Hell. Yes. Plus a Clone Saga HC! 30 bucks is higher than what I usually pay, but for this shit I don’t care.
Looking at the March solits, Runaways Saga looks interesting…

wow, yeah that is expensive for a premiere edition.
also looks like volume 8 collects both annuals 1 and 2 so thats good…
Did anyone read the last issue of Runaways? Things are getting DAMN interesting…
It looks like the only books I’ll be reading this week are Justice League of America #4 and New Xmen #33
minor update on my comic adventure… i’m now in the process of reading the dark knight returns, the killing joke, and the infinity gauntlet shits. kinda got discouraged with any hulk stuff as i wasn’t really finding any, but i’m not disappointed at all.
good shit.
There’s a story from Life and Times as recent as 2005 in Companion? Wow. Freaking sweet. Are any Scrooge McDuck stories still being written?
So Don Rosa wrote those TaleSpin eps? Awesome. That’s probably the next DVD series I’m picking up.
Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck the rest of the Disney crews has stories that are written all over the world. We usually get translations. This is kind of strange but lots of times even American authors like Rosa sometimes have their stories appear in other countries before the US. Foreign authors are, um… strange. Sometimes you get good stories, other times you get weirdo stuff like Donald Duck being an Opera Fan… :wow: There’s still a few good writers and artists around like William Van Horn (a fan of Launchpad McQuack who put him in the comic book world hooray!) and, I think his name is Jippes(great cover artist, I read at least his first story - really good) a few others. But there’s a lot of people who just blow and can’t touch Rosa and Barks.
And poor Mickey Mouse hasn’t had a good comic book story in years since Gotfredson exept for a few. In comics in terms of popularity it’s kind of like Uncle Scrooge - Donald Duck - Mickey Mouse which is kind of funny since in everything else other than comics this is backwards with Scrooge falling way below ooh…
No I did not just roll up in this bitch to find novellas of DUCKTALES discussion.
Is anyone else reading Bulletpoints? I like it so far. I also picked up spiderman: reign.
My reccomendation is X-factor. Easily the best X-book I’ve read in years. Maybe I’m just a sucker for sarcastic writing, but I slept on this book and then it punched me in the face. It was like waking up next to an ugly hooker.
Picked up JLA #4 this week and it was really good. A couple of villains make their appearance this issue. Obviously I won’t say who but the plot is getting very interesting. The combination of art and story makes this a an incredible book in my opinion. And i’m not really a superhero fan so that’s saying something.
Last week I read Justice Society of America #1 and it was a decent comic though not as good as Justice League of America especially in the art department. What Batman said though intrigued me. He said the Justice League is a strike force but the Justice Society is a family. What exactly did he mean by that? Mind you that outside of Batman and what I’ve seen on television or movies, I know very little about DC Comics.
I guess what I’m asking is if there’s a Justice League of America what purpose does the Justice Society of America serve?
Okay, first rule of thumb when it comes to reading Geoff Johns writings: He writes about legacy. That is his main motif in a story. He doesn’t care how fucking powerful anyone is. He treats his heroes like they’re symbols of hope and all that other shit. Just like the Flash. It’s all about passing on the mantle to the next generation and so on and so forth.
And by what Batman said, it’s basically implying what it implies. The JLA is basically an assembly of heroes who are meant to deal with global issues like world domination and alien of the week action. They’re basically the Avengers. They do it because they are the most powerful heroes assembled under one logo.
The JSA is the more family friendly team that caters to the younger generation. They are basically the forefathers of all superheroes alive and kicking ass today. Without them there would have never been other superheroes because by DC canon they were the first to put on the costumes and stop evildoers and shit. And they’re more united than the JLA because the JLA is just one big gossip. Everyone there has their own drama to deal with. The JSA have none of that. You could almost say that they’re “perfect” in a sense and are the ideal supergroup. They believe in second chances, unlike, the JLA where you fuck up and you’re basically out the door.
I always wondered though what will happen when we’re all in our fifties and writing our wills, will DC make the JLA the NEW JSA?
Thank you Deathscythe. That was very informative. So if JLA is the Avengers of DC so to speak does that make JSA sort of like the Fantastic Four? The Fantastic Four were the first superhero team in Marvel (some would say the Invaders) just like the JSA. The Fantastic Four are very close-knit (current issues nonwithstanding) and you’re saying that the JSA are this way also.
