movie is okay. Not better then Mask of the Phantasm, but definitely better than the Superman/Batman movie and the Mystery of the Batwomen.
Nothing beats Batman Beyond Return of the joker though.
going to wondercon zephy? i hope i can get my superman/batman 26 signed by loeb and turner
Ya if anyone is going to wondercon from the bay post up, I may be able to go still not sure.
We should have a gathering spot or some area where we can meet at.
Oh I had a feeling it wouldn’t be in the same league as Mask of the Phantasm. Movie is the freaking truth. I recently picked up Phantasm and uncut Return ot The Joker on DVD. I showed two of my friends Return of The Joker, they weren’t really into Batman Beyond but they did enjoy the movie. May have even changed their minds about the series.
Thanks for the comments on Sub-Zero, guys.
The DCU Is fucking broken, and I, for one don’t see any way of fixing it, so long as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman make the fucking rules.
if I was EIC of DC there would be three simple changes, that would make it all work.
1: Dead is Dead, end of discussion.
2: 5 Years Real Time = 1 year Comic Time, No exceptions.
3: Legacies remain intact, nobody can reclaim the mantle once they give it up.
Batman and Superman’s careers?, fucking over, my friend.
that’s fucking right, in-continuity retirements.
Batman steps down, Dick Steps up, AS IT SHOULD BE.
Superman flys off, CONNOR (who shouldn’t have died for a stunt that brings back the Multiverse) replaces him for a time.
Kal can return later, I don’t give a fuck, but it’s goddamn time that these characters aged a bit.
I’m tired of my favorite characters getting stone hard FUCKED, so that the three big guys never get a gray fucking hair.
Money makes the world go round and round. And right now, you’re ideas would bankrupt DC. I say leave it the way it is, but, fuck, give the B-listers some life support with some good writing. Marvel threw Brubaker on Captain America, Daredevil AND they let him do a Iron Fist series. Then you have Brian K. Vaughn writing Dr. Strange. And those books have been selling pretty damn well.
Geoff Johns alone can’t do all the B-listers justice. They need to get some new blood in there.
Plus, think about it, a DC without Bruce Wayne as Batman? That’s bat-shit insane. That’s like retiring Spiderman.
I wouldn’t just say “Okay, they’re retiring” and just drop the bomb.
it’d be a gradual plan to get the shift going…it’s not like Batman hasn’t been grooming a replacement.
people LIKE Grayson, the only thing they didn’t like, was when a nobody stole Batman’s spot in Knightfall…
and really, what DiDio’s doing with Infinite Crisis-Now, is fucking blasphemy in the eyes of many DC Fans (of course there are kool aid drinkers in every crowd, who just eat that shit up)
though I do like the focus on the second stringers, I don’t like the mass bloodbath that heralded the new modern age.
