Something about a dude with an Iron Fist mask running around in the trenches fighting ze Germans just made me giggle.
i’m catching up on a lot of shit and i might be the only person that’s pissed that batgirl is cancelled…seriously it was my favorite book
nightwing is pretty sweet at the moment and i’mma probably bang out 52 by the end of the day
oh yeah and fables is still the truth…boy blue needs to stop beasting.
Batgirl was my favorite book as well, shame that they cancelled just to get a gay Batwoman and turn her into a lame villian for Robin. DC really hasn’t been able to pull off the hero into villian plots lately.
im digging the first Rucka Wonder Woman trade, “Down to Earth” despite the Fugly Greg Land cover.
Finished jonah hex which stayed really good throughout as well as Runaways vol. 2 hardcover which was great, with the first arc collected being better than the latter. The art in the x-men/runaways free issue was really bad though.
90s Marvel titles that deserve tpb’s:
Wonder Man
Cable
X-Man
Sleepwalker
Darkhawk
Ghost Rider vol. 3
What If? vol. 2
Walked into a store called Half Price Books and found a copy of Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21. This is the issue where Peter and MJ tie the not. Been wanting to read this book for years now and it’s mine! Finally mine!!!
So I go into Borders to look at the Superman and Batman TPBs. Good frickin’ grief, there’s like 20 books of TPBs for each character! I don’t even know where to begin or what to get first. I’m gonna have to make a list to keep track of 'em all. BTW is Dark Knight Strikes Again any good?
Since the DCAU Thread has ridden off into the internet sunset, I’ll post this here. I was looking in the Kids DVD sections at fye and guess what I saw? Batman: Mask of The Phantasm for $7.99 and Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker Uncut for $7.99. Naturally, I snatched up both of those babies.

Anyone know a site of various comic book prices? I have a few I want to sell:
-Batman #15 Annual 1991 (Armageddon 2001)
-Beavis and Butthead #1, #28
-The Amazing Spider-Man #12 Annual 1978
-The Ren & Stimpy Show #5, #6, #7
-The Uncanny X-Men #175, #176, #177
-X-Men #7
Also looking for the full list of what issues there are of the 13-part Maximum Carnage series.
these are worth literally nothing
In perfect condition, these are worth ~8 bucks each
I am getting so excited right now in regards to t-bolts #110. I may have to go to the local comic book store and start the subcription service they provide.
I was a bit interested in the comic when I read the choosing sides tie-in. I may place some consideration.
I do like what black panther is planning. But it was funny as hell natasha got her ass kicked by his bodyguards
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #378-380, SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #201-203, SPIDER-MAN #35-37, SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #1-2, and WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #101-103
This could be right but im uncertain. But I do know that the TPB is out there and it is actually 14 but here is one of the covers. Here it is in amazon
YES.TOO FUCKING GOOD.
One member of Deathstroke’s Titans East is a traitor. Cross your fingers.
As far as Batman goes, any where is pretty easy to get into. Most always recommend Dark Knight Returns, Hush storyline and Batman: Long Halloween. If you already read Dark Knight Returns, you might like Dark Knight Strikes Again, but don’t expect it to be as good as DKR.
The internal storylines aren’t bad either, Officer Down is probably the best from all the time DC had at least one storyline run through all the Bat titles. I liked No Mans’ Land, and some enjoy Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive. But War Games IMO is the Disassembled of the Bat title crossovers, followed by its HoM in War Crimes. Usually those are the Bat titles you see in book stores most often.
You lucky as fuck to find those two Batman movies for such a low price. Hell finding them alone is like God blessing you.
Thanks for the info and suggestions on the Batman TPBs, Wellman. I flipped through so many of 'em when I was at Boreders. It was kinda overwhelming.
You got any recommendations for Superman TPBs? I was looking through the first Batman Superman TBP, which collects the first 6 issues. Artwork is freaking tight. I think I could get into this series. Batman Knightfall is like 3 seperate story arcs. Looks like it might be worth picking up.
Got done watching Mask of The Phantasm and Return of The Joker. Man. I have seen Phantasm in more than 12 years. Movie is still amazing. Uncut Return of The Joker is freaking ill! Joker stabbing Batman, Tim Drake shooting and killing Joker. Yes, believe I have been blessed finding both of these movies!!!

If you’re familiar with some basic Superman lore, then I recommend Superman: Red Son. It’s a real fun read.
It’s an Elseworlds story. The basic premise is that Supes’ escape pod lands in Communist Russia instead of the Good Ol’ US of A.
Yeah, that comic was INSANELY good.
cosign wellman’s bat picks, if you’re interested in getting into all of the various bat books you should def read bruce wayne: murderer/fugitive, it’s focused on the bat family as much as it is on batman.
Red Son was an awesome Superman story. Mark Millar did some cool stuff there. Russian Batman was a pimp. I’m going to buy that action figure (WITH THE WICKED HAT) if I ever see it somewhere that hasn’t jacked the price up.
Just off the top of my head, some other Superman stories you want to check out (let’s say in this order)…
Superman: Birthright - Kind of like Ultimate Superman, taking his origin and moving it up to modern times (his mom uses TEH INTERWEB), 'cept I think this is actually in continuity. Mark Waid’s an awesome writer, and Leinil Yu is one of my top five favorite artists (I bought Silent Dragon just cause of him! I didn’t understand ANYTHING, but GODDAMN the art was amazing.) and this works out to be a great story.
Superman For All Seasons - The Loeb/Sale team is always solid. Just like how every Batman list has Long Halloween on it, every Superman list usually has this one on it. Story of how Superman starts out in Metropolis.
Superman: Secret Identity - Elseworlds, about how a guy named Clark Kent in real life starts getting Superman’s comic book powers. Big story, about how superpowers would be like in real life. Superman’s just kind of a normal guy in this, instead of the can-do-no-wrong-champion-of-justice dude he normally is, which makes it even better. Awesome, awesome story. Not really traditional superhero comic book stuff - or even normal Elseworlds where all the usual characters are like Ultimatized and snuck into the story - but it’s still one of the best Superman stories I’ve ever read.
Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow - The last story of Pre-Crisis Supes by Alan Moore, and probably one of the best Superman stories ever. Old school as hell though, and it might not read that well if you haven’t checked out that many older comics before. The Crisis was coming, they were going to reconn all of Superman’s history with John Byrne’s Man of Steel…and it wasn’t like they were ending Superman, but they were going to essentially forget like 50 or so years of history…and this book was an awesome way to go out. Like imagine picking this up at the time, and thinking this was like the last Superman story…EVER. Because it kinda was in some ways. And then imagine that the last Superman story EVER was actually pretty sweet. The only thing is I’m not sure if the art measures up the stuff we have today, and so I think the writing’s way ahead of the art. It’s not BAD ART, but I wonder how it would be if like a current artist drew it now, like 20 years later. Though I don’t know if it works like that because this had a lot of history and sentimentality and stuff attached that added to the story. I hate it whenever someone says that you have to imagine the context and history behind the writing of a story, because I always though a good story would hold up by itself, but this is definitely one of those cases where a good story becomes like a Super Saiyan Level 562 story because of the historical context it’s in.
Those four along with Red Son round up my top five Superman stories. Lex Luthor: Man of Steel was also pretty cool, a story from Lex Luthor’s perspective that had you hating and fearing Superman at the end of it. Good stuff.
I would advise against picking up The Nail though. I didn’t enjoy that one at all.
I’m so far behind on on things with comics it’s pitiful…random Talking Points Memo:
-So, what is Ed McGuiness up to these days? This was one of my favorite artists recently, back when I still cared about getting comics on a regular basis. Besides Ross, he is THE artist for Superman books, imo.
-Joe Madureira? Did he disappear? I loved Battle Chasers, but he just let it fade away apparently, and I’ve noticed nothing else from him.
-I still have the Death of Superman collected in one book. It’s so convenient when things are consolidated like that…anyway, I still look at it from time to time. Despite being such a terribly “gamebreaking” concept, Doomsday is awesome, imo. Come on folks…he was taking Superman rather easily with one hand still bound behind his back. This is greatness. I wish it would be re-done with either Ross or McGuiness doing the art.
-What’s up with Spawn these days?
Joe Mad will be back soon, he’s drawing Ultimates 3 for Marvel.
The last time I was reading Spawn, there’s like 100 souls living in his body, the latest truth revealed about him. Seems like not all of the souls are bad though. The writing on Spawn recently has been a lot better than usual but I kind of got bored with it and stopped reading it, except for the TPB collections of the original series.
Ed McGuiness is with Marvel now…I heard he may draw Deadpool.
forget if i’ve asked this before but can sano or anyone comment on spiderman loves mary jane and the earlier MJ mini series by sean mckeever? they are getting the oversized hc treatment this month
