Many of us play multiple games on the side, it’s just that competition around here is almost strictly Super (thus we hope to diversify with BBCS). Super makes up the brunt of casuals, but people are welcome to bring other games to casual gatherings.

If somebody publicly announces (via posting) that they are hosting and lists their address, that’s an open invite. Anyone is welcome, there’s no special etiquette involved beyond the standard going-to-somebody’s-house-you-don’t-know etiquette:
- be clean,
- don’t break anything (although I have trouble following that one),
- be a good sport (and have a good sense of humor),
- BYOB if you want to drink,
- whenever possible call ahead, especially if you’re new.
It might actually be faster/more efficient just to go to the dustloop Hakumen forums and browse whatever video thread they have stickied.

Ugh…30 minutes in training mode and already things are looking ugly for me. I can’t U1 punish Balrog headbutt consistently (keep doing it too late and the bastard blocks…have the dummy set to headbutt and hold d/b), I still have trouble linking into c. MK (for about two weeks I had it on lock and then one week I just lost it) and actually getting my FADCs to DASH (instead of just doing level 1 focus in place), and on top of that I still have such trouble just pressuring the bastard because he can walk away from my shorts so easily (and if I slack even a little walking after him, I get a faceful of rush punch…damn near impossible to throw that shit on reaction unless it’s something retarded like a full screen rush punch).
At this rate it’s gonna take a week of grinding just to get back where I was. I’m not gonna lie, I’m actually starting to prefer BlazBlue over this game.

I haven’t played in awhile and all this talk is getting me hyped all over again. I’m actually anxious to go home and see how bad I really am now. Seriously, though, I’m mad salty about how I’m doing today. I went into ranked matches to blow off some steam and due to a combination of lag and some piss-poor decisions, I got swept by fucking Blanka, Vega and Sagat. I don’t know why but it feels like I just can’t MOVE in this game.
It sometimes feels that way when I’m coming, like, RIGHT off of playing BB, but just going in cold after sleeping it off and it doesn’t feel like a wind-down – just DIFFERENT.
Seriously, I don’t think I even had it this bad reacting to jumps in CvS2, where super jump was a universal thing and low jump was all over the place. I honestly think a lot of it has to do with (a) how ludicrously high and slow people jump in SF4 compared to other games, and (b) the fact that I’m always playing this game on huge TV screens, where it’s harder for me to mentally zoom out and quickly assess jump ranges and trajectories. My eyes just kind of slowly, lazily follow the jump, almost mesmerized, and by the time I’ve mentally registered the jump they’re already falling and I’m generally in a bad spot to anti-air. It feels like it’s a lot easier on a small screen where I can kinda zoom my physical/mental view out and get a better, faster picture of where I am on the screen relative to the other guy.
EDIT: ANd with that all said now I’m going back to training mode. Again, just because I’m bitching doesn’t mean I’m not working.
