Oh okay, I heard different/wrong most likely lol! How was the story, worth reading or not?
I was a bit behind but thanks to a friend, I caught up on Ultimate Spider-Man and Civil War.
USM. WOW. Man, the hits just keep on coming. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.
CW. Oh man, CW#7 can’t come out soon enough. The way CW#6 ended was just too freaking sweet.
All i’ll say about Civil War #6 is that the characterization of the Punisher is the absolute worst that I’ve ever read. I knew it was a terrible idea putting Punisher in the middle of this foolishness but I really didn’t think it would be this bad.
When the hell would Punisher say such things like “Relax”,“Uh-oh”, and “Jeez you two wanna get a room?” Did this guy ever read a Punisher comic before? Well at least the art is still pretty. One more issue until everything goes back to normal.
Anybody check out the comic adaptation of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series? I don’t want to order online unless I know it’s good…Brett Booth’s on art, so I know that side’s at least ok.
I bought it for a friend and felt like a faggot for touching it. Seriously.
here’s a review of the anita blake comic – http://the-isb.blogspot.com/2006/12/annotated-anita-blake-vampire-hunter.html
Other reads, minor spoilers -
Nightwing - Pretty cool. Nightwing gets to kick some butt! Nightwing mentioned finding Starfire to speak to her… I’m still wondering if she bites the dust in 52 'cuz in Teen Titans her picture is grouped with a bunch of dead Titans in a room in the Tower or if she’s lost in space and Dick Grayson just isn’t aware of what’s going on with her. Oh and another DC villain shows up in Nightwing to steal the show to kill some more people ha ha!
All Star Superman - Too freaking good! Love Morrison’s Superman.
Uncanny X-Men - Hepzibah was drawn with the hotness! More Brubaker gold in this ish!
Another violent 52 issue with lots of death involved! Lex owns!
ok DO NOT CLICK ON THIS LINK IF YOU DON’T WANT CW SPOILED (yea i don’t know how to use those stupid spoiler tags)
I need spoilers. Please tell me every Everyman dies. Please…
So Amazing Spidey has taken a dive? Well that sucks. Last issue I read was ASM# 535, which I thought was the weakest of the Spidey Civil War tie-in series thus far.
sano, how are things looking in Friendly Neighborhood Spidey? Peter David still doing a fine job? I haven’t really bothered with Sensational Spidey, but I’ve enjoyed David’s work on Friendly Neighborhood.
All the DCAU Batman & Superman toons I’ve been watching has sparked huge interest in buying DC comics for me. So I’m thinking I’ll start buying Batman, Detective Comics, Superman, Action Comics and maybe Batman/Superman. How have these books been as of late?
You fuckers better be reading Immortal Iron Fist. That book jizzes all over my mouth. But, that’s only in part due to the Brubaker effect. TOO FUCKING GOOD!!!
I read a lot of stuff last week. Good shit all around. Although, 52 last week was pretty…er…umm…weak. Except for the ending. I wanna see what happens now next issue.
I’ll be reading Civil War tomorrow. Still finishing off last weeks Omega-pile. Also, Batman and the Mad Monk is gravy. The best Bat-book out right now.
Who wants to place bets on when CW7 gets released. I’ll put 10 bucks one the end of march
Like I said before, JMS on Spider-Man has always been hot and cold with me from the start of his run so that hasn’t changed. He can’t create a good Spider-Man villain to save his life and I don’t quite understand his hatred of Eddie Brock Venom who rules over Morlun or any other lame villain he’s ever come up with. But he did save Spider-Man after the 90s clone saga and I quite liked the angle he provided of how Spider-Man really got his powers and him repairing Spidey & MJ’s wedding, plus I can’t really hate on the man who wrote all of those great Real Ghostbusters episodes.
The last issue, um, how to put this - it wasn’t bad to me, average and I liked the dialog between Captain America and Spider-Man. Only the cliffhanger… uh…
Alls I will say is that Joe Quesada has been against the Spider-Man and Mary Jane wedding since day one. Despite poll after poll and fans wanting them to stay together he doesn’t listen or care. If that cliffhanger is a stupid way to not only off MJ but become the excuse Spidey needs to put on the black costume I’m really going to be pissed. At least until she comes back to life…
Well I’m not too sure how all the events of the three books and Civil War are really taking place right now but MJ is alive in all of those books anyway… so it all just may be something that leads to you getting the next issue, no one really dies, etc etc.
And of course Aunt May could die too in the cliffhanger… or nothing can happen and someone saves the day…
Sensational is great because the writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is not afraid to bring back old villains and reference old stories for long time readers. He brung back the Spider-Man villain Scarecrow (no, not the Batman one ha ha!) and uses rarely seen characters like Madame Web. Plus when he was writing Marvel Nights Four (Marvel Knights Fantastic Four) he even re-introduced Shuma-Gorath in '06 who hasn’t been seen in comics in freaking years and only had a handful of comic book appearances prior!
Peter David as of late has been doing a similar thing with Friendly. He brung back Debra Whitman and Betty Brant who have been absent from Spidey books for a while. For Spidey’s Civil War human being costume he is teaching at the school as - Ben Reilly! And when he went in to interview for the job they told him something like, “I wish Peter Parker was still working here, if only we can clone him.”
Then there was the greatness of all 3 Mysterios at once and the mystery of who Ms. Arrow is - theories range from Marrow to something that came alive from when Spidey was reborn in ‘The Other’ to that Spidey lady who wanted to eat Spider-Man from the story in JMS’ Amazing Spider-Man. But knowing Peter David there’s a strong chance that everyone is wrong and the answer will suprise us all… good stuff! Only complaint is I don’t care much for alternate reality Uncle Ben running around and I hope that storyline gets resolved really fast, but since I haven’t seen him in a while it’s all good and for the time being I’ll just have faith in the legendary PAD.
Detective comics is being written by Paul Dini. Does anything else need to be said? I think not.
52 spoilers:
At the strike of midnight when people yell “Happy New Year” in Metropolis a whole bunch of people flying in the air that got their powers from the Everyman project get their powers shut off and they all start falling to the ground and going SPLAT! That joint was TOO FUNNY! And there is a lot of people going SPLAT! I kept thinking of the great depression when people were jumping off of buildings in waves ha ha! Lex still got his teenage squad of Everyman suckers doing his bidding but Natasha Irons is finally starting to figure out he’s up to something. Um, duh - he’s Lex freaking Luthor lol!
I couldn’t get to my books for like three weeks, and I know you dirty bastards can’t help but post poorly labelled spoilers about everything, on every thread about anything on SRK.
“OMG MATT DAMON IS A SPY AND THEY SUCCESSFULLY FORM THE CIA AT THE END!!! btw spoilers”
Does it really improve the quality of either of our lives if you just post empty facts about the plot? There’s no need to prove that you watched the movie. I believe you! Really!
God, I hate you all so much.
I’m behind on everything, so I’m just going to say…
Only three issues in, but a Criminal movie would be the greatest thing ever.
Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men dialogue - STRAIGHT UP KILLA. My favourite thing about this book are the small little characterization bits he scatters all over the place. Colossus’ joke, that scene where Wolvie gets his mind back after being hit in the head with the beer can, Cyclops’ bits…awesome stuff. Regardless of what you think of this book, there is no debate that this guy’s got the characters down cold.
Meltzer and Ennis are developing a nasty case of Bendisitis on Justice League and The Boys. We’re like 5 or 6 issues in for both…absolutely nothing has happened.
FAAAAABLES!!!1111111111111
Dude, come on. Take it easy - he had like six lines of dialogue. It wasn’t like…I don’t know, erasing and basically taking a dump on the previous 75+ issues each for Batgirl and Catwoman by turning one into a villian and saying the other was brainwashed.
And to be honest, Ennis’ Punisher reads like it’s out of normal continuity anyway. The way Ennis craps on the superhero genre, it’s almost better if you read Punisher like it was in another superhero-less universe.
By the way - I like how Marvel released Amazing Spider-Man #536 one week after releasing Civil War #5…and then halfway through the comic they go “*ED’S NOTE - You must read CW#5 and 6!!!”…but how Civil War #6 doesn’t come out until like a month and a half afterwards. Fucking assholes.
I wish Civil War sucked so that I wouldn’t keep buying their issues anyway.
None of you are reading IMMOOOOOOOORTAL IIIIIIIIIRON FIIIIIISSSSSST!!!11111!!!
You’re all dead to me. I hope your balls explode next time you take a shit.
Slow down, Spanky. You know what happens when you make assumptions. Ironfist is that shit. Danny makes me randy. Get it? Get it?
That was so cheap.