The Justice League’s thrown people out in the past? I didn’t know that. Who did they get rid of? I was always led to believe that pretty much every superhero in DC who wasn’t a teenager was on the JLA. Turns out I was wrong. I blame Justice League Unlimited
Hey sorry, it’s not often I get to talk about that kind of stuff at SRK. Well it’s the second time after that big ol’ Huey/Dewie/Louie thread this year, yay twice in 4 years of membership I got to talk about Uncle Scrooge! Again, sorry.
Me, Jamar Millar and Mind Mage have questions printed in this week’s issue of Sakura Legends. SRK represent!
Other than that not really a big week for me. Gargoyles #2 moved past retelling the first episode of season 3 so after that they will get into new material that will retcon the rest of that crappy season. In the same issue Weisman urges people to buy the first season and half of the second season of Gargoyles that are already out because they haven’t been doing so well so they might not bring out the second half of season 2 on DVD, so yeah man go and get it!
JLA was pretty good this week. Nice ending.
Updating the 52 Poo in a second…
52 POO!
ELIMINATED
Agmaster - Week 32 - Agmaster had a very clever strategy of subtracting 20 from 52 to come up with the number 32. It didn’t get him that first issue of X-Force #1 but on the bright side stairing directly at Liefeld’s amazing cover art just might subtract 20 minutes off your overall lifespan…
REMAINING
sano - Week 33
Deathscythe - Week 45
Zephyrantes - Week 47
Sheng-Long - Week 51
Adam Warlock - Week 52
I have a theory in the works for my week. See, in the DC Nation of about 2 weeks ago, DiDio mentioned that 52 was switching editors at about week 37 or so. SOOOOO…I’m figuring that these new guys will probably fuck up.
And on my stack, I read the latest Ultimate Xmen. That shit was pretty bad. The ending was pretty “WTF?” and then “lol” and then " ".
It’s hard to find a Marvel equivilient for the JSA because the Marvel we know now wasn’t publishing comics during the decades the JSA’ers had their run. The closest analogy would probably have to be the OG Human Torch, pre-frozen Captain America, and maybe some other Timely people I don’t remember.
The JSA as it was back then would be compared to the Invaders. It’s the one right now that I think would be compared to the Fantastic Four. From what I’ve been reading on Wikipedia it seems that a lot of the JSA has remained intact with 3original members still active those being Flash, Green Lantern, and Wildcat. The other heroes are descendants of previous members such as Hourman, Mr. Terrific,Dr Mid-Nite and some others. In a sense the team hasn’t really changed.
The Fantastic Four is like that because there have always been at least 3 original members in the group and most of the time all four. I wonder if members of the JSA are as public with their identities as the Fantastic Four are.
No, they’re not. And for that you should read Identity Crisis.
Yes I am very late. I have been wondering for such a long ass time. What the fuck:wtf: is this all about?
So…I finally started reading the Onslaught saga yesterday. Didn’t get that far though.
The X-Men art back then was crazy good, but I don’t remember seeing that person’s(Joe Madueria/something?? Can’t remember right now.) art in any titles as of late. Anybody have any info?
Joe Mad basically quit the comic business to design art for shitty video games no one plays.
So yeah, today at work, seeing how I don’t really do anything for long periods of time. I began to think about Cyclops.
Man, his power is ass. He can shoot beams out of his eyes. That is it. They can’t even melt shit or anything like that. He can shoot concusive beams out of his eyes. WTF. He got so gyped.
He is on a team with a living Angel, a being who can control all aspects of moisture, a telepath capable of destroying the universe, and a genius who is super strong and agile and can stick to walls.
Technically Batman w/Gadgets has more powers then him.
I was going to label Cyke a complete loser but then I remembered all the times he’s not died in crazy situations with JUST FUCKING EYE BEAMS. How many times has he got in wolverine’s grill and told him to shut the fuck up ? How many times has he decapitated a Sentinel by looking at it ?
THen I got to thinking about how with all the training he’s done over the years he’s mastered his shitty to power to such a degree that he can level a small forest ( in Astonishing X Men ), catch people when they fall ( I forget but he did it to cannonball I think ), and make the beams as small as an key hole ( in that same issue where he caught cannonball )
In conclusion, Cyclops is a badass mother fucker. He is like the Rock Lee of the X-Men.
For some reason I just felt like posting that.
It’s a pool we had going since the start of 52 where we guess which week the book will ship late. The winner get’s Zeph’s first issue of X-Force #1. It got the name ‘Poo’ 'cuz um… why was that? I think Zeph made a typo ‘52 Poo’ and I thought he did it on purpose, well if it’s late - POO! If no one wins Zeph has to hang that issue of X-Force 1 on his fridge for an entire week.
No more entries. Not that it matters since I’m gonna win next week oh yeah I can feel it. :nunchuck:
