hope no one here on the west coast is looking forward to civil war #6 today/tomorrow… http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=96158
JEBUS! Yo, you guys on the west coast need to form an angry mob against Diamond. Fuckers keep “messing up” and shit. Go in there old school with pitch forks and torches!
…
Just promise not to damage the Civil Wars. We don’t need innocent bystanders.
East siyide! :badboy:
J/K. Ya still got the big San Diego comic con that Capcom goes to and we East Coasters don’t have that… darn it… we got the New York con 2007 and maybe Udon will come again this year for some more sketches (but it’s in February and they are still not listed as exhibitors, crap) and that’s it… I’m gonna hit up the San Diego con one of these years…
Seriously, I won’t talk about Civil War until Friday, cool?
Look on the bright side. Maybe around week 45 and up Diamond will screw up 52 and we can have a winner for the 52 Poo because late on one side of the country is still late in my book… and WB/DC is rich so if they want to use Diamond that’s on them ha ha!
Ok, that definitely qualifies as an oxymoron. (Why is it that so many people have trouble spelling “definitely”?)
The latest Outsiders trade drops today, I believe it is made up of the post-IC issues…has anyone read these and have opinions?
Also was JLA Classified ever collected? I just learned that apparently Morrison wrote #1-3 as a prequel for Seven Soldiers
I’m still waiting on BurleyMan to release some trades too…
No, DC never collected Morrison’s JLA Classified #s 1-3. It’s bullshit. The fact that they never collected it, I mean. Morrison’s comics are top tier. I just reread those issues a couple days ago and they make a lot more sense now that I know a little bit about Seven Soldiers. Those JLA C issues were the first appearance of the Sheeda, I believe.
I read the first two or three OYL Outsiders issues when they came out. They were average, I guess. If you like the previous Winnick Outisiders stuff then you’ll probably like these issues, too. He tried to make the Outsiders more of a proactive, underground strikeforce, but that’s what they were supposed to be when they first launched the title, too.
I bet it will be a while before BurlyMan does any TPBs of Shaolin Cowboy of Doc Frankenstein. Their first issues came out around 26 months ago and they’re still on like issue 6 only. BurlyMan did release two Matrix anthology TPBs, and those are really good. Those comics feature a lot of top tier talent like David Lapham, Paul Chadwick, Dave Gibbons, Kaare Andrews, Sienkiewicz, Gaiman, and more.
It also bugs the crap out of me when people spell “definitely” with an a. I feel your pain, Rhio.
i just read frank miller’s 300 today. i thought the story was presented decently/slightly above average, but what really really got me was the art- does anyone know if miller did 300 much later in his career? it might have been the many twilight backgrounds that made his trademark black sillhouettes stand out that much more bleakly and powerfully. i’ve read a lot of his shit before too, ronin, dark knight, dk returns, a couple of sin cities and 300 seemed to be miller at his most refined artistically.
Arrrg… can’t… keep… my mouth… shut… about… Civil… War… 6…
One word won’t be much of a spoiler right?
PUNISHER!!! <
hey sano can you pm me whats been goin on in civil war i dont have time to go pick up comics like i use to so im way behind in the series.
PM sent! Only talked about issue 6 though since I’m at work I gotta keep things short…
CURSE YOU DIAMOND!!! CURSE YOU TO HELL!!!
Yeah I could use spoiler tags but people are gonna look anyway… hmmm. Anyone not able to get it today?
please post all cw #6 spoilers please sano (you can use the [details=Spoiler] )
Picked up Civil War, Amazing Spider-Man and Street Fighter this week.
Civil war was great this week and sets up the final issue perfectly.
Amazing Spider-man was pretty weak. The arc is 7 parts and it seems like JMS didn’t actually have a real plan for the last 2 issues and is just writing down stories off the top of his head. I guess he can’t really start his next arc until Civil War finishes.
Street Fighter was actually decent. They’re finally setting up an actual street fighter tournament.
Ohs well. Since it’s quit I’m assuming that people who do not have the issue yet are staying away from this thread. If not, final warning - look away look away!
2 villains tried to join Captain America’s side and Punisher quickly killed both of them, and then afterwards he was like - “What? They were criminals?” Too freaking good! Cap proceeded to beat up Punisher realizing that it was wrong to work with this psycho. Punisher took his beating and would not fight back because he has too much respect for Captain America, the author’s drawing a parallel as to why a lot of people on Iron Man’s side don’t want to fight or go against Cap further instigating this war as pointed out in the Iron Man / Captain America comic - just brilliant! There was some good dialog between Namor and Sue too among other bits of goodness! Black Panther and Storm have joined Cap’s side! Cap’s crew has freed everyone from the Negative Zone and they are going to have a big brawl against Iron Man’s gang in the next issue!
Hook it up like that…
wow, i cant believe they killed tony stark like that. i guess the iron woman thing wasnt far off?
Okay, spoiler tag added.
And yeah, SF2 #6 was really great too. Not Civil War 6 great, but still fun. Well since I know that comic isn’t too popular on this thread (besides there’s an entire forum to talk about it that I mod lol) but even if you don’t care for their comics Studio Udon is going to translate a whole bunch of SF manga in 2007 - Masaomi Kanzaki’s SF2 manga (a more faithful translation than the older comic) and Masahiko Nakahira’s Street Fighter Zero, Sakura Ganbaru! and Ryu Final manga! Masahiko Nakahira’s works have had huge influences on Street Fighter as Capcom has adopted a bunch of stuff from them and incorporated them into their games - he created both Karin and SNH Ryu AKA Evil Ryu and they have become game characters since along with lots of other little touches Capcom has taken from his works. Hope some of ya check them out! :nunchuck:
Haven’t read anything else yet… looking forward to reading Nightwing as always. JMS Amazing Spider-Man is always hot and cold with me and right now I enjoy the other 2 Spidey books more, Peter David’s Spidey being the best.
That sucks, maybe when seven soldiers goes absolute edition they will deem it worthy to include. Did you or Sano read any of Battle for Bludhaven? that tpb also dropped and I’ve heard mixed things (although im leaning towards getting it because they slapped “Crisis Aftermath” on the cover)
I’ve been reading the first new Jonah Hex trade and it is really, really good
I skipped over Battle for Bludhaven because no Nightwing or Robin so I couldn’t tell you. If you do wind up getting it or anyone else has read it and it’s any good let me know and I’ll check it out.
Well well, newuniversal #2 came out today, and must I say, its fucking amazing.
